Antenna booster for TV
 

Has anyone tried the $15 to $30 antenna boosters to pick up Orlando and other local stations? Have a tv but don’t want to get another fire stick for the spare bedroom.

We use one from Amazon that costs about $45 and get several stations from Orlando including the 4 major networks. Channel 9, ABC, gets spotty reception but the other three networks (Channels 2, 6, and 35) come in great. Lightning has fried the booster twice in 7 plus years but it’s easy to replace. We live north of 466, so if you are in the newer southern area you should have no problem getting good reception.

You’ll have to spend a lot more than the $30 for a firestick to buy and install an antenna that’ll reach Orlando for local channels. I spent about $100 for an antenna, $40 for a amplifier and labor to install.

Boosters are trash. Just raise your antenna height or can a higher gain antenna. Longer yagi. Or aim it better in an attic or wherever.

I am 45 miles from all the transmitting towers and do fine with no booster at all. Just don't expect to feed 5 or 6 coax lines in your attic. Use one splitter in attic and limit yourself to feeding two sets.

You don't mention what you currently have for an antenna, or where it is located. To get anything at all I'm guessing outside or at least in your attic?

I installed a large 8 foot directional UHF antenna (yagi) in my garage attic and added a Wingard booster at the point that the coax cable comes out of the attic and into the garage, then fed the coax that runs to my TV. When I scan I consistently get 60+ channels but between duplicates and things you don't want to watch, about 30 useful channels. Did it myself and spent about $120, all from Amazon.

I’ve got a Lava 8008 mounted on my roof in Fenney. When I scanned yesterday, I received 94 channels. The installer connected it to all the cable outlets so we can watch on three different TVs. There are a lot of religious and Spanish channels that we don’t watch, but we get all the major broadcast networks. No complaints here.

Has any one used a Antenna's Direct Clearstream 4max antenna? if so with or without a preamp? I'm located just north of Rohan Rec Center. Any one in the area that use something else? If so pluses or minus of your experiences using the antenna

You can delete those channels you don't want on on TV channel list so when you surf they will not show up

Being a soccer fan, I like getting the Spanish stations. They show alot of games for free that otherwise you would have to pay for on Fox Sports, ESPN, etc.

Yes, narration is in Spanish. But don't really need it. And when they say "Goooooaaaalllll!" the entertainment value is off the charts.

I have a small antenna in the garage (Best Buy) attic. I get over 60 channels with it. I use a small amp at the TV end. I ran a coax cable from the antenna down the conduit that contains the irrigation system's wire lead from the gutter into the irrigation box. I then have a splitter in the irrigation box that can feed as many outlets as I like. You will probably need an amp at the splitter or on each TV to ensure signal strength. Cost for antenna about $50 and each amp is about $20. I had the 50 feet of coax but it can get expensive to buy...measure the length you need carefully. Too much cable length means impedence problems that reduce the signal strength to each TV. Xfinity is currently charging $10/box/month...that adds up!

Simply raise the height of your outdoor antenna and you will get it all. Not costly at all

I tried two antennas taped to windows, in multiple locations. It was a complete waste of money, given that I didn’t want to watch local channels in Spanish. (I do enjoy series in Spanish on Netflix.) I ended up throwing away the antennas and wiring. I have XFinity wifi and online access but no TV plan from them. I pay for Netflix and YouTube (not the streaming service—just $16 a month to get it without ads), and Amazon Prime comes with the free shipping from Amazon. That’s it. I hate TV news of all sorts and don’t watch sports.

I had three new Smart TVs, all made by LG, the most reliable brand, according to Consumer Reports. XFinity connected one coaxial cable to its wifi modem, and all my televisions picked up the signals by wifi, without a direct connection to the modem. With an antenna taped to a window, you supply a signal to only one tv unless you have a splitter and multiple cables running to the other televisions.

I believe you have to get the antenna outside the house to be effective. I tried it in a window with no luck, and I’m not drilling holes. Maybe someone else had a better experience.

If you have an app tv, look for Local Now or other news app in the tv’s App Store

I used a antenna for a yr. when we lived in TV. I pointed my antenna at Orlando also it was in our attic because at the time TV said antenna weren’t allowed on roof tops. I used a booster also & got 44 channels, but there were 11 Spanish speaking channels. The nice thing was it was FREE. If you pay for TV antenna service it goes up every yr. When we first got it, it was less than $50. in 7 yrs. it got to $169. That’s when it broke the camel’s back, we quit all of the Antenna services! If you don’t mind what channels you get that’s great.

I live in Stonecrest (elevation = 110ft). I bought a $10.00 amplified (34dB total amplification) omnidirectional antenna from ebay and mounted it under an outdoor rain gutter and ran the small wire through a window sill. The antenna and installation is tiny (6" vertical) and nearly invisible. I get ABC,CBS,NBC,CW,FOX and more. Transmitters are in Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, and other places with lower transmitter power. Reception is better at night - night time reception is perfect (1080 HD) for all major networks.

Yea TV service is outrages. I have basic steaming like about 10 channels its $30 for the TV service then they have to charge a broadcast fee of about $26 I think its up to for local tv station so $56 just for local tv. then plus the internet

Tried one and couldn't get anything. Also, Fire Sticks are the last streaming device I would ever get. Everything branded by Amazon is first and foremost an advertising & data collection device. Roku devices work great & have the simplest interface.

Best Buy has a TV antenna on sale for $9.49. You probably won't get any channels, but you will save money.
