Guided Fishing Trip Fishing On Lake Sumter

I want to book a trip on Lake Sumter for January or February. The way it works, you register and must pay $ 250 upfront. No way to sign up as the second, third or fourth person on the boat. It will be my responsibility to find 3 other people, or I go out alone with the guide and shell out $ 250.

So, I need to find 2 or 3 other fishermen or fisherwomen that are interested in sharing the cost with me. I would hope to go 1/14, 1/21, 2/11 or 2/25. The cost would be $ 250 divided by 2, 3 or 4.

Any interest, and if so, which of those dates (any or all) work for you???

Also, if anyone has done this in the past, how was your experience???

I’ll see your $250 for that Lake Sumter trip and throw in a counter-offer for a three-day fishing junket on the Gulf of Nebraska. Tarpon and carp.

(PS…as far as I know fishing is NOT allowed on Lake Sumter. Thought you might want to know that….)

My husband has gone on the excursion multiple times and is going again this Saturday. He has enjoyed the trip every time e has gone.

I would be interested in joining you if you can get two others to fill the boat. In my opinion the latest proposed date would most likely result in the highest probability of lots of bent fishing poles as the bite is typically better when the weather warms up. Send me a PM.

Large mouth bass, sun fish, blue gills and catfish. All fish must be released.

That is for 4 people and includes equipment and bait. My husband thinks it's reasonable. He is going for his 5th time on Saturday.

Definitely. Send me a PM with your contact info. I have another person interested, so we have 3. If we don't get 1 more, still less than $85 apiece, which isn't bad.

That's what my husband did for his trip on Saturday. I thought you were stating you could book now. The trips fill up immediately. Very competitive to book.

Can you ever give your animosity a rest. Jeeze it gets tiresome!

JSR22 11-13-2022 10:28 AM

My husband and 3 of his friends went fishing yesterday on the chartered trip. They caught 2 dozen fish, but nothing ery large. They had a great time and are planning to do a January trip.

As a fisherman, I would never pay that kind of money to go on a tiny body of water to throw back fish. I guess it's appealing to those who really don't know anything about fishing, but I'd much rather spend a LITTLE more and take a charter out of Homosassa, catch wonderful gulf fish and be able to take it home and eat it.

I can catch a fish at the Lighthouse, using my credit card for bait. It even comes cleaned and cooked.

Seriously, I love to fish but wouldn’t ever eat a fish caught from any lake/pond in the Villages. Between all the pesticides, fertilizer, and weed control chemicals dumped everywhere, which ultimately wind up leaching into the water, you would be asking for a case of cancer : (

I wouldn’t even eat fish caught in huge lakes around here, like Harris or Griffin. I grew up in Leesburg on Lake Harris when you could swim, fish, ski and boats were everywhere. The world champion water skiers used to train here on Lake Harris. It’s gotten very gross over the years and now you don’t see boats and there are some fisherman out there but I doubt they’d eat them.
