Car show!

I just saw that The Villages Tesla club is having a car show, they are charging (funny I know “charging”)$5.00 a person! Does any other car club charge a entrance fee when they show off cars?

It’s a surcharge for the fire department in case one of them bursts into flames.

Ya, but I will cost 68.5% more than it would have last January first.

Why would anyone want to pay money, to see a Tesla in the wild? They're all over the place and they're not much to look at.

Maybe they're trying to start a slush fund, to provide "towing costs", when they're out of juice and can't find a charging station?

villagetinker 12-02-2022 12:18 PM

I have never had a charge for a car show, unless there were prizes involved.

manaboutown 12-02-2022 12:20 PM

$5 is a lot of juice to charge to see a Tesla, even in a short circuit. Watt? No I would not volt to ohm one as apparently CA legislators want all vehicles to be electric in the near future.

justjim 12-02-2022 12:29 PM

I would just pass on this Tesla show but have other plans anyway.

2nd Annual Electric Vehicle & Sustainable Energy Show – The Villages Tesla Club

BrianL99 12-02-2022 02:55 PM

How many gallons of fossil fuel are going to burned up, producing electricity to charge those Teslas, so they can sit in the hot sun before they get driven home?

Someone has to look up the word "sustainable".

JoMar 12-02-2022 10:27 PM

They may have to pay a fee for using the Polo Fields.

It's the rising cost of electricity OR it's money to rent a generator to charge all those cars that are drained at the end of the show and can't make it home. ;)

I’m thinking they should pay us 5 dollars to come to the show. After you seen one Tesla you seen them all , some have duel motors some don’t lol

Captainpd 12-03-2022 06:37 AM

They all look alike and why do you want to look at someone else's debt and vanity. $10000 down and $1200 a month to drive around the Villages. And it's a "pretend" EV. You still need fossil fuel to make it work. Lol. 3rd Saturday of the month at Spanish Springs for a car show. 1991 and older. FREE

Daxdog 12-03-2022 06:50 AM

Even if they have to pay a fee for using the polo field, you shouldn’t throw a party if you can’t afford it.

Gunny2403 12-03-2022 07:08 AM

Tesla is not worth a Penny. Bought a Brand New “ Y” and sold it 6 weeks later. Nothing but service issues and no help from Tesla.

CA's mandate is (yet another) disaster waiting to happen. Presently, 2% of the their cars are electric and despite this low number, last summer the state had to urge their owners not to charge their cars because the power grid was at full capacity. Planned wind and solar power generation plant development will not have the capacity to support a 100% EV policy. Nothing new here though; politicians have always been much more interested in virtue-signaling than planning and execution. Probably figure they will be out of their present positions by the time the s**t hits the fan.

Last Spring Tesla Car Club was at Sumter Landing and free.
Sounds like they want to go more upscale.

The $5 fee covers their charging fee.

EV are just as bad for the environment.

Anyone thinking they are saving the environment buy driving an EV should read this article about lithium mining . All EV use lithium batteries.

Seen them, ridden in them, not impressed.

waterflower 12-03-2022 11:30 AM

It is for the fire department to stand by just in case a battery explodes..

tuccillo 12-03-2022 11:39 AM

They don't explode. If the battery is compromised in an accident, it may experience thermal runaway and start to burn. They can be difficult to put out. It is not really much different than a gas car that has the fuel tank compromised in an accident and starts to burn. EV fires are less common than gas car fires but are more problematic to extinguish. The Chevy Bolt is a bit of an outlier. Bad batteries from LG Chem that all needed to be replaced.

No thanks

$5 for the honor of looking at someone's Tesla? No, thanks. I'll take my five bucks and buy gas with it.

Chamo 12-03-2022 03:00 PM

Lol the inflation reduction act in prime time. Waste of 5$. I rather put it towards my seco bill

daniel200 12-03-2022 04:03 PM

You can see them for free at the Tesla showroom in Orlando Florida Mall. You can also schedule a free test drive (I did) . But as others have mentioned, there are only a 4 Tesla models (X, 3, S, Y) … So if you have seen 4, you have seen them all. (Oops forgot the 5th model .. the special edition “burned up” version … but not available in the showroom yet)

I realize it is a Tesla club, but I suggest you look into general EV clubs in the area (maybe Ocala or Orlando). They are free and you will be exposed to a much wider, and more interesting, selection of electric vehicles. I drove a Tesla for two weeks and never got used to having to look at the big iPad - type screen on the right - very distractive. There are better EV's out there . . . I drive a Jaguar I-Pace which I bought used and love it. Check out the Kia EV-6.

If this car show is at the Polo Grounds then most likely it's The Greedy Morse Clan charging to use their facility.

In our village in UK, they say the new internal combustion engine will soon be on sale.
Can't see it replacing our fleet of trucks!

Thank goodness for the Greedy Morse Clan. Without them, their vision and their continued caring we would not have such a beautiful place to live.

Will we get a $0.75 tax credit from the gov for attending?

Yes, they should simply pick up the tab for additional security, parking, damage to the fields, trash collection, etc, etc, etc...

How dare they expect a private club to pay for those things!
