Door to door soliciting
1 Attachment(s)
Hardly a day goes by, someone doesn't show up at my door, selling tree trimming, lawn care, or something. Today is was a new roof.
Does any one here know the truth? The information out there seems contradictory. https://districtgov.org/departments/...-watch-FAQ.pdf https://www.**************.com/2021/...-the-villages/ |

If hardly a day goes by without someone knocking at the door then contact Community Standards per the FAQ and see what they have to say. Florida Statute 501.022 says home solicitation requires a permit. This implies to me that door-to-door solicitation is legal as long as the person has the permit. They should show you their permit automatically but you can also ask to see it. |

After much effort, I have made the list of you do not want to knock on that door.
Wife is polite. Our mail. All the free college, funeral etc are addressed to her. |
Post a no soliciting sign at your door. This makes it wrong for them to knock on your door.

I believe in 2022 a law was passed BANNING roofing outfits from ALL door to door solicitating.

All because of the roof replacement fraud of the last few years.

Does anyone who actually has a 'No Soliciting' sign up know if they work to prevent door bell ringers?

door to door soliciting
Remember, "if it feels wrong/bad, it usually is."
If you feel something or someone on your property is not genuine or appropriate, Close and lock the door and any other exterior doors, including the garage doors. Then, immediately report the suspicious person to the Sheriff's Department and then Community Watch. This quick action will bring about a marked unit sooner than later. Try and make note of age, clothing, height, hair color, sex and race. Also, direction of travel when you last saw them. If they left in a vehicle, try and remember make, model and color (2 door/4/door/ truck etc..) and if possible, a license plate number. Do not place yourself in danger at any time to obtain the info! Recording doorbell cameras are a huge help as well. If not your camera, possibly a neighbor's. |
Use a doorbell cam. Send video to authorities

It worked for me 50 years ago when I was pestered by missionaries that kept showing up on my doorstep |
knockers: Hi! I'm Jim and this is my wife Tammy Fae. Mind if we come in and pray?
me: Hi! No thank you. /closes door 30 seconds wasted. |

Just statistics - not a complaint - one poster has posted an average 8.24 for 17 years. Another poster has posted an average of over 9 times a day for years. How does one skip/ignore/suppress posts from certain posters which tend to be of little value or do I just skip quickly past them? |
