UPS Can't Find Us!

New construction in Richmond - We had a UPS shipment out for delivery today and tracking showed it was to an invalid address. Called UPS to verify that the delivery address was correct and they are supposed to contact me tomorrow. I Googled our address and much to my surprise, Google doesn't seem to know about it either. Will run over to UPS and Fedex in Leesburg tomorrow to see if I can make them aware of our existence. Strange.

It takes a while for the mapping systems to catch up with the building in the Villages. While you are at UPS and Fedex you might introduce them to the FREE Villages app, that seems to have the most up to date info. We had a similar situation several years ago when the USPS added 32163, it took months before this started to show up in all off the databases, until these were updates we had to use a Wildwood zip code!!

I am having issues with some deliveries from vendors, who say that they can’t locate me in Richmond - have had to drive nearby and meet them in a parking lot, and then escort them to my home. Other vendors have found me OK, I guess it depends on what they use to locate an address.

I know it takes a while for things to propagate, but I thought it would be faster than this!
Good idea about The Villages application. I'll do that.

If xfinity locator can find a house the day it’s sold Ups should. They need to do better.

How do we add a new residential address to google maps?

I put some directions out on Youtube. If you Google "Powhite Place The Villages", or "Powhite Place 32163" you'll find it. If you want to give me your street name I'll do the same for you.

Choose to leave packages at Leesburg depot to pick up yourself until it gets resolved or at some local UPS and FedEx access points.

True.

Same for GPS. I update our Garmin every 60 days or so and it still can't find places or routes us over roads that no longer exist. Things change fast around here.

Xfinity has the maps from laying out their lines. UPS used gps and that takes months or longer to populate.

Nucky 12-30-2022 01:34 PM

Waze works for many addresses down yonder. Can't believe it but the Villages GPS works also.

Byte1 12-30-2022 03:07 PM

Speaking of UPS finding your home, I had a few orders for Christmas, and one didn't make it here. The UPS delivery guy was running around on a four wheeler and trailer, making U turns in the street and one of my packages landed in the street in another village, almost a mile away. He gave me two packages and told me that he had another one but it must be on the truck. Said he would be back. He never found it and I did not tell him. Another villager found the box and called me and I picked it up. He said another box to someone else landed in the street a block away. I still haven't heard from UPS and they are probably still scratching their heads.

I have had the same problem. I had to call Amazon, as difficult as it is to reach a real person, and explain to them about new house popping up here. I told them that Google Maps won’t find us but the WAZE App and The Villages App will. It seems to be better but I’ll find out today if Wayfair finds me!

Nana2Teddy 12-31-2022 07:56 AM

Same here in the new areas of DeLuna. We’re instructing delivery drivers (for furniture, etc) when they call to use WAZE app, which mostly works. Amazon is still delivering to wrong houses on occasion though, and some of those houses are vacant, so the packages aren’t found.

We set up a 3-month mailbox account at SafeShip in Magnolia Plaza last month while still in a rental, but decided to start taking our chances with delivery here at our new home and so far we’ve had good luck.

What Three Words App

what3words /// The simplest way to talk about location

I know none of the shipping options use this "yet", but it's catching on quickly.

What Three Words will show your EXACT location down to a three square foot area.

You can edit google map to show the street leading to you and your house I did a few years ago - search for how

dennisgavin 12-31-2022 08:41 AM

We had a package of N95 masks show up at my wife's brother's house who ls a snowbird from Washington state. It was for someone in Casson Hammock. No similarity in name, address etc. Can't figure out how it got there. WE delivered the package but there was no one at home. WHen they get it they'll be scratching their heads I'm sure.

jojoturf 12-31-2022 09:24 AM

Already asked Post Office if our new address in Villages of Richmond was in their system & it was. We close late Jan. UPS hands off deliveries to USPS sometimes…..ask about that. Good luck.

pauld315 12-31-2022 10:53 AM

If you have an account with UPS you can go in and provide directions to you house. I had to do this on all the delivery websites when our house was new

When we moved here in 2020 our area had changed from Wildwood to zThe Villages with a different Zip code. To find us you had to use Wildwood for the city for over a year. Google was the last gps to get it right.

Kelevision 12-31-2022 11:22 AM

I live in Hawkins and my google maps address and food delivery still come up as Wildwood with a different zip code from my Villages mailing address and I’ve been here nearly 2 years.

sandyblanquera@gmail.com 12-31-2022 11:53 AM

In your delivery instructions tell them the address is new and can only be found using Waze. We are on our second new house and this has helped.

richdell 12-31-2022 12:01 PM

I've been in Monarch Grove for over two years and Google Maps still insists I live in Sumterville. Fortunately, haven't had any packages get lost.

rjwenger 12-31-2022 05:32 PM

We closed in Richmond 12/1. No issues with UPS or Fed Ex. Once they find you, no issues again. Only one problem where Fed Ex dropped packages on two different times to the same number house but different street. As others have said, this area is new to them. Suspect you will be happy with the service once they do find you.

Wonder if OP will update on resolution seems they never do.

Stopped at Fedex and UPS in Leesburg and gave them directions. They said that should take care of it. We'll see.

Go into to Google Maps and add your house, I had to do it twice here in Deluna before Google approved it. After that I have not had a problem.

Oldragbagger 01-01-2023 10:21 AM

It will take awhile for new streets to populate on the maps. You can speed the process along by reporting your street and address on the map apps in your phone. Even that takes a couple weeks, but it is better than waiting months.
You will need to screenshot your location on the map, then take photos of the street signs and your house showing the address.
The last new house we moved into we didn’t realize we could do that and we had to go to the UPS and FEdEx facilities to pick up our packages for months.

dadspet 01-01-2023 11:31 AM

You have to remember UPS is a government business. Recently I had an overnight delivery that took 5 days to reach me. I've lowered my expectations!

GPFan47 01-01-2023 11:41 AM

What's the name of your street? I'll try to get it added to Google Maps. It doesn't happen overnight but you can see by other neighborhoods south of Hwy 44, it does happen eventually. There are ways to speed up the process.

Thanks. It's Powhite Place, 3 streets south of Tharp Ave. I didn't realize you could do that until I saw an earlier post. I tried adding it this morning, but am unsure if I succeeded.

MsPCGenius 01-01-2023 12:31 PM

Use "Wildwood" vs The Villages

To support what others have mentioned, use a mailing address in Google of Wildwood, FL.

Ecuadog 01-01-2023 01:41 PM

CosmicTrucker mentioned what3words. With it, you can find anyplace on earth with three words, even at sea. More and more police, fire, rescue and such are using it. Download the app and you'll know where you are. Your friend can show you at exactly which entrance to the stadium that he's waiting.

These three words (hush.domain.ejection) point to a 3 meter square (about 10' x 10') on Burgess Drive at Powhite Place.

Perhaps you meant USPS is a government business. UPS is a private compant.
