They Got Me Again

Why doesn't The Village Trail fee department give us a "heads up" before our
trails fee becomes due for renewal.
They just got me for $4 today. I know that it doesn't seem like a big deal but
multiply that $4 by maybe it happening to 10K people a year and it turns into
real money. I feel disappointed in the present system.
Frustrated golfer

We have all asked that question. I have been here since 2007 and got hit once. I immediately added a yearly entry to my electronic email calendar about a month before it is due. I pay it well in advance of due date.

Considerate like a mate's birthday. They won't normally alert you, so it is up to you. If you forget shame on you.

But consider it a favor to your friends as they chuckle as you dig out your $4. They will be reminded to pay their trail fee, as will the 2 or 3 other groups standing in line. So, it really does not allow the number collected to be huge because of nice people like you.

Papa_lecki 01-20-2023 08:39 PM

I got two letters in the mail that my enhanced membership and trail fee were up for renewal.
Can renew 30 days prior to the end of your period.

Sumter Landing CDD approves new golf tee time system

The Sumter Landing Community Development District is taking the first step to ensure the Automated Tee Time System remains seamless for all residents throughout the community.

The SLCDD board of supervisors on Monday, on recommendation from the Project Wide Advisory Committee, unanimously approved a new 10-year agreement for the tee time system that also includes an additional platform for online renewals of executive trail passes.

The previous agreement expired in November 2021. At that time supervisors from PWAC and the Amenity Authority Committee requested some changes to the proposed renewal.

Because it is so easy for you to set a reminder in your phone for yourself?

MrFlorida 01-21-2023 08:42 AM

I just mark the date on my computers calendar, works for me.

You answered your own question!

"Why doesn't The Village Trail fee department give us a heads up before our trails fee becomes due for renewal" BECAUSE WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE FORGET, "it turns into
real money".

villager7591 01-21-2023 08:57 AM

They got me once last month. Starter informed me that 'soon' the system will start sending out 'time for renewal' notices. I am not confident...

I always add it to my calendar for about a week before it expires, pretty simple.

:agree: That does sound pretty simple....... but not as much fun as complaining and blaming someone else. ;)

DonH57 01-21-2023 10:25 AM

I'm glad we can renew on line. I staple the reminder card to my monthly scheduling calender and circle the date it's due.

dtennent 01-21-2023 01:00 PM

You can check on your expiration date on thevillages.net. Go to the golf section, click on “Review/Change Personlized Settings”. At the bottom of the page is the expiration date for your annual trail fees.

I am sure District staff worked many a night on how the residents could be screwed on the renewal timing. Do you actually know where that money goes?
The process could be better, sound like that’s coming.

:ho: Been paying it going on 19 years and got caught for the $4 a few times and didn't know that..... Thank you. Also never thought to complain about it online.

I have lived here for 15 years and never once missed paying the trail fee. The date is marked in my small daily planner and on my digital calendar on my computer.
This is also the first year it could be paid online. How easy is that? :024:

ohhhh come on......put it on your phone

vinricci 01-22-2023 06:28 AM

Happened to us twice.

Rwirish 01-22-2023 07:31 AM

You are responsible for when your trail fee is due for renewal not others. Simply put it on your calendar.

What!! Time to take responsibility for actions taken - I put it in the calendar in my phone and don’t get caught as $4 will break the bank - just saying.

Rheinl271 01-22-2023 08:09 AM

Happened to me too, but I owned the lapse. However I discovered after the fact that I could renew it on line on the spot on my phone and showed the starter it was paid and saved $8.

This year they gave me a card that says “Your trail fee expires on _____________” I’ll put in the date and tape it to something on the golf cart. Last year I puta reminder on my iPhone calendar. It came up on MLK day when the Village staff had the day off.

Mrfriendly 01-22-2023 09:21 AM

What if no cash

So if your Trail Fee account expired unknowingly and you and your wife show up to play without any cash or plastic in your pocket does that mean you get turned away by the starter and drive away and shame?

frostola 01-22-2023 10:02 AM

I’m excited

We can now pay for our trail fee online from the comfort of our own home.

Perhaps, more productive to speak to whomever or whatever is the Trail fee department.
Suggested in the post, it doesn't seem like a big deal. I try to choose my battles. If, it is important. Posting on talk of the villages will probably not be effective.

BumpaOompa 01-22-2023 10:26 AM

Fool me once…

The first time my renewal came up for the Executive pass and the GHIN handicap membership I missed it and got nicked for both. In this day and age every entity with a subscription or membership sends out renewal notices so I assumed I would get one. I felt duped like the OP but then made a calendar entry to resolve. I’m glad to see The Villages finally stepping into the 21st century with their updated system.

NavyVet 01-22-2023 12:01 PM

Spouse puts reminder in appointment calendar for a week before it's due. Easy Peasey!

mikemalloy 01-22-2023 12:11 PM

This was previously mentioned but to find out your expiration date and renew on line go to the Golf the Villages website. Click on the "Membership enhancement portal" Put in your membership number and pin and see your expiration date and renew if you choose.

Easy fix - if the villages tee time system “upgrade” doesn’t send reminder, I take this year’s bill which I believe I still get hard copy and after paying it put it in my calendar book for next year a month before due. If I don’t receive bill/reminder I still know it’s due.

districtgov.org/ Scroll down the Quick List to Golf membership enhancements, sign in to your account and it will give you all the info about your membership, including Cart fee due date.
