Those lucky Dabney residents are going to love that smell from the treatment facility!

I think there is a song about that which goes something like:

Turnpike noise to the left of me, stink to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle pee u

Downtown Leesburg may become the fifth Town Square.

My wife was opining this morning that within 20 years, Orlando could become a suburb of The Villages.

Lake County. No thanks

With the estimated population growth of over 225,000 once the developer has developed all currently owned land, The Villages will likely rank #6 in Florida, surpassing Cape Coral, Port St Lucie and Hialeah and just below St Petersburg

Maybe then, with that large of a population, we will finally earn ourselves a Costco!

Na, a household consisting of two old people going shopping in a golf cart don’t do the mass quantity shopping that is Costco’s target market.

The kids just can not stop.

The new capital of Florida will be The Villages.

Fastskiguy 11-22-2022 07:23 AM

Anybody have the link handy to the property they purchased?

Joe

Hmm, let's see: 515 acres should mean about 5,150 homes.

So, it starts immediately. Lol

This past June, in a trial against former agents of Properties of the Villages, a member of the Morse/Boone family testified that TV will double its size within 10-years.

You are probably correct - still hoping though - Clermont is not that far away from my village, and I can stock up by just making quarterly visits to Costco - though it would be nice if they were closer, so I could purchase their $4.99 roasted chicken on a weekly basis.

What do Developers do if not develop?

How do they earn money to support themselves, their families, their employees, their contractors/sub-contractors and suppliers?

Walking into a big box store to purchase a $4.99 chicken instead of going into Publix has always been high on my list of things to do

Because ≈10,000 people are retiring every day.

Roughly 100 a week buy here.

Hopefully, but TV will turn into a northern suburb of Orlando. Will never happen, but a nearer airport would be great.

I do not think that is correct. Target is owned by Dayton, the old Dayton-Hudson Company. Costco is owned by Costco Companies, which was a merger between old big-box discounters Price Club (formerly Pace) and Costco.

Now, what you are probably referring to is that they are both invested in by a few of the same investment firms. Blackrock Fund Advisors, the Fidelity 500 Index and Vanguard are both big share holders (holding some 14 Million shares of Target and 13 Billion shares of Costco.

It will never stop as long as Wildwood and Leesburg keep selling off their land and changing their zoning to allow housing development. They want the taxes and revenue! Can’t really blame the developers, that’s what they do. We need a two year moratorium on building so infrastructure can catch up.

It's not just the developer.

What do you propose to replace the incremental two billion in taxable property per year and lost the jobs of thousands of construction workers lost during that moratorium?

If you really want to be near a Costco, wait a few years and you can buy into a new TV village that will be built in near proximity to one of the Costco stores already built.

The way it’s going The Villages might hit Claremont right around the time their Costco is being completed.

Fresh Market chicken is better than Costco. :jester:

Petersweeney 11-23-2022 07:07 AM

I’d rather have cheap eggs than a cheap roaster…

jimkerr 11-23-2022 07:18 AM

The Villages already owns enough land to grow to close to 500,000 residents. We will continue to grow for a long time to come.

Especially is Florida's coastline property keeps eroding.

Kelevision 11-23-2022 08:04 AM

Let’s see what’s allowed….. “The Villages has not set a use for the property, but would consider development like commercial, industrial or even residential, depending on what is allowed”.

The Villages, formerly known as Florida.

Dr Winston O Boogie jr 11-23-2022 10:00 AM

Since the turnpike is a north south road I assume that they mean east of the turnpike. Is this down off of 470?

Hardly. The average The Villages owns south of CR 470 in Sumter and Lake would mean somewhere between 200,000 and 225,000, based up their building densities in the past.

OhioBuckeye 11-23-2022 11:25 AM

Oh no, this doesn’t sound good already!

Pretty sure it's a little less that 1/2 that number...
