Golf Cart Enclosures
Does anyone have experience with the cart enclosures that roll up like blinds? The company that advertised in ValPack is in NY and has someone in TV do the local installations. I asked about them at Villages Carts and a salesman said that they were "brittle" and prone to breakage and didn't have any warranty.

It might be helpful to provide more details, most of us don’t read the Val u pack.
No surprise a golf cart company would say dont use them, its competition. |
No experience with this item, however, the one I saw looked like a piece of PVC pipe that you rolled the enclosure around. I have never seen one that has a cord like blinds. I do not recall how the PVC pipe was attached, but I think it was just attached using velco.

I did see a demo at LSL. I believe it was at the Chilli Cook off fectival, which is coming up in January or February. They looked very nice.

Roll up cart enclosures work great in my opinion. Totally out of your way for the majority of the time you don’t need them, and quickly put into action when it starts pouring out, or on the rare occasion it gets very cold outside. The vinyl type enclosures get very stiff and inflexible when it gets cold out and can easily tear when you try to stretch it out when cold, so I would stick to the canvas fabric types. Also, the traditional snaps can be difficult to work sometimes and can tear from the enclosure. The stainless steel soft touch snaps are an upgrade that is definitely worth the small extra cost. Also, never leave a wet enclosure rolled up as it will become an unwelcomed science project. When storing your cart for any extended period of time, leave the enclosures hanging down on the sides of the cart so they can stay dry, breath, and stretch out.
Quality Golf Cart Enclosures in Summerfield, on 441, custom makes an excellent enclosure. If my memory serves me correct, Matt is the owner. |
I believe the enclosures the OP is referring to has a cord like a shade. Quite different than the more popular ones. I thought they were very nice if you need new enclosures they are a nice option.

A village carts salesman may knock a product they do not carry.

Or just get a hard enclosure...Curtis Cab makes one that is studry, doors lock, slides up and back so it works well in tight spaces, and you can react instantly to whatever weather happens. It's also pretty tight in the winter winds so you stay comfy. And the complaint they are hot in the summer is just not true. I've had one on my last two carts and would not go back to the roll ups.

Don’t know about your reasoning but I had really good luck with mine especially when it’s cold out.

I have it on one of my carts. Works great most of the time. If you want information let me know.

Yeah, I got the same answer from Villages Golf Cars salesman “we will NEVER carry them because it’s something that could break” to which my reply was “oh, yeah the same technology used on every roll-up shade on multiple windows in millions of homes? You’re right!”

If you are responding about the ones that have a chain that rolls up the blinds, I'd very much like to hear your experience including where you purchased them. If you looked at the website I posted, you'll see that the ones I'm referring to come from NY, although there may be other alternatives. Thanks.

I use a golf club plastic tube, available for $2 at Walmart. I slit the tube and slid the bottom of the curtain through the slit and locked it in with a wiretie. Rolls up quickly and neatly, by hand of course.

Also, they were the inventors of the canopy-type club protector and have been in business since the 90's. I'm sure if you call them they will have their local installer give you a call.

HATED IT! Getting in and out was a a constant challenge to avoid whacking my head, shoulders, etc... Maybe it's because I'm tall, but I'd never buy one... |
