Dog poop.

...And, of course, the numerous "debates" which vilify bicycle riders.

Global warming and roundabouts are missing, and lets face it, Covid was number one for a long long time!

Bogie Shooter 01-25-2023 09:28 AM

Calling them debates is a stretch.

Kenswing 01-25-2023 09:29 AM

You forgot the various climate debates. And of course all of the threads that get hijacked into becoming climate debates.

Dog Poop in Stu's Village

Taltarzac725 01-25-2023 09:54 AM

Freeway noise or earlier train noise is missing. I recall that Talk Host had moved near where a train goes through nightly or something like that. He was up in the northwest part of the Villages near 301 and 42 in Marion County.

Global warming on golf courses that cut down trees but replaced herds of farting cows located next to turnpike noise that suddenly appeared after closing on a home that requires navigating a RB with snowbirds going the wrong way on their way to the overcrowded town squares, while getting passed by speeders, where dogs poop and owners don't clean up after them before waiting 2 hours to get a table in a restaurant that now adds 3% for using credit cards and serves lousy food at a premium cost.

Lol.

Like the "perfect country-western song, by David Allen Coe:

"Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train"

You forgot to shoehorn "the bleaching of the coral reefs" in there...

Oh, and the deafening noise from the "stinky" golf carts, mowers, edgers and leaf blowers that seem to happen 24/7...

Where’s the “None of the above” option?

However will say I did vote for my favorite village.

What about dogs in squares? Dogs in restaurants? Dogs in grocery carts? Dogs on hot pavement? I find this poll to be lacking.

Global warming for sure in the top 3, the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the world population (just finished checking stats) I think by far #1 is snowbirds and entitled residents is right up there

The greedy developer use Covid as an excuse to take away many amenities we had up to March, 2020. If that wasn't enough, they continue to gouge us for green fees on championship golf courses. Part of the problem is that we're now in the third generation of the Morse family and now they have to cut the pie into many more pieces. It will likely get worse; it certainly won't get better.

About 2 to 3 years ago, we talking about something dumb, and Stu from NYC, said he was going to develop the Village of Stu, that basically had fixed all the complaints that was in all the threads.
We all then added improvements to the Village of Stu - it comes up every once in a while, mostly because it’s so simple.

To further ADD to a scintillating and comprehensive list...............wait for it..............Buffalo "burps" ( BB) thickening the reflective CO2 layer in the upper atmosphere and adding to Global warming. And, of course, the over-reporting of Covid cases. Also, who could forget the keystone gem of ALL-TIME......the Validity of CV Vaccinations (VCVV.

Could you please elaborate upon which amenities we had prior to March 2020 that we no longer have????? Also please explain how a $2.50 increase over last season's $47 rate, is "gouging" when it was a 5.3% increase in a year that gave us 8+% inflation?

So, here's an alternative for you. You could move to my friend's condo building for which he pays an HOA fee of $650/month and gets one outdoor unheated swimming pool and one 20x30 foot gym. You could then go play TPC Sawgrass for $600/round.

Or a person could sell their golf clubs and use the money to buy tennis balls at $3 per can and go to a free public tennis court and get a REAL cardiovascular workout. Or buy $ 40 running shoes and go to a free park or track and get a REAL workout. REAL thinking men (and women) don't pay $600/round to play golf. No way, Jose.

I would pay what they're asking to play Pebble Beach... Once... Same with Sawgrass... Once... To me (and apparently thousands of other "real thinking men (and women)"), it's worth it...

Some people would never pay $500 for a meal...

Some experiences are worth the money...

I remember being in Bermuda, 25 or so years ago. The boss and I went to a fancy restaurant, in an old mansion where the menus were printed on parchment paper, rolled and tied with a ribbon. Blue for the gentlemen and pink for the ladies. Only the blue ribbon ones had prices.

My wife commented on that there were no prices on the menu. I laughed, "Oh YES THERE ARE!!!"

She kept asking what things cost and I told her to order what she wanted, as this was a once in a lifetime experience, figuring we wouldn't get back to Bermuda any time soon.

Anyway, to make a long story longer, it was one of the BEST meals and dining experiences we've ever had. Well worth the ridiculous price!

To quote Ferris Bueller: "Ferris : It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

VERY interesting post and a good rationalization (some might NOT use THAT word, instead maybe an explanation) for the reason/ justification for going to a restaurant and paying $ 500 for one (uno) meal for 2 people. I guess that proves that there are 2 kinds of people in the world.......the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS. I guess that tend to relate MORE to the latter group...........in ALL things from meals to golfing for a $600 fee.
......Those things would NEVER enter my mind. I would think that I could use that money to buy a boat and some snorkeling equipment, which I have done, and entered into the wonderful underwater world of a Florida coral reef........in 1973 when there WAS STILL living coral off of the MIAMI area. That IS my idea of a MAGICAL experience, one that I guided myself to and achieved an adventure.
......Personally, I see no, ZERO adventure in having a waiter guide me to a table and wipe my behind for me and then feed my FACE with food. That IS just personal, NOT my thing.
........I can see how someone MIGHT (?) LIKE a restaurant experience. It's not for me.
.........I can understand that there are "different strokes for different folks" and there are NO laws broken by trips to a restaurant. That's just NOT me. Give me the extra money and I will buy more tennis balls and maybe a new basketball and some new running shoes. And maybe I'll save up to DRIVE to Alaska and sleep in a tent with grizzle bear tracks nearby, which I have done.......different strokes.

Yes, and to add to that having a few ovens cooking food in one place probably creates less of a carbon footprint than hundreds of ovens scattered all over the place, and hence reduces that "dreaded" CO2 and global warming. But does it do so more or less than buffalo burps????:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Sorry, you forgot to calculate into the equation the multiple trips of the (restaurant-full) number of people in their in-FER-nal combustion cars and worse-yet Golf Carts versus the same number of people that might stay home and cook on an electric stove or microwave and receive that energy from STATIONARY power generating plant that could BE MORE EFFICIENT and could even use solar, wind, tide, or other almost ZERO polluting sources ........or even one of the NEW GENERATION nuclear plants that are SUPER safe. Incidentally, ALL-gas homes cause a lot of leaks in the transmission pipes and cause CO2 (and you KNOW what that does. and the restaurants PROBABLY use gas grills.......so indoor pollution, which is unhealthy.
.........So, thanks for the question. I am happy to help out with those environmental calculations, they are MY SPECIALTY.
......PS.....I have to run now and "BURP" my Buffalo......Heh, Heh, that sounds like something that Butthead and Beavis would do !

Your condescension and derision is duly noted...

As is your lame attempt at "classism"...

I guess some people can appreciate the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo, while others are more into "Velvet Elvis" paintings and Franklin Mint figurines... (see, two can play that game...)

Granted, that high-class restaurants exist so that proves that some people support and enjoy them. Attending restaurants has become an "American thing". We go to restaurants even MORE than the French who are famous for them. Like I said "different strokes" I just wanted to VOICE my side of the concept of "going out" to restaurants. I find it obsequious, which is a word wealth word that I don't get to use very often. I would guess that in the Villages that probably only 10 to 15 % of our lovely folks would agree with me (in avoidance of those dreaded time-wasters)......and money. I feel that my opinion IS an outlier - yet that's me and I am comfortable with ME !!!!!
