Favorite Kevin Costner movie?

Kevin Costner - Wikipedia

One of his first movies was set in Reno, Nevada and called Stacy's Knights and was about a card sharp turning the tables on crooked casino owners.

My favorite Kevin Costner movie is The Untouchables. Kevin Costner filmography - Wikipedia

My technical services boss at the U of MN Law Library loved Dances with Wolves . She had been learning the Lakota language back then.

Field of Dreams

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Should have gotten an Oscar for that performance.

I like the music and the villain was extremely well played.

Did you notice that he used his American accent when other actors in the movie had an English accent?

A cinematic coup for sure.

Just watched that again. Great music and an OK plot. The Bodyguard - Rotten Tomatoes

I'm waiting for someone to pick "Waterworld".;)

WingedFoot78 01-22-2023 07:30 AM

Fat Chance. DWW is my favorite.

GaryKoca 01-22-2023 07:31 AM

Field of Dreams. Actually, I thought he was awful in Robin Hood. Trying to effect an English accent, then giving up after a while.

Open Range. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Yes. Alan Rickman. He played lots of villains.

Sadly, he was taken from us far too early.

I saw that with my Mom at the Petaluma Theater in CA and many were audience members were groaning in parts especially the recycling of pee.

She refused to go to The Postman which I probably saw at a theater in Palm Harbor, FL unless the Oldsmar 20 Theater had opened by then. The Postman - Rotten Tomatoes

Field of Dreams. Costner and James Earl Jones both shone in that movie, in my opinion.

Am I the only one who chooses No Way Out?

stinky88 01-22-2023 10:31 AM

I second that vote for “No Way Out.” First time I ever saw Kevin Costner and have loved him ever since!

We really liked a lot of his movies, but one of our favorites is The Guardian.

Favorite Kevin Costner movie (s)

Disclaimer: Ted’s wife speaking.

I enjoy all of his movies, including the ones that may not have been box-office winners. Just re-watched “For Love of the Game” - loved. I really enjoy his westerns - oh my, Dances with Wolves…. Also enjoy his “sports” movies. The Guardian was special too, Mr. Brooks was good but I prefer him not as a villain, lol. Another vote for “No Way Out”.

Guess it’s pretty obvious I just like all his movies, but if pressed, Dances with Wolves is my favorite, the scenery, music, plot were all well done.

His movie "Robin Hood" was panned because the critics said that he was NOT so good with accents. Personally, I was NOT bothered.

ThirdOfFive 01-22-2023 01:42 PM

Not a movie...but he was great in the TV miniseries Hatfields and McCoys.

I enjoyed that series and really love Yellowstone even if it is a lot like some soap opera.

jimjamuser 01-22-2023 02:50 PM

I like "Dances With Wolves" very much. I like "the Bodyguard". And I was one of the few people on planet Earth that like "Waterworld".

I liked "Open Range". That was a good pairing - Robert Duval and Costner.

I was NOT super thrilled with "Field of Dreams". Too nicey, nice for me.

Now......."Mr Brooks was NOT too nicey, nice.......so I really liked it. And I had lived near Portland, Or. for a few years, and not too many movies had been done about that city.

I liked "Wyatt Earp". I liked the plot and even the ending scene on the boat to Alaska.

jimjamuser 01-22-2023 05:26 PM

I have, sort of, gotten bored with "Yellowstone". I have NOT bothered to watch the 5th season. I saw the 1st 2 episodes of the prequel of "1883" when they were free on Paramount + and I liked it a lot, but NOT enough to order Paramount +.

1923 has a lot of action even though it is often hard to see how things connect.
