Publix Pharmacy
Anyone use Publix Pharmacy? Wondering how they're with stock and customer service. I know Publix employees are very nice but how about Publix Pharmacy.
How about the app is it good, it doesn't have very good ratings in the app store. I've used CVS all my life but they seem so busy all the time and have problems keeping stock on certain meds. Any input is appreciated. |
I use Publix Pharmacy and I would recommend it. Not nearly as crowded as CVS or Walgreens.
|
We use Publix also. Specifically the one at Lake Deaton Plaza. We've been going there for two years now and have always had great service.
The app is pretty week but is useful enough to download it. |
need to check with your insurance, in my case, CVS is the preferred pharmacy, for my wife Publix. In any case the people are friendly, but there have been a few occasions where they were short on my wife's prescriptions, she is now using mail in for most, and the local pharmacy for the occasional short term drugs.

Publix at Highway 44 and Powell Road was frequently out of my meds. I use Walgreens on 466A and Powell Road now.

They tend to be pretty great. I've had only one negative experience with them in the three years I've been getting prescriptions filled there. I price-shop, and they're usually the best if you have a high co-pay with regular insurance, and your meds are cheaper than the co-pay.
On the other hand, I've discovered that Premier Pharmacy is a preferred provider for my current rx plan, and I can now get one of my meds for only $4 and the other is $1 - for a 90-day supply. So I'll stick with them this year. Who knows what FloridaBlue will stick me with next year. I'm retired, I have time to price shop. It's an adventure. |
Lana, Jeff and the entire staff of the Publix Pharmacy at Traverse Trail have been exceptional each and every time I've worked with them. I would recommend them with unbridled enthusiasm!

We use them, think they are great. They even know my name and address me by name when I go in. I have NEVER met one employee in The Pharmacy who has been anything other than very accommodating and helpful. I shop Southern Trace.

FWIW - We use the one at Lake Deaton and they have done a great job, Magnolia Plaza is a lot closer but they have had a lot of issues and are often out of medication. Like many, our insurance dictates more of where we get our meds. Just this year I had to move over to Amazon for my medications and so far it's been a great experience. On some of the generic items I get a better price because I am a Prime member than my insurance rate. My wife is at CVS now, tried Mail Order (CVS Caremark) and they always screwed things up, so she went back to CVS local. I still use Publix for my last minute medical needs though.

CVS and Walgreens seem so overwhelmed these days. I would do mail order but some of meds are ineligible. Thanks everyone for your input. |

Well had my first encounter with Publix Pharmacy and it was pleasant, it was more personable than just being another number at CVS or Walgreens.
I like that the Pharmacist isn't up on a higher level than me. How did that trend get started, it's like looking up to a Judge on the elevated bench. lol. |

I use Publix at Mulberry for short-term medications. I’ve found them to be helpful, professional and have had medications I’ve needed in stock. I use mail order through CVS Caremark when I need a 90-day supply of anything.
|
I use Publix at Magnolia Plaza. It is better than CVS or Walgreens for wait times.
|
I think they are fine the people are good. And only issue I have with them is they fill most of the prescriptions off site so if you're at a doctor at 8 AM don't expect your medicine until after 3 PM the next day.
|
CVS is the most expensive pharmacy to use. Walgreens is the second most expensive. I changed to Publix several years ago after using Walgreens. Publix gives me my diabetic medication for free. Other scripts are much, much cheaper and with good rx, even better. they text me when my scripts are ready, and the people behind the counter are always helpful and friendly. I use the Publix at Colony.

To save money, we use Express Scripts which is our insurance company's default provider (cheaper and they will send 90 days worth). However, for the non-routine prescriptions, I would definitely use Publix.

I usually use Walgreen’s but have used Publix when Walgreen’s doesn’t have the medication I need. I had most of my Covid vaccines there and, this is interesting, when I needed Cipro and my insurance wouldn’t approve it, my doctor told me it was FREE at Publix. She was right!

Have heard nothing but good about Publix pharmacy. Have used it and very, very satisfied.
|
All Publix employees, including those in the Pharmacy, are very nice. However, despite their best intention, I found that due to upper management's hiring constraints the pharmacy was not adequately staffed to keep up with all the necessary back-and-forth with insurance, doctors, and customers.
I was surprised to find the Walmart pharmacy to be more on top of things. And the Walmart pharmacy app (now part of the regular Walmart app) is miles ahead of the Publix pharmacy app! Quote:

Prescriptions at Publix
I have used Publix over 15 yrs and have never had the problems my husband had, who used Winn-Dixie. Publix is great to work with, any questions, they help out. My prescriptions, if I do refills by phone are done in 1-2 days.
|
When a pharmacy has any Rx with refill orders for the same. There is NO EXCUSE for them not pre-ordering your meds.
I personally use a single-proprietor pharmacy and they never have issues. I am an hour away from TV, so Z-Hills won't help you up there. |

ASIDE-all CVS, Publix and Medicare were polite, trying to help. But, being stubborn I got it resolved. I felt bad after all the time effort the store personnel put in to help me I was FORCED to buy it mail order |
Do not use one on Bella Cruz, the entire dept left and the new staff are horrible!!! Dangerously horrible.

So far so good and their app is barebones which may be a good thing the CVS app is a convoluted mess.

Walgreens can’t walk in Publix Pharmacy’s shadow. There may be a blip here and there but have you ever watched the intense work that they do? They are amazing people and I have only had one run in with a Pharmacist at the Store on BICHARA. I let it go because of the stress they all face from the second they punch in.
CVS is a no go for us ever. They are rookies up and down the east coast in our experience The first time I ever was let down by OptumRx was last week. The medication was out of stock and they missed it and never let me know. It was critical medicine too. They apologized and called the prescription into PUBLIX. It was filled in an hour! Publix#1. |
