Yamaha golf cart parts from The Villages
Ok, here is the situation. A friend's wife died. He asked me to help sell her 2019 Yamaha gas golf cart which was purchased from The Villages. My grandson purchased it. He lives near Daytona Beach, took a rented trailer for him to get it. The clutch went bad. He called The Villages golf cart sales and they said they had the part but would not sell it to him because of parts shortages involving the supply chain issues the country is facing but would install it if he brought in the cart. He advised that he would have to rent a trailer and drive it over. Not acceptable to him. He suggested he pay for the part AND their labor charge (they would not have to install the part) and have me just pick up the part for him. They would not even do that!! Now what king of BS is that? Some parts are very easy to install, a drive belt for instance. This is no way to treat us.

OP, have you tried the internet for the parts, I am sure you can get them at the same price or possibly a better one by going online.
|
Bought a battery from them for my wife’s club car and it turned out to be a bad battery that died and wouldn’t take a charge 6 months later. They wouldn’t honor the warranty on the battery because I installed it myself (about the easiest possible maintenance job). I bought two carts from that place and that’s how they reward customer loyalty? I will never do business with that place again.

Sounds like you must have had issues with the starter generator or a wiring/ground problem. As with all electrical components, once installed by a customer doing his own diagnostics, you own it.

It's amazing how often people in The Villages, defend the indefensible.
& the way many business treat their customers in TV, is indeed, indefensible. |

I needed a new drive belt last year. TV shops didn’t have any. I went to Buggies Unlimited (online) and had an OEM part in a week. |
I needed a voltage regulator, I called all the cart places in the area, nobody had it in stock ( or so they said) I ended up ordering online. It came in a few days.
|
They clearly do not wish to be a parts store. They are allowed to make that decision. Like others said, go online for it. No big deal.
|
I purchased both belts a starter solenoid and accelerator pedal switch from the Villages Golf Cars all OEM Yamaha parts no problems buying parts from them
|
Concur with Buggies Unlimited.

They have this policy on all over-the-counter parts at this time. And yes, with some research you can find OEM Yamaha parts online. They say they are saving the parts they have for people without the tools to repair their own cart, of course they get a great labor rate too. I get that...but if it is a Yamaha golf cart, which they have a lock on selling new ones in this area...they should sell you the parts to repair it.

Parts shortages still? Sounds like a little bull----.
Recently I needed to replace the plastic part where bag is stored. They quoted me $240 for parts and labor. Country VIllage did same job for less than $150. Another reason to not use this biz. |
A little bit off topic but because of issues like the OP had I’ve experienced the same thing myself with The Villages Golf Carts. So to dig a deeper hole we are considering a n Atomic Cart. Parts are the issue that have me on hold now. I don’t buyChinese stuff ever. My wife knows how I feel and asked me to suck it up for her once.
Where can I get parts or other support if the dealer news BROWNWOOD has a problem? I wish the OP well and remember someone on here needing a belt and getting an OEM replacement and finding out it was and idler because it ate the replacement belt very quickly. I wish you luck. My cart is a 2016 white Yamaha, no fuel injection, one year old tires almost 8000 miles and for sale. Momma comes first! Hate to see it go! I’d rather keep the wife. Lol, she’s the greatest. Gotta come up with a fair price.???? |

The Villages Florida, should be the biggest area anywhere for need for parts. After all, every resident owns a cart? Like what other town has over 100,000 carts?

Looks like Amazon might have your parts. |
Just replaced my clutch on 2018. Used partzillia.com to but part. When you order they will tell you how long before it ships. Mine was 2-3 days. Cost was ~300 including shipping. I've used these folks before and give them high marks. Look up the part number from the diagrams for your year and model found on yamahagolfcar.com (bottom of page> parts & accessories under heading resources then navigate from there.)

Why would you pay to replace your clutch when it is warranty covered by Yamaha/The Villages Golf Carts for 5 years?

Around 6-7 years ago, I had my cart in for an oil change / tuneup. I asked for a quote to upgrade my lights to LED on my older cart. The quote I got was so outrageously over-the-top from the smarta-- salesman, I have never been back and will never go back. If you want my money, show some respect. |

The only time I wasn't able to obtain a part (drive belt) was because they were out of stock, I bought the part online. Perhaps they had the belt, and were using them only for customers having them replaced at the shop. I would certainly understand that, as I wanted to do the repair myself. And I totally get that they don't want to be a "parts shop" for DIY'rs |

If your cart needs service, they have a truck and a serviceman in The Villages most every day. If he can't do the repairs at your house, he will take the cart to Webster and return it when it has been fixed. Their prices for servicing a cart are no more than its competitors. If you are buying a new cart, you will save several $1000's over The Villages, and pay, approximately, what you would at Villages Discount for a used/rebuilt cart. |
The Villages Golf Cart business is swamped with business. They can’t handle the overload. Of coarse they can’t, just think of the amount of aging carts in The Villages. So they have made decision to only service their customers until business slackens off. I applaud their decision to do this. Any business should put their customers first. Sorry for your inconvenience, but I for one side with The Villages Golf Cart on this one.

We had a secondary clutch go in Dec. We searched the internet and eventually found a supplier, whose site said they could ship in 3 days. We ordered and then got a message it would be over 3 weeks. We cancelled that order and went to Villages Carts. The part was only slightly more expensive and the labour was for 15 minutes. Done in 3 days from call. The tow cost was very reasonable too. Our experience was good but I can well understand OP’s frustration. But there is a parts supply shortage and Yamaha dealers will get preference. Not able to comment on the point of paying for the part and the labour.

Based on what your saying why not get the part somewhere else.
