Are there people who can accept delivery

Hi. I have ordered a new washer and dryer but will not be in town to accept delivery.

I may have someone who can let them in but just in case:

Are there people in TV for hire who can let the delivery people in to install the items?

Usually if you have secured the services of a Home Watch service that is something that they would provide. Am not aware that there is anyone who would accept the liability of having the keys to your home and opening it to strangers as a business. Maybe a neighbor is your best bet for assistance.

I am sure you could arrange to have someone be there, but I personally have had to reject delivery and know others who have done the same. Somebody would have to accept the item and once accepted it is yours. I would try to delay delivery until you can be there.

Fortunately, the delivery is from Costco and they accept returns on just about everything.

What part of TV are you located in?

If it is a newly purchased new home, your realtor may be willing to help you.

I believe you should always be present for a delivery. Just in case there’s an issue there’s lots of nice neighbors in here that would be more than happy to open up a garage door probably. But what if the unit is dented and scratched what if the unit didn’t work can you come back in 30 or 90 days do you still have your warranty? Just something to think about.
If you’re still comfortable receiving it without seeing it, I would just ask your next-door neighbor or maybe your real estate agent if that was fairly recent

Cancel your trip or push out the installation. Not right to have someone accept that responsibility damaged item or not installed correctly

You could have whoever agrees to be there for the delivery use Facetime, Skype, or another telepresence application to allow you to see the deliveries and decide whether to accept them or not. I do this all the time at the store with my wife at home showing her the selection and asking which package she wants. Our realtor used Facetime to walk through our new home here as we were in the process of selling our old home in another state.

Dave5....why in the world would you schedule a delivery when you weren't there? Not the smartest move. So many things can go wrong

Sounds like very poor planning on your part! Cancel delivery and reschedule when You’re home

Arrange the delivery with someone being there. I don't think you need to get all worried about anything that could happen - seems a bit too paranoid. Many are worried about nothing here and critical of others. People do this all the time. Maybe your realtor can help or suggest someone that will. Good luck.

Reschedule for a day when you will in town. Simple solution

Beyond Home Watch, there are some assistants that offer their service for shopping, errands etc. You might be able to find one of them. But I will say having had 3 shipments of appliances go wrong in the past year - 1 at my home and 2 that I was accepting, for a friend. It is best if you are present, to watch the installation and check to make sure they are running correctly.

Wow ! "poor planning", WOW ! "Social media" can be such a nasty, judgmental, hurtful thing. Won't even attempt to bring to light all the reasons a person may not be able to do that... from an immediate NEED at the Florida home, to an ill relative with no knowable "return to Florida" time... just amazing how people on here can ask so honestly for HELP, advice, and get judgment, arrogance, and lack of understanding of others. No wonder people feel so bad, so depressed, when they ask an innocent question, and are judged with "POOR planning" on your part. Hard to understand, it really is. Would a response of "SEE if it would be possible to reschedule" do.... without the low blow of "poor planning" on your part, meaning, you are obviously not very bright. We all need to try our best to ignore such remarks...but it's difficult.
