Worst case of food "shrinkflation" I have found yet!

We love Voortman chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Up until 2 weeks ago the package was 12.34 ounces with 20 cookies for $3.79. Bought today, same price, same size packaging now it's 7.4 ounces with 12 cookies! I had to toss my cookies after seeing that! (pun intended). I have seen breakfast cereal "shrink" an ounce or 2 in the same size box and other similar "shrinks" but this one took the cake, er, cookie!

My favorite: a certain kind of cooking spray--can't recall the name--had

Opened up a can of Delmonte cooked Beets for a salad. Can was filled to the brim with liquid and 5 slices of beets golf ball size. Usually the can is packed with slices and small amount of liquid. Good thing I have beets growing, soon to be harvested.

On a positive side TJ’s potato chips are the same full bag, as always. So far haven’t noticed any size difference in products I buy there. New lemon scones were very good, but vanilla bean still my fav.

Potato chip bags 1/2 the size of previous bags, same price

We’ve always made our homemade oatmeal raisin/chocolate cookies. Also noticed the same with potato chips and only buy them on sale. It’s frustrating we know just say NO it’s easy.

More shrinking than just cookies !

Have you measured the width of your toilet tissue lately ? A roll "used" to just fit into any standard T.P. holder, rather wood, metal, ceramic, etc. all were a standard width to accommodate a roll. You put in a new roll, it filled the holder, side to side, sometimes even a little difficult to pull off a length from a new roll due to the tight fit. Kept shrinking over the years by just 1/4 of an inch at a time, then by a full 1/2", has gradually been reduced to about 4 inch width by some brands. Nice to be retired, we have time to notice weights, widths, and volumes. Check out a HALF GALLON of ice cream these days, and the newest one I noticed, a "half gallon" of bleach is no longer a "half gallon", the math books really need to be "updated". How many ounces in a pound can of coffee now ? 14 ounces ? 12 ? 10 ?

Jetblue's snacks in flight.

Costco's Kirkland branded coffee still comes in a 3 pound can, unlike most of the national brands.

Maybe it's because people's butts are getting smaller? Just kidding.

And here I thought the TP issue had been thoroughly covered.

That is funny!
Butt's are not getting smaller, but many are getting tighter.

La lamy 03-26-2023 05:50 AM

As a positive, the egg prices seem to have come down to a much more reasonable range.

Milk has come down as well.

joelfmi 03-26-2023 07:49 AM

If you boycott these insane product increases and shrinkages, they will be forced to rethink what they are doing

joelfmi 03-26-2023 07:52 AM

airstreamingypsy 03-26-2023 08:01 AM

Toilet paper is shrinking because more and more people are tightarses or anal retentive. They don’t need the wider paper.

Skunky1 03-26-2023 08:22 AM

If we keep buying it they’ll keep selling it

That's not shrinkflation, the size of. each cooking is the same ...0.6 oz, that is simply severe gouging.

Tdroels 03-26-2023 03:13 PM

Individual size potato chips state .25oz. This is equal to 5 potato chips. That cost is crazy.

Sounds like you got the sugar-free variety by mistake. The regular cookies are 12.4 ounces, and the sugar-free are 8 ounces. You can get both at Publix, they're right next to each other.

For juuuust about $6 you can make your own chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, and you'll get approximately 60 cookies of the same size as the Voortman 20-pack. Even better, you can make a few rolls of cookie dough and freeze them in waxed paper - and then slice off however many cookies you want, and bake them in your toaster oven. Fresh hot oatmeal cookies any time you like, for less than the cost of over-processed wastefully packaged mediocre tasting store-bought cookies.
