Flooring suggestions

Good morning. I am new to the area and would like to replace the carpeting in my home. does none have recommendations on local flooring people that you have used and have been happy with?

villagetinker 01-10-2023 12:25 PM

I really do not like the echos from tile floor, especially in the bedrooms. I found Mohawk Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring (Lowes) that was an easy DIY project, and I did not have to empty the room for contractors to remove carpeting and install new flooring. Took me 2 weeks 2 to 3 hours a day to do 2 bedrooms, 3 closets, 1 hallway (about 800+ square feet), and all the rooms were useable every day, saved $$$$, total material cost was under $1500 about 3 years ago. Very happy with the results, and this flooring is relatively quiet almost as quiet as carpet.

In my opinion, a house that has the same flooring throughout will be more valuable when the resell it. I remember looking at a new, million dollar house in Pine Hills that had wood, tile, and carpet floors, and it took a long time to sell.

Look at EVP (engineered vinyl plank). Do NOT use The Floor Shoppe as the installer/contractor; you will be sorry if you use them.

Michael 61 01-10-2023 02:04 PM

I just purchased a home, and am too looking at flooring options. I want to get rid of the carpet from the bedrooms, and not fond of the rolled vinyl that came with the rest of the house - looking at vinyl planking - but I am not a handy person, so DIY is not an option for me.

I just had the carpet replaced in my bedrooms by Roberto's at Colony Plaza. Installers moved all the furniture after I had removed all the stuff on the bookcases, dressers, tables, etc. I had heard good things about Roberto's before I chose them. I am happy with my carpet and the installers.

Same here. They were able to match the existing flooring in the house we purchased and did an AMAZING job of install and completion. HIGHLY recommend them!

Fred Nickle Tile replaced carpets in 3 bedrooms with tile. We did 2 rooms to match the rest of the house and one with different color. We are very satisfied and can't say enough good about their installers, Patty and Nathan.

The next door neighbor had the same job done by Fred Nickle Tile and is delighted.

Find Fred Nickle Tile at Lake Sumter Landing, (352) 295-5800.

Just had Robertos do our entire house with LVP and 6” base. In and out in 5 days. They even clean your blinds, fans, doors etc after job is done. Extremely happy with quality of work.

jonathanb 01-11-2023 05:51 AM

Take it from a former Villages sales rep. If you can make sure the same flooring is used in the whole house. It is ok to have carpet in bedrooms but not other types of tile or vinyl. Use luxury plank vinyl easier on the feet and no grout to worry about. I STRESS DO NOT USE The Floor Shoppe. Use Great Lakes or Roberto’s.

HJBeck 01-11-2023 05:58 AM

Eastern Flooring. We had them install flooring in our entire house when we moved to TV. VERY GOOD JOB.

But it's so easy! Unless you have mobility issues, I bet you'd feel awesome from learning how to do it. Youtube is such a great mentor.

Stick and Stone in Wildwood.

Jewelz 01-11-2023 06:31 AM

We just had LA flooring in Wildwood come out and measure for us. They had great prices and awesome customer service. We have several friends that have used them and are very happy. Anxiously awaiting our new floor!

hotrodgirl 01-11-2023 06:38 AM

We used East Coast Flooring in Ocala for the 2nd time. Like their fair approach and pricing. Installers professional and considerate.

I would call Todd from Royal Palm Flooring. Royal Palm carries a wide variety of flooring, their pricing is very competitive and he and his crew do an excellent job of installation. They remove the baseboard, repaint and reinstall as well as put felt no scratch pads under all of your furniture and finally bring one of their people in to do a walk through with you to address a review installation before payment.

bowlingal 01-11-2023 07:01 AM

In Wildwood, there is a store called LA Flooring. It is family owned and has great customer service and prices. MUCH cheaper than Roberto's. Same great quality. I had LVP flooring installed, had the carpet pulled up, they moved the heavy furniture. They also removed the baseboard, repainted and put back on. NO 1/4 round molding ( which is the cheap way) and looks cheap. AND no deposit required!! Located in the Save A Lot shopping center.

Others have mentioned bad experiences with The Floor Shoppe. My experience with them

was not good either.

Avoid Great Lakes in Wildwood like you would your mother-in-law. It would take pages for me to describe all the problems I had with their salesman. The major cause was that I wanted to buy only the materials as the contractor doing our remodel had his own employee who would lay the floor. The salesman kept trying to add the cost of installation into the bill and would not relent, going so far as to call my wife and tell her the warranty would be void if GL did not install the flooring. I had to call the manufacturer to straighten that out.

I forgot to mention that I am puzzled by the negative comments about The Floor Shoppe. After the multitude of problems I had with Great Lakes in Wildwood, it was the Floor Shoppe which straightened out the matter. I wasn't only happy with The Floor Shoppe, I was grateful.

