Quartz Countertops Dirty

We have noticed over a period of time the countertops on our island where we read the paper in the morning has started to discolored. I’m thinking it is from the ink in the newspaper. Is there a way to safely clean this white countertop? Thanks

dewilson58 04-20-2023 01:42 PM

Weiman Products is a trusted name.

There are also kits that can cost over $100 for major issues.

Google is your friend.

Many newspapers have gone to organic inks, so I would look into cleaners for this type of material and the type of counter top that you have.

What are your countertops made of? Quartz? Granite? Something else? Do you know the manufacturer or installer? If so, call them.

What does Google is your friend mean?
(Internet slang) A suggestion that the addressee could learn something using an Internet search engine, rather than asking others.

i.e. Someone is not smart enough to provide a thoughtful answer to OP's question.

Feel better??..............hope your happiness improves.

as defined, it's someone who gave the OP a suggestion..........nothing to do with smart enough.

I clean hard to remove spots on my white quartz with a nylon scrubby and dawn soap. I also use an extra large dish drying mat to lay my newspaper on to eliminate ink transfer. When done I fold the cloth mat and put it away until next time....and it washes easily. Hope this helps.

When you have the compelling need to comment on every thread ever posted, displaying intelligence (or the lack of), isn't a primary concern.

Try to clean with warm water and vinegar. A 50/50 blend

The heading of OP's thread says quartz counters.

La lamy 04-21-2023 05:30 AM

If it is ink, google suggests rubbing alcohol on a cloth, or magic eraser. Whatever you experiment with, I'd start on a small area to test it out. Good luck.

But that would mean one should not only read the thread topic, and :girlneener:all of the posts

Mild soap and water should clean it up.

IndianaJones 04-21-2023 06:54 AM

Barkeeper’s friend for quartz - the liquid form is easy to use, with a scrubbing sponge. In the cleaning products aisle at your local grocery, near the Comet cleanser.

airstreamingypsy 04-21-2023 07:12 AM

Read the online news source once it's clean, much more entertaining.

Mazjaz 04-21-2023 07:52 AM

Magic erasers work on just about any surface we use them on especially counter tops.

Manufacturer of Cambria Quartz indicates the following: Do NOT use bleach, oven cleaner, Comet, Soft Scrub, SOS products with pumice, paint removers, furniture strippers, tarnich or silver cleaner. Do Not use abrasive or harsh scrub pads. You can contact Cambria by calling 1-866-Cambria or visiting website at CambriaUSA.com.

Try Bar Keepers which is sold in most grocery stores

Barborv 04-21-2023 09:08 AM

I just had Cambria installed and was told not to use anything with ammonia.

Countertop

Thieves is a product from young living( essential oils) that works great on stone granite quartz and very safe. On occasion if there is a stubborn stain use windex, but don’t make a habit of it.

If the dirt is organic, laundry detergent often works well.

Deden 04-21-2023 01:23 PM

Try Bonami, it's a scratch free cleanser. I use it on everything. Buy any store that sells cleansers.
