Sumter County police arrested a Villager last week on charges of transmitting child pornography. Police took Gary Paul Slesinski, 69, into custody after detectives served a search warrant of his home in the Village of Sanibel. Detectives assigned to Child Exploitation Investigations and who are members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Federal Task Force began

Effects on family…..
 

This will have an effect on the life’s of his children and grandchildren. Will his family trust him to be near his own grandchildren? Did his wife suspect something was wrong with him? Hopefully the family will not leave the grandchildren to alone with him even if his wife is around.
They will never be able to put out of their minds how this pervert is a danger to children. Prayers for the family, hope they get counseling.

Msybe The Villages should require both a criminal and character screening before selling new residents a house.

Reality... background checks will never happen. T V security ends where the red buttons are as all streets are public. Security lift gates in T V are a facade.

It is however, great that the T V has Community Watch and gate keepers that can be called to assist as watchfull eyes. I do love that they will do daily wellness checks as well.

So I see one has DOB as 1983 so I guess T V has granted a waiver for this under 55 age person to be (a State of FL Sex Offender) a registered resident residing in T V (?)

I worked with a guy at the post office in Mpls Mn. He was a super nice guy and even helped me move not once but twice. Always nice to my two daughters. I sold him my fishing boat so he could take his new wife and grandkids fishing. One day I was in the post office breakroom and everyone was talking about the truck driver that got caught viewing child porn in the cab of his truck! They then went to his house and found a ton of child porn,and they even found out that thru investagations that he had molested several family members. Made me sick to my stomach because we were close! He called me from St Cloud prison but i declined the call. He got 50yrs no parole and he was only 2 months from retiring at the time. Karma has it's way of getting you in the end!

Sex offenders have a unique experience in prison.

Sumter County sheriff’s site has a more complete list of registered sex offenders. It has the offenders close to but not in TV and from what I can see TV site missed a few villagers South of the turnpike.

On 11/22/2021 Earl Knight on St Andrews was convicted of child porn (he had videos of the teenage granddaughters). He got a 5 year sentence (reduced to 40 months) of probation. His wife posted his bail. I am very disappointed by my friends that still hang out with this guy, they play golf, go to lunch/dinner and even hang out at Spanish Springs to listen to the music at night.

You can be proud of your morals.

In the final analysis, "innocent until proven guilty" is a jury instruction. All verbiage around that concept, be it in the Constitution or State/Federal statutes, is simply placing upon the government the burden of proving guilt. The police do not arrest people they "presume" are innocent. Prosecutors do not bring charges against people they "presume" are innocent. But, in our justice system, which is the best there is, it remains the responsibility of the State to make the case.

When it comes to child pornography investigations, police and prosecutors have an awesome array of tools at their disposal that allows them to make their cases virtually iron clad. Yes...the State still has to prove their case, but most defendants in these types of investigations plead guilty, once confronted with the mountain of evidence. For this particular guy, life as he knew it is over.

A snowbird who owns a home in The Villages has been arrested on a warrant charging him with lewd and lascivious molestation.

Michael Robert Turney, 71, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a Hillsborough County warrant charging him with lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim 12 years of age or younger. He was taken into custody at his home on Bernard Lane in the Village of Ashland.

He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Turney splits his time between The Villages and Summit Lake, Wis. He has a Wisconsin driver’s license.

He and his wife purchased their home in The Villages in 2019.