Roberto’s…

Roberto’s great staff with wide choices, fair prices, all around good people. We went with LVP also… very happy with it. Warm, easy to clean, looks great. The installers were superb and respectful They worked around existing large furniture in each room. Roberto’s even sent a cleaning crew to follow up after the installation. We would definitely use them again.

I had wood-look tile put in wherever there was carpet. Roberto’s did an amazing job, start to finish.

Bridget Staunton 01-11-2023 08:10 AM

I will give A plus for Floor Shoppe on 301 they did all our floors and did an outstanding job. They also do most of the work for TV

Kingsport 01-11-2023 08:11 AM

Roberto’s Flooring

We were very pleased with Roberto’s. They have an excellent selection of wood, vinyl and ceramic tile. They can remove the old ceramic tile and replace it, if necessary. However, the ceramic tile removal process is very dusty. Their price will include removing the old molding and replacing it. Not all flooring companies quote this. We found they had the best price, overall.

LaneyBeckler 01-11-2023 08:13 AM

We also used L.A. Flooring and were really pleased with their products, customer service, prices, and end result!

Carlsondm 01-11-2023 08:31 AM

Floor Masters matched our glued tile beautifully and laid vinyl plank. Love it.

GoneFishing 01-11-2023 08:47 AM

When we bought our house we had both carpet and tile removed and replaced with Luxury Vinyl Planking from the Floor Shoppe on 301. We shopped around to all the places mentioned on here and found that they all carried what we had selected. The price at the Floor Shoppe was less than all the others. The installation was completed on time and was done in a very professional way. We would definitely use them again.

East coast flooring is here today doing our flooring. They are great and professional. They work hard and fast and everything is clean and organized. Our floors are looking great!

Floating Floor Specialist Call Frank @ 1-352-805-0377 excellent work at a fair price. Looks great and quiet. Franks workers are very skilled, polite and efficient. We’ve used Franks company twice and will use them again if needed.

You are kidding? I went and visited my rental that I bought In July for the first time in October. I was shocked when my rental said that it was "linoleum"! Could have fooled me and it did........I will be putting down the rest in the hall and living and dining area. Now that I know this it will be MUCH cheaper to do. I did do LVP and they give alot when you walk on them. You do not have to pull anything up other than carpet......Mine was the colors I wanted and felt just like the LVP I have what the builder put down for the info.......I am not going to redo it all.....been there done that......looks just as nice as my LVP I used already..........just sayin

Roberto’s #1

juddfl 01-11-2023 02:19 PM

I had Roberto's do my flooring and they did a great job. He now has 4 locations that I know about. I went to the one on Hwy 301 in Oxford because that was the only location he had at that time. Call 352-748-9663. He does other things, but flooring is his specialty.

Our whole house was done by East Coast flooring. Did a great job and they will even remove the molding and paint it for a small fee.

JwizChick 01-11-2023 05:11 PM

I’ve used The Floor Shoppe twice, Rey pleased both times. I think the problem is with their sub-contractors.

daniel200 01-11-2023 06:16 PM

I used The Floor Shoppe last summer to replace carpet with ceramic tile. The entire job went exactly as planned and without problem.

However, the installation was completed by a Guatemala man with little English (I do speak Spanish however). He did the entire job by himself (which surprised me because some of the furniture moving was very heavy) in two days. I found out in discussion with him that he was a subcontractor and not an employee of the Floor Shoppe. His contract was on a “per job” arrangement.

But, he did an excellent job. And the next day The Floor Shoppe sent a supervisor over to do a walk through and do a final inspection to make sure that i was happy with the installation

I do not know if the other flooring companies use subcontractors or not. But that would seem to add a quality risk to the installation. I suspect it is very hard to find people wanting to do these knee and back breaking types of work

Whoever, you choose as a supplier, I would encourage you to ask and understand who will do the installation.

We got bids from six different flooring companies before we went with Floormaster on 301. They beat everyone's price and did a beautiful, professional job. They also included base moulding. We had luxury vinyl planking through out the house and it's amazing. We always get compliments on the floor. Ask for JR and tell him Craig sent you. Get other bids and they will surely beat them in price.

polirudb 01-12-2023 07:39 AM

Roberto's (Allen Jr. at Colony Plaza) just completed our flooring job last week. Liro and his crew removed our existing tile everywhere in the house (except for the bedrooms) and took up the carpets in the bedrooms. They did an absolutely superb job. My wife and could not be happier. Tile removal was completed in less than a day, the rest of the installation took 4 days. Cleaning crew came afterwards and cleaned entire house. We got estimates from four different places. including the Floor Shoppe in Wildwood and Best Flooring in Lady Lake. Liked them all, but went with Roberto's because of their reputation. Very pleased with the entire experience and would absolutely use them again.
