Best place to watch World Cup in the Villages?

Want to see Ecuador play Tuesday at 10. Will the bars be open for the games?

soccer

nobody really cares about it, very BORING sport...

Babubhat 11-26-2022 04:03 PM

I tape the game and watch it in 3 minutes on fast forward. Works well. 98 percent of time is boredom

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. So, the "nobody really cares about it" part of your statement is wrong. The "very BORING sport" part is your opinion.

It is a fun game to watch.

They will probably have the US-Iran game on some places but 10 is pretty early for the bars here in the Villages.

Not sure what kind of television viewing the bowling alley has? Or maybe some of the rec center exercise rooms?

I did not see a soccer club -- a soccer viewing club-- here in the Villages.

At home, in my shorts and comfy t-shirt with the holes in it. Sitting in my recliner with beer and snacks and no other drunks around to make a fuss or spill stuff.
Life is good, sometimes.

billlaur 11-26-2022 09:33 PM

if you have trouble sleeping ,watch a soccer game....Boring

Taltarzac725 11-26-2022 10:25 PM

I do like to watch the US Women Soccer World Cup players more than the men in their tournaments.

Only have to wait until next year as well.

Back to the real subject, World of Beer, Sunny Pints and RJ Gators are good places to watch the games. Have a group that goes to these and other spots to enjoy the greatest game in the world(IMHO). Keep on kickin!!

Because, we'd miss all the fun we have here on TOTV!
😄

Taltarzac725 11-27-2022 09:54 AM

When do the bars open here in the Villages? Probably varies a bit but I doubt if many are open at 10 AM. And there probably would not be much interest from other patrons about an Ecuador - Senegal soccer match.

Um - your ……… opinion. Not everyone wants to watch football 7 days a week😮

charlieo1126@gmail.com 11-27-2022 10:42 AM

While I do watch some soccer (mostly big games) I understand why it’s not so big in USA, a perfect example is all those fans going crazy and giving each other high fives after a 0/0 tie against England,. I MEAN WHATS UP WITH THAT ???

So no different than football players doing dances - picking up the players in the air after a sack- cuz that’s what they are being paid to do- ????

that was not my point and post had nothing to do with players , you should reread what a said. I was trying with a little humor to make a point why it’s not as big in USA , sports radio and news sites were full of people making fun of all the excitement of the fans over 0/0 tie, I’m now using my direct tv NFL ticket to watch real football games ✋

Get it! Agree! 0/0. Tie. No winner. No loser. Everybody gets a "Participation" trophy? Waste of time to watch a stalemate, imho
😕

Two Bills 11-28-2022 04:15 AM

At least Rugby and Soccer players go at it for 80-90 minutes, unlike NFL Football, where they run about for about a minute, then all come off for a rest! :p

If you really want insomnia, try watching County Cricket!!

Rwirish 11-28-2022 06:16 AM

Your living room.

The most common final score is 0 - 0. So yeah, boring.

Over the last week I've had the games on TV in the background on & off for more than eight hours. Five matches. In that entire time, there was never a score on the board- always 0 - 0.

At the end of the 0 - 0 England - USfA game, the sportscasterwoman said "everyone wins!". lol.

I might watch Tuesday when Iran will likely beat USA.

dougjb 11-28-2022 10:05 AM

Wow!

Do any of the posters here have even an ounce of civility? The OP merely asked where is a good place to watch a particular match. He did NOT request your commentary on whether you like the sport or not!

Why not either respond to the original request or simply BUTT OUT.

As for me, I really do not know of any place that has this soccer match on. I am sorry.

US pro football is awful, not enough diversity (cough).

The commercials are so woke as to be unwatchable. Most men who watch football should be out tossing a ball around instead.

Actually 1-1 is the most common score in Premier league in UK.

In qualifying during group stages in World cup, not losing is the first priority.
A scoring draw is acceptable. (Goal difference in group)
Wins are bonus.
When the final 16 are decided, win, or go home.
Games get better then, and there will be no draws.
Extra time and penalty shootouts will decide winner if drawn at full time.
England hate penalty shootouts, especially against Germany.
We never win!:ho:

Bingo. Being able to to understand the rules of any game and how it is played, makes it more enjoyable.
