MRI appointment

I need an MRI and Lake Imaging is scheduling 2 weeks out.

There are imaging places, when I use search, that say same day. Has anyone used any of these places?

Any suggestions would be appreciated and I am willing to travel. I need to find out what my problem is.

Thank you!

My husband just had the same issue with Lake Imaging. He was able to get a same day appointment with Rayus Radiology 809 County Road four66.

MIT does radiology - MRI etc

My "partner in crime" needed a cat scan (asap) and Lake couldn't get him in til ??? It was a long while. After a lot of rigamarole the dr. was able to get him in at Rayus in the Summit Plaza on Rolling Acres and 466 this week. Don't know what's up with Lake and I'm not going to blame "high season" but this was a first at our house for sure. Maybe it's a staffing reason. I had to have a test a few months ago and they were fine back then. Lake has several locations too but guess that didn't make any difference for us.

PugMom 02-22-2023 04:43 PM

consider yourself lucky, mine was 1 month out. try Akumin in Leesburg. not well known but VERY accomodating

starflyte1 02-22-2023 07:46 PM

Thank you, I have appt next Monday at Rayus in Lady lake. I might get one sooner if I drive to Turkey Lake in MCO. It is only 50 miles. Am thinking about doing that.

Thanks again for the replies.

I tried to get my wife a non-emergency MRI at Lake Imaging in November of 2022. After multiple calls asking if they could schedule (as we hit our deductible in 2022) I am still waiting on a call back. I am guessing that call is never coming. Our family previously enjoyed Lake Imaging, we will not be using them in the future.

I just had an MRI done at Lake Imaging but it did take almost 3 weeks to get an appointment

Priebehouse 02-24-2023 06:40 AM

We feel your pain...

Trying to get an MRI for my wife has been a nightmare. 2-3 weeks out, office staff having to change the referral, but the biggest pain is with the authorization from the INSURANCE COMPANY! I used to work for Blue Cross and the authorization process was a pain years ago and even worse now. That has been the biggest issue with the facilities is the amount of time it takes to get the approval... and it's not only with Lake Medical, but Advent Health independent providers, etc. They know about how long it takes to get the approvals. Funny that you can get one tomorrow if you are paying cash...:swear:

Might have been a blessing for you.
Lady Lake has very mixed reviews.......including the quality of the image (which is the only reason to go).

Thmixon 02-24-2023 06:56 AM

Don’t do an MRI at Lake Imaging. There other services are great but they are deplorable on the MRI authorization. I dropped off my orders on Jan 27th. The request still has not been submitted to insurance and you can’t talk to anyone to escalate.

Ended up scheduling with Rayus. They did the approval in one day but appointment was still 2 weeks out if you want local. If you will drive toward Orlando, you can get in quicker.

TomPerry 02-24-2023 06:58 AM

There is a nationwide shortage of doctors, nurses and medical technicians! Without sufficient personnel the only option is to extent appointment dates out. I had a client who knew three Canadian surgeons that opened a surgical clinic in the Cayman Islands and patients use to fly down and pay cash for much needed surgeries because of the long delay times! The problem is universal!

New CAT Facility - Same day appointments

A new CAT scan facility (with a new $3m Siemens scanner) has opened in Tampa. They are offering a Heart & Lung scan for $79. We went yesterday and got a full body scan (being overly pro-active on health).

They can schedule next day appointments.

Craft Body Scan
5332 Avion Park Drive 100
Tampa, FL
(813) 851-1000.

Unless it is crucial, two weeks is more than reasonable. If it is crucial, ask your Doctor to ask for the MRI “Stat”. Did this once and had same day MRI.

Stat to Lake Imaging doesn’t mean a&/t. They are slipping away in the last several years. They’ll be hanging with KMart & Sears soon.

Do yourself a favor and check out another place. 1st driveway on the right on 466 when you turn from Rolling Acres has a great place for you. Sorry I don’t remember the name. Good luck.

I dont know their schedule but 2 of our Doctors prefer the results from Sand Lake Imaging on 466.
We have always used the recommendation of our Doctors.

Is Sand Lake Imaging still in business or has Rayus replaced it?

2+ weeks and some of these off locations won't do patients with pacemakers.

Took 45 minute wait on hold to even able to schedule appointment.
I had a Mammo and sonogram
There Monday And my doctor was not pleased with results or recommendation. People
Waiting forever, new Mammo
Tech being trained by another and needing lots of instruction. Sonogram results inadequate/unusable just showing gray shadow. Doctor comes in says inconclusive and recommends a future Mammo with dye. I asked for
Him to feel small pea like lump and he insisted just hard scar tissue but did not feel correct site. Have to start all over in Tampa.
Lake Imaging used to be the go
To place. Not sure any more. Also noticed more negative reviews which did not exist before.

your story is the exact same as many i've heard, they will not call you. get this--when i made repaeted calls as to whether i could get their MRI, they told me they were out of the solutions & inks (?) to perform the procedure, & i needed to wait until the new supply came in. :a20:

those machines need to be serviced & callibrated regulary to get optimum performance. ask when the last time it was done, & if you get a puzzzled face from the nurse/tech, you have your answer

Mri

I’m having the same issue. Called Rayus this morning and their earliest appointment for a non-contrast MRI of lower back was March 9th. Essentially the same as Lake

starflyte1 02-24-2023 11:47 AM

I am the OP. The other day I was given an appointment for next Monday for MRI at Rayus. I asked to be put on wait list and this morning I received a call for MRI today at 4pm!

My order was Stat, but Lake Imaging had me scheduled for March 8.

I would highly recommend Rayus Imaging.

Thanks for replying to this post.

Hard to believe they can be so incompetent and careless to not keep track of supplies needed for MRI. They will lose an incredible amount of business as a result of not being able to do MRI's.

I highly recommend Medical Imaging Therapeutics (MIT)- Dr Jacobson. Very competent. Have used their services several times. Always a very satisfying experience.

Sorry to add another non sequitur...but one day we went to Subway (Colony) and they had run out of every kind of bread except Italian Herb/Cheese. That was okay for us but another patron went absolutely berserk, and left in a huff.

CoachKandSportsguy 02-26-2023 08:44 AM

From Coachk who works in a large hospital system in NE, there have been intermittent shortages of supplies and people at various times over the last year. My mom at 96 fell, got a small scratch on her head and went from the assisted living to the hospital at 7pm. Had to wait for shift change and back up to clear to get an X-ray and a 5 minute read of negative because the prior shift didn't show up got us back home at 3 AM. about 6 months or so ago, A friend's sister is an X ray tech at the hospital and lost a week of work being sick. ..

So there could be employee issues, turnover, could be supply issues, could be many issues, etc. . . small specialty staff locations can be most volatile with issues. . .

Best to always have options and there is no reason to be loyal to a location if your health is at risk waiting on a diagnostic procedure.

good luck. . .
