Barbers in The Villages
 

As a newbie, I need to find a barber, ideally south of 466- seeking a traditional barber, and not a “Supercuts” kinda place. Thanks.

I prefer “Brandi’s Place” 1102 Main St Wildwood, Place is clean and charges $8 for men and $10 for women

Cal's barber shops, 4 locations. I use Colony Plaza. Men, $16, women, $19.

Since the pandemic began, I have cut my own hair using a Flowbee. I am happy with the results and I am going to continue.

Why is Cals in Brownwood 20 for men’s haircut?

I don't know unless that includes a shampoo, which I don't get.

Because they can, patrons are paying it.

Who is a good barber in Colony at Cals?

Cal's, Lake Sumter Landing. Tom is my guy. $16 every ten weeks or so with a $4 tip. I've paid a lot more for a lot less.

I have used Norma for many years at the Colony Cal's and would highly recommend her.

The Country Barber Shop at 1004 W Dixie Ave, Leesburg, FL 34748. They don't take plastic so cash or checks only. Also is best to call for an appointment.

Bought a pair of electric clippers many years ago.
Go over head with a Number 2 every couple of weeks, then taper edges.
Saved an awful lot of $$$.
No fuss haircut. No combing or styling. Just wash and walk!:thumbup:

I went 2 weeks ago and paid $20.00 for men's

I like Cals in Brownwood. Barbers Keith or Joe. Very good traditional haircut. About $16. I believe, plus tip.

She cuts both mine and my wife's. If she can satisfy my wife, you can be assured that she is good. We each paid 2-3 times more up north for cuts that weren't as good. You'll realize how good she is when you try to schedule an appointment.

I go to the Cal's Colony Plaza location every 3 weeks or so. The price for a men's haircut last week was $16 and $19 for women. I don't know about the other locations.

I'll second Brandi's. $8 is hard to beat unless you clip your own. Never had a bad cut there

I use the $8 cuts in Wildwood on 301. A bunch of Gals there cutting hair and do a decent job.

I use Brandi’s also never had a bad cut.

It’s $16 for mine at Brownwood…$20 with tip.

Went there once. It’s horrible. Bad haircut. It’s really a beauty parlor. Will never go back.
Too bad, it’s close to home.

Try the Cal's in Colony Plaza. It is just a barber shop, not a beauty parlor.

The problem with Cal's - any Cal's - and most of the bargain shops around The Villages area is that the haircuts are either "buzz cuts," or they look like a $10.00 haircut. I travel to Ocala for an upscale haircut every month. Get your hair cut around here and you'll get what you pay for, and maybe not even that.

As I understand it, Cal's doesn't train barbers. They just rent chairs to experienced barbers. The barbers are independent contractors. They do make appointments, so a really bad barber will not last long.

Me too although on #8. A lot of my friends cut their own too. That’s how I got started years ago.

Finding a barber
 

Lady Lake Barber Shop. All the barbers are very good. My husband goes to Lynn Hicks, lady barber/cosmetologist. She is very good. Haircuts, $16.00. Ladies go there also and get very good cuts from Dave. 342 Hwy 27/441 s. Lady Lake. 352-750-9919.
After the haircut, go to Cottage Inn for lunch, great soups.

:1rotfl: Years ago there was another place on 441 near Big Al's that had a sign out front that said "We fix $8.00 haircuts."
