In April, I contacted the FDOT by email about this project. Here is the non-answer that they provided.

"Thank you for reaching out!

This project has not been placed on hold.
There are different factors that may affect work on the construction site that can range from weather to labor and materials issues, among other reasons.
I will make sure to voice your concerns to the project team and please be rest assured that they are doing their best to move things along and get the job done.

High amounts of methane gas being emitted from the ground
Unfortunately many construction projects, like roads and bridges just get rolled over…

It's a different part of the state, but you have to wonder if any of the resources (Labor, money, materials) will be diverted to the hurricane area...

Supposedly will restart after the winter but if I owned a store along the road would not be a happy camper

A worker was killed at the overpass curve. OSHA will sometimes shut work down.

See Post No. 3. The worker was killed in February. But, in April, the FDOT said that the project is not on hold.

Supposedly the bride over Route 25 is the hang up. A worker died in a construction accident shortly after they started. More recently a sinkhole swallowed one or more of the bridge supports. Maybe it is haunted or cursed, this is the Deep South, doncha know.

Still, no excuse for not getting the rest of the work done. Those Bozos would never get away with the delay in Chicago for sure.

LucyP 10-27-2022 06:58 AM

They were there yesterday working on the road. I think few issues in play when they work on it or on hold for a reason.

I asked her for an update today, so she is probably busy working on it.

maistocars 10-27-2022 08:08 AM

The Villages would have completed that boondoggle within 2 weeks.

Here is the update she sent to me today.

"Currently active work for this job includes paving operations and storm drainage installations within the project limits.
The project limits are from Lake Ella Road to Avenida Central; I drove by the site a couple days ago and witnessed paving operations being done.
This project is estimated to be completed Fall of 2023.

Chicago is horrible for construction projects. Always late for completion, sometimes by years, always over budget because certain people have to get their cut of the project. Then they use inferior quality material so it has to be redone well before it’s life expectancy. But at least the politicians get their kick back
