We purchased two weeks ago at Home Depot, a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave, LG brand. Very happy with our purchase so far, we bought on Saturday and they were delivered on Thursday. And $800 less then what we were going to buy back in December.

Bought LG French Door fridge, dishwasher, microwave and stove top 11 years ago. All are still working like new.
As far as Samsung Washer and Dryer, JUNK! |
Bosch 8yrs ago and still working great. Can't ever hear it run. Bad part is 1000 bucks or so

They were going to take the old one, but I told them it was already promised to a friend who wanted it for his cabin (it was still working when we bought the new one). That seemed to really upset the Lowe's people, not sure why, since it costs them to dispose of old appliances ! Since they were not going to take it, it was a little tense as they were going to leave it in the middle of the kitchen floor where they put it. After a (not heated) little discussion, they did finally agree to move it to the garage (door from kitchen into garage, so about 8-10 foot move. |

We purchased a Bosch a few years ago from Lowe’s, at the time they had a special of free installation, I think they run that special several times a year. We actually had to pay for installation, as I recall was $150, but you got that back via a rebate. They did remove the old dishwasher for no cost. You won’t regret a Bosch.

Buy whatever brand you like (we like our LG), but don't buy Chinese. There are good S. Korean, Japanese and Euro brands out there....all allies of ours, unlike the Chinese.
|
Not many appliance only stores around.
We are replacing ours applicants, probably buying from Lowes or HD i did go onto LG’s web site, they will tell you what stores appliances are available, there are a few appliance only stores that don’t look sketchy in Leesburg |

Installation issue with Home Depot
We purchased a Bosch from Home Depot with installation. When it was delivered, the installers said they could not install ( we were replacing an existing dishwasher) because there was a cabinet between the dishwasher and the sink. So instead of the $150 installation charge, we had to call a plumber and pay $400. That wasn't the only issue we had with Home Depot. There were also dents in the front panel that they told us to talk to the manufacture to get fixed instead of replacing. The dents were eventually fixed by Bosch but it was more time and frustration since a plumber had to come out twice because the plumber discovered the dents when installing. Also, we purchased a higher end Bosch so that it would be quiet. After installation of the new dishwasher, it made loud sucking noises when it drained. This happens 3-4 times a cycle and can be very startling and loud. We have to make sure to run the dishwasher with both drains covered so we don't hear the noise. Bosch repair person said it was installed correctly and not anything they could do with out more investigation (we would have to pay for person to come out). Needless to say, we have been disappointed with both Home Depot installation fiasco and Bosch not being quiet.

Bought a Maytag at Lowes yesterday. It’s a long drawn out process. Cost to install was $347 which includes additional parts needed. I checked with Mike Scott Plumbing and their fee was $340 but they did not mention extra for any parts that might be needed. Apparently here int TV dishwashers have been installed different by the contractors so Lowes inspects before they install.

Bosch at Lowes, they did it all. The machine is great. We had the top of the line Samsung (waterwall) it was terrible, as was the service to make necessary repairs

Out of all the appliances in your kitchen, dishwashers are the most unique because they don't last forever like your oven, stove or even as long as your refrigerator, generally. Sure you will find someone who says they have their dishwasher for 30 years lol but usually when they start giving you trouble 5-8 years out, most replace them for a newer unit.
The point is none are really silent. They all make some noise to one extent or another. That said look at the DB sound rating and get a good middle of the road dishwasher because you are going to need to replace it at some point. When we were in NY we purchased a high end LG dishwasher for a LOT of money. It was pretty silent. When we got to the Villages i purchased a GE Cafe dishwasher at 1/3 of the price and it was rated a lot quieter than the crazy expensive LG we purchased a few years before. We purchased GE Cafe because my wife wanted their double oven because of the features it had. After that we wanted to match the rest of the appliances. As far as which brand is best, the unfortunate thing is it varies from year to year. Some LG refrigerators had huge compressor problems a couple of years ago. Now they are fine. A lot of people don't like Samsung and GE. GE has several lines of different quality. My suggestion is look at Consumer Reports when you are ready to purchase to get an idea of what's good at the time. As far as where to purchase them. Everyone has a story. Some like Lowes, some like Home Depot, etc... We purchased from Lowes. Yes our double oven came with the glass smashed. A problem in packing at the factory but Lowes took it back immediately, ordered a new one and we had it installed 2 weeks later. Dishwasher came with a tiny dent. Same thing, Lowes ordered a replacement and a couple weeks later came and replaced the dinged unit. Hope this helps. |
I purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher about 8 months ago -- highly recommend. I purchased from Home Depot and they installed the unit. Service was excellent.

Are you looking for a cheap dishwasher or just want know where to buy one? I guess my biggest concern would be who stands behind their product warranty. I’m not big in extended warranties but I did buy a extended warranty when I bought my TV 2 yrs. ago. If I were you I would check at Sam’s Club, Lowes or Home Depot. Just me but I think some models are just junk.

I have a Bosch 800. A couple really important reasons for getting a Bosch. They are very quiet. So much so that at times I don't realize it is on at all. Second reason is that you can put plastics anywhere in the dishwasher. Can be top or bottom trays. They don't dry the same way other dishwashers dry so your plastics are safe anywhere in the dishwasher. I bought mine from Home Depot.

.......But good luck with the quest for finding the right model to purchase. Just wanted to show that there are different viewpoints on different subjects. |
I purchased the top Kitchen Aid dishwasher about a year ago. It is fantastic!! Purchased thru Whirlpool employee program. I ordered on-line on a Tuesday and they delivered and installed the following Monday. I saved over $500 compared to HD and Lowes for the same unit. I can give referrals - PM me if interested.

Dishwasher purchase
We purchased a Bosch series 800 dishwasher from Best Buy. The reason for this particular dishwasher is it's quiet, 42 dBa. The dishwasher is located in the kitchen which is part of the "great room" in our house. As such, it's very nice to be able to run a quiet dishwasher while watching TV or doing anything else. The standard dishwashers that the builder supplies with the houses, even if you get upgraded appliances are basically junk. It's like having a jet in your house. The dishwasher was $1,299.

Great Bosch story
Our last house we had a new Bosch dishwasher installed, it made a funny noise, flooded and ruined our wood floors. We called Bosch and they were quick to blame it on the install. Bosch sent a rep out to test dishwasher and told us you have a “Friday dishwasher” as he found 3 things defective. Bosch replaced our dishwasher and paid for new wood flooring. Loved my Bosch and as soon as my Village dishwasher dies I’ll be getting a Bosch.

I was told that the secret to a quiet dishwasher is to have one with all stainless steel tub. Our last house (NY) and present house (TV) have stainless steel tubs that are extremely quiet. TV house has Bosch DW - you really can't hear it more than 1-2 feet away. I think NY house DW was LG (but not certain).

I bought a Maytag from Best Buy along with other appliances. When you buy more than one appliance, Best Buy gives a reduced price on all of them. When you add their Geek Squad coverage, installation, removal of old appliances, and an additional year of warranty is included on everything you buy for the next year. The delivery and installation was excellent. I've been happy with the dishwasher and is probably the quietest I've ever had. I also really like the top rack for small items and large utensils. The model I got is:
Maytag - Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, Dual Power Filtration, 3rd Rack, 47dBA - Stainless steel Model:MDB8959SKZ SKU:6398239 |

Whatever you consider, do not pick a Samsung. They make good TVs and phones, but horrible appliances.
I wouldn't want another Samsung appliance even if they gave it to me free. |
