Dogs Gone Wild

I noticed a lot of owners are brining their dogs to Brownwood square at night for the entertainment. With that comes dog waste - I had witnesses this twice in the last week. Like smoking - I wonder if the rules can be modified for the health, safety and enjoyment of everyone that dogs are not allowed inside the square when entertainment is scheduled?

Sensible idea. Volatile subject!:duck:

I doubt that would ever happen. This is a dog friendly community.

Why not ban drinking?

Let's ban coolers.

How about banning non-residents?

Children under 25?

How about banning people over 80 or those with wheelchairs, walkers & mobility issues?

I'd be all in favor of banning line dancing and women of stout proportions, wearing spandex, lycra or yoga pants.

Why not just ban having more than 750 people in the squares at any one time and see if we can put everyone out of business.

It would probably be best to develop a dog square for all dog owners to use and enjoy and spare the other squares, a win-win for everyone!

What an interesting response to that other post. Yes, very interesting, indeed. ๐Ÿ‘ณ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

Not sure the dogs get enjoyment from the loud noises, lights, confusion, etc. Sensory overload is bad and the dogs really would be better off at home. Being truly dog/pet friendly means knowing when to give them a peaceful night at home rather than dragging them into the middle of something they don't understand or appreciate. It is not good for them.

Actually, coolers ARE banned

Taltarzac725 10-25-2022 05:46 PM

None of my dogs have tolerated that kind of noise.

I have taken each to the Square when fairly empty.

Ahhhh .... a Dog Whisperer.

Perhaps we should leave anyone under 65 at home, too. I'm sure they're equally confused and can't appreciate music that's mired in the 1950's - 1960's.

One nasty dog bite and Morgan & Morgan will reap millions of dollars from the Villages and dogs in the Squares will be banned. Itโ€™s only a matter of time. Mixing a few thousand people in a confined space with animals will be an easy guilty decision for a jury.

jimkerr 10-26-2022 06:31 AM

I think all the whining Boomers should just stay at home and be miserable by themselves.

My dog s very happy to go to the squares. There's no sensory overload. He sts or lays down by my chair and he is totally relaxed. I will continue to bring him to the square.

As a dog owner myself, I don't compare my dogs to humans, they're f'ing dogs! Sadly, too many dog owners do.

sallyg 10-26-2022 06:52 AM

I am a serious dog-lover but have to think all the people and loud music is not enjoyable for dogs. In the summer the pavement is still hot at 5pm so add that into the mix. Kinder to leave dogs at home.

Good for you. Sounds like you have a calm, well behaved dog. Keep bringing him to the squares. Life is better with a good dog by your side!

I find small children as irritating as you find dogs. All the same arguments could be made: messy, loud, unpredictable, under foot, possible waste, nuisance, health risks, etc. Get over yourself and YOU stay home.

Yes, because we all know that you HAVE to bring your dog to the square, but it's perfectly acceptable to leave your children at home alone.

Please stop comparing dogs to humans! It's not that hard.

It's been 40+ years, you'd think they're have it figured out by now, huh?

Or perhaps The Villages & the local businesses think being unreasonable to over 50% of The Villages population, isn't a smart thing to do.

Hi. I read your post and the part about banning spandex etc etc reminded me of a situation I am dealing with that perhaps someone on the site could help me with. For many years I owned my own company with offices in NYC and Miami. I had dozens of suits, the great majority Cerruti, Armani, Zegna, and Boss. I preferred the cap toe shoes with a double break leg length. For the first time in awhile I went to buy a couple of suits and am quite shocked by what I found (I guess I lead a sheltered life?). The suits today, same designers, now have pants that end at the ankle and are a bit tight and stretchy. I am in my late fifties. No one wants to see me in tight stretch "performance" suits. Does anyone have a location near TV where they sell decent suits for someone my age?

So right. Get rid of humans and dogs will get along just fine with out the "f'ing" humans.
So, do you identify as dog or "f'ing human"? Just curious.

โ€œNot good for themโ€ really? Some people have no clue. Your advice is wrong. Do you just make stuff up in your head that sounds good to you and post it?

jparsoneau@aol.com 10-26-2022 08:47 AM

The Villages is absolutely amazing. The worlds friendliest home town. Where Everybody claims they are pet friendly. But every day I see anti-pet post on here. I still believe you guys should go form your anti pets group since you guys like to bitch about pets so much.
It truly reminds me about somebody buying a house next to the freeway and then complaining about the freeway noise. Speaking of that somebody bought a house next to Sawgrass and now complaining about the music at sawgrass,
Just think of how great your life is if thatโ€™s your biggest complaint you have these days
