Villages Health
I just starting looking around and found the The Villages Health is now accepting the Humana Community advantage plan. Of all the other plans accepted at Villages Health the Humana has a higher rating of 4.5 stars.
I've been with United Healthcare since moving to TV. I'm now considering possibly make a change for 2023. Looking to see what others with TV Health think. |
We have given up on ADVANTAGE plans, please do your research, use SHINE for unbiased information. We personally would have lost access to 3 or 4 specialists AND the PCP we were using if we went with advantage plans.
On a side note, we were with VHS when we first moved here and liked the experience (they were accepting supplemental plans at the time), then as decision was made to stop accepting supplemental, and stop the people that were grandfathered in, so we left. |
This thread is about Villages Health adding Humana as one of their accepted health plans. This thread is NOT about advantage plans Vs Medicare. That subject has had as much air time here as dog poop.

OK, the OP did not state if they were on a supplemental plan or advantage plan, if I misunderstood, my bad.

Love UHC villages plan. Never had an issue

I can't speak on your specific health insurance plan, but I can say that the Villages Health has been terrific, as far as medical care is concerned. Good doctors, PAs, nursing staff. Clean environment, plenty of parking, and I can get to the whole thing by golf cart. My doctors are all in the Santa Barbara building. Audiologist, primary care, ob/gyn, the blood lab.

Villages Health UHC 'Focus' advantage plan enhances the already solid United Healthcare offering next year. More OTC $$, and expanded dental and vision benefits are now included. I've had excellent experiences with Villages Health, and United Healthcare. Have heard good things about Humana-but my experience keeps me coming back to UHC.

We've been with The Villages Health since the Santa Barbara clinic opened. Been VERY satisfied!! We 1st had the UHC plan but 2 yrs ago switched to Florida Blue. It offered better benefits. So far, probably won't switch....but I guess one can't say never. I haven't paid attention to the Humana ads but if it's something attractive to you, I'd say go for it!!

That particular Humana plan is an HMO so it limits physicians to those who accept that plan. Tread carefully and check to see what specialty physicians participate- I suspect very few. If you travel I would avoid any HMO.

The Villages HMO
We have The Villages Medicare Advantage plan (HMO). They now put you on the Medicare National Network which means you can go anywhere and use any United Healthcare doctors. Great for traveling and snowbirds. No referrals needed.

Staying with UH advantage. Find medical system different than Ma but learning . Example if you go to an E.R. in Ma you come home with a cast, here you come home with a referral to an ortho. But that aside I like my primary and UF health.

I’m a longtime Villages Health patient. For some unknown reason after 15 years I switched from United Health to Florida Blue this year. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE!
I won’t go into a lot of detail except to say that they truly are an HMO, requiring pre-approvals for lots of stuff. They are terribly slow to give the approvals. On two occasions they were so slow that my doctor ordered me to go to the ER where they would be required to treat me! That’s true, but it doesn’t say that I had to wait 14 hours in The Villages Regional Hospital to get the 15-minute procedure. I’m going back to United Healthcare which is truly user friendly. I’d recommend that you ask your doctor, nurses or other medical professionals. I’d bet that you’ll get a 100% response to stay away from Florida Blue! |

My wife has another year to go until Medicare time so when I was going to enroll her in her FloridaBlue plan for 2023 what do you know, at the bottom of the list of providers UHC was there. Eureka finally my dream comes true. Not so fast. They don't cover any of The Villages Doctors or our Hospital which looks like Wayne Manor from Orange Blossom C.C. but is just about as inviting as a BatCave, ER-wise. |

I couldn't understand why or how they could just - watch this woman yelling in pain and vomiting in the middle of their waiting area. If she'd ruptured her spleen she would've died before anyone could even bring her a barf bag. |

I have been with UHC HMO for quite a while now. Have never had a problem finding a specialist when needed. I also think the no referral is a BIG thing. Have never had anything or anyone denied.

I am currently with United Health HMO Advantage Villagers plan. So I don't need a referral.
