Gas cart battery

Need a new battery for my GAS golf cart. Looking for best place to buy. Current battery is a Rayovac from Batteries Plus. Anything closer than My. Dora?

Check out AutoZone, on the corner of 44 and 301... Or Walmart...

Walmart

villagetinker 11-29-2022 03:24 PM

Any automotive store, also Rural King, take in your old battery so they can match and you get the core charge. Be sure you know which wire goes on which terminal when you reinstall the new battery.

champion6 11-29-2022 06:09 PM

The Walmarts on 466 and on 441 are golf cart accessible. The one on 466 has an automotive service center.

Batteries have gone up considerably in the past three years. You can shop around but, I would just go to the Villages. It’s about $110.00 with your old battery in trade.
It’s not worth driving all around to safe ten bucks.

Mando's golf carts & batteries...comes to your house 352-609-5050 or (cell) 352-636-0440

That price of $110.00 sounds excellent. When I shopped online recently, I found prices ranging 150-225. If your cart is a Yamaha 2017 or newer there is a little more work involved for installation.

Laker14 11-30-2022 05:36 AM

How many years would you expect a new Yamaha cart battery to last? My cart will be 4 years old soon and I'm wondering when I should start thinking about replacing it.

brewcitysteve 11-30-2022 05:46 AM

Sam's on 441. Got one last month. In stock at the automotive service desk. About $125.

roob1 11-30-2022 06:14 AM

Just bought a replacement for 2016 Yamaha with matching or better specs as original, at Rural King for $54.

birdawg 11-30-2022 06:23 AM

Rural King. The cheapest around

I just had my 2018 Yamaha cart battery replaced for $120 at The Villages Golf Cars in Brownwood.
They checked the charge/voltage/load (not sure of terminology) and said that it was weak. Gave me the option of changing it or not.
I had it changed as I knew it was 4 years old and I didn't want to get stuck somewhere with a dead battery.
Hope this helps.

Rural King and you get free popcorn

At 4 years, time to shop around & then bring your old one with you in case the battery model number has changed. Then the shop you chose will match you up to what you need.

tuccillo 11-30-2022 07:44 AM

4-5 years is typical. If you notice a slight hesitation when it starts then it is time. A preemptive replacement at 4 years is also not a bad idea.

Changed my 2017 last July. Got the battery in Walmart - heavy sucker and as previously noted it's a little challenge to replace. Cost $170.46 less $12.84 for the core. Supposedly a much better battery than the one the cart (Yamaha) came with. The one it came with had practically nothing on it to identify it. That should tell you something. If you are concerned about removing part of the plastic side of the cart then I suggest you have someone else do it.

Sams Club has both an automobile battery, warranted for two years, and a deep-cycle marine battery, warranted for one year, for under $100. Both are about 600 amp hrs. I bought the marine battery because it was $20 cheaper and would better serve as a power source in the event of power failure during a storm. It has worked perfectly in the golf cart now for almost a year.

toddao 11-30-2022 09:48 AM

Battery Boys in Oxford . You can buy it there or have them come to your location to install it.

Tyrone Shoelaces 11-30-2022 09:54 AM

should be a Group 24 RH Positive.
About the most standard/popular battery size there is.
70ish bucks at walmart or Sam's

Got mine at o'Reilly on 301 in wildwood. $100 , 2 year warranty
Bought about a year ago. Will match price from companies

Bruceg0028 11-30-2022 10:16 AM

You can shop around but keep in mind price is not the only thing to check. You want to make sure that you’re replacing apples with apples. Check how many CCA’s (Cold Cranking Amps) the batteries have. Is it a deep cycle or regular and how many month’s warranty are you getting. A $54 battery will most likely be your lowest reserve capacity which may not last as long as a better unit. Your current battery should have all the specs to compare. Batteries are like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Thanks. I bought the cart from I-4 Power, out of their Webster, FL store. It is due for a service, later this winter, that requires them to bring the cart back to their shop. I will have them change it out when they do the service. I may even spring for some more comfortable seats if they do that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We're back up and running. :lipsrsealed:

WingedFoot78 12-01-2022 07:05 AM

Isn't there a Batteries Plus on 441in LL?

sasman29 12-01-2022 09:32 AM

Batteries

There is a Batteries and Bulbs AKA BatteriesPlus up near Sams Club on 441
I have had great luck and good prices with them in replacing Auto Batteries. They would probably be good for Cart Batteries as well.

I just bought one at Napa auto parts in Wildwood

pollockt 12-01-2022 10:13 AM

You may want to try Battery Boys.
352-643-1241 They came to my Villa to help with my Golf Cart battery and did a really good job.

mixsonci 12-02-2022 02:06 AM

My Yamaha is a 2015 and I still have not needed a new battery and I have to admit, I let it sit sometimes for a couple of months at a time. I've been lucky
