Any Hard Rock Bands Here (Ozzy, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc)?

I see quite a few Rock Bands listed for live music at TV but the ones I've read up on all seem to be 60's and 70's with more of a Pop or mellow flavor. Just wondering if anyone knows of any bands here that play a harder version from the 70's icons? Thanks

Keefelane66 10-09-2022 06:11 PM

Oh my god Are you trying to wake the dead.
A while back someone heard what they thought might be rap on local radio station. that discussion went for days eventually turning into dog poop stories.

Nucky 10-09-2022 07:37 PM

Even though I like all the Bands you mentioned there Mr or Mrs OP I do think it's illegal to listen to any of them within the boundaries of The Villages. I'm almost certain everyone sign something at closing to that effect. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:
https://youtu.be/NgrM4_JMi9w This is as far as music can be pushed around here!!!!

The song reminds me of a great previous poster. John W. Not because he was like the Joker but because he gave me the name of this great song. Miss you John.

The Villages musical entertainment is mired in the 50's & 60's.

The average age in The Villages is about 70 and at least according to the folks who book the entertainment, those folks want to listen to music that was made when they were toddlers.

Stu from NYC 10-10-2022 05:56 AM

There are bands that play later day music in the squares, watch the Sun for description of what bands are playing each night.

PoolBrews 10-10-2022 07:51 AM

The Hooligans are likely the closest you will get to those bands. They do several AC/DC songs, and do them very well. Best band in The Villages for my listening tastes. Blue Stone Circle is another good band as well.

The hooligans have not been playing in the squares for awhile now. Sorry they are not here as they are the best band since we have been here.

The Hooligans alter ego, the Spazmatics are okay too. They at least get us up into the 80’s. lol

OrangeBlossomBaby 10-10-2022 08:07 AM

I really like Blue Stone Circle. They do a great variety of what us 60's/70's kids used to call garden variety Rock and Roll.

I've only been here since December 2021 and I've seen the hooligans several times and there other 2 bands as well

Stu4206 10-10-2022 12:08 PM

I'd like to so see more bands play the heavier music also. This just in: Twisted Sister has decided they are going to take it!:pepper2::pepper2:

Uncle Bob's Rock Shop

The Hooligans have a long term gig at EPCOT. Hope it is not TOO long.

bsloan1960 10-10-2022 02:32 PM

Uncle Bob's Rock Shop seems the closest to what we like. We would go an see all of the bands suggested. Thank You for your replies

Suspect they are making a lot more there than they do here so wonder if they will comeback.

Will give Uncle Bob a shot.

Update from Dee: We're not going to take it! :a20:

These Clowns played the Nightclub circuit in Morris County and North and West N.J. when I was a youngin. They really got the party started. It was nuts! :jester:

PugMom 10-10-2022 06:56 PM

the closest to that imo would be Penta. they do VanHalen, Molly Hatchett & some Foreigner. the Hooligans are probably working other jobs. i remember the lead singer saying the drummer works in Orlando/Disney, & he himself (Curt) is in LA Guns. could be they are on tour, idk

PoolBrews 10-10-2022 09:03 PM

The Hooligans have had that long term gig for many years. They generally try to play in The Villages at least once a month. I saw them twice over the summer, so they're still around.

Professor 10-11-2022 04:20 AM

You can find these two bands on the square and they do a pretty good job of hitting more of the hard music you may be after. Blue Stone Circle is one and the other is Uncle Bob's Rock Shop.

nativetex 10-11-2022 04:20 AM

I wish more of the bands would play AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Def Leppard, etc. I would think that there are others that would like to hear more harder rock.

why wouldn't they? It's their party and they'll cry if they want to.

Arbud 10-11-2022 05:05 AM

Hooligans, Penta, Spazmatics. Penta playing highway star by Deep purple. Thought I was at the Baltimore Civic Center in 1973 again.

jimkerr 10-11-2022 06:19 AM

We definitely need more bands that play good rock n roll.

I must be a real dinosaur

I like listening to music that was popular when I wasn't even a twinkle in my father's eyes. Gimme, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis and The Great American Songbook. I also like jazz but it's few a far between here.

Agreed with others and have seen that not everyone defines the term “classic rock” or “hard rock” the same. The Hooligans are #1 in my view followed by Penta- don’t let anyone tell you bands like Blonde Ambition are “classic rock”! Lol

44Apple 10-11-2022 07:34 AM

Blue Stone Circle is more pop than heavy.

lrexroad 10-11-2022 07:37 AM

Rock band

Absolute Queen is going to be at Savannah Center next week. Great rock band!!8

Fastskiguy 10-11-2022 07:48 AM

I imagine the music will change as the years roll on and the demographic changes, just a matter of time.

Joe

Jacob85 10-11-2022 07:53 AM

They are wrong! Some of us actually like up to date music!

bark4me 10-11-2022 08:09 AM

You'll probably have to go to one of the venues in Orlando or Tampa to see those groups. Sorry 😞

Thought I saw that Grand Funk were here late in 2021. There are tribute bands for Queen, Journey/Foreigner coming, but not original bands. Bet there are lots of fans to enjoy hard rock.

The Hooligans have changed their name to Anti-Idol. Still playing heavy metal. They are playing on the 19th at Sumter landing

Deden 10-11-2022 09:47 AM

Cannibal Corpse tours and opens for twisted sister

Wonder why? However hooligans are british invasion band so thinking you are not correct in your post

brunogal 10-11-2022 11:11 AM

Just pre-covid I saw Foghat and War at the Savannah Center (not together). The place was rockin'; I loved it. Also, a great Santana cover band is Soul Sacrifice. Saw them at Orange Blossom Opry nearby. I think they were there again this month but I'm still north. I'm a member of The Villages Blues Society that brings in some fantastic bands. Great party!!

Uncle Bob's Rock Shop - the best ZZTop you'll hear!
