O M G ! I feel like a relic! Like I should be speaking Sumarian. Thanks for my current bout of depression. Time to get out the scotch that is legal in all 50 states.

VApeople 04-28-2023 06:31 PM

I believe it was Voltaire who said, "I never knew a wise man who wished he was younger."

You're welcome!

I just now edited my post and put in the YouTube link that includes the comments. I've watched the video twice so far and will probably watch again. There is just so much to take in.

Awesome, I don't want to go forward to 2023  :coolsmiley:

Trouble is, I remember them all.

kendi 04-29-2023 06:14 AM

Great picture. Before my time but I know most of them. Nice to remember the good old days and the people who have touched our lives. Even better to appreciate today which will one day be a part of the good old days. Life is ever changing.

GaryKoca 04-29-2023 06:26 AM

Three of them are still alive. Boone, Anka, and Avalon.

Add a corollary to that: "Youth is the most precious thing in life; it is too bad it has to be wasted on young folks" (George Bernard Shaw).

That was great, thanks! The person that put that together obviously shares my admiration of the great Gene Kelly.

Staying young at heart is a good reason to come to the next Club 'E' dance this Wednesday, May 3, 6:30-9 pm at Eisenhower. ('E' is for Eisenhower). Current pop and other music videos (but not rap) for freestyle or partner dancing or socializing. Couples and singles - singles tables for those who prefer that. Nightclub atmosphere. Each month first Wednesday same time and place. And I do the music. Something different. Hope you'll come see!

Agree. I'm a big fan of the old musicals when the talents were triple threats.

I hate to say it, but it MUST be said, where I came from Pat Boone and Paul Anka were considered boring lightweights that appealed to lonely girls from the Midwest. The people that I hung out with tended to favor Bo Diddley (a gunslinger), Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Jerry Lee Lewis. I guess, this is a "different strokes for different folks" example.

Then 99% of the world must NOT be very wise! Mr. Voltee Guy.

Same. Little Richard was my favorite. He always looked like he was at the tipping point of insanity or he was wired (electrically) and scared that someone was going to zap him any second ... then he would scream like he was being electrocuted. Good GollY Miss Molly, what a performer.!

Oh yeah? Well, I'm so old my wife has to feed me the juice of 9 Tanna leaves before I can get out of bed.

Next?

Time, unlike most things that surround us, can’t be touched but it can be felt, can be measured but can’t be contained. As we pass through time, and time passes through us, it gives us experience and leaves us with memories.

The famous Dr Seuss once said, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.”

In the local NY schools Dr Seuss has been removed. No more Seuss day.

I tend to be recalling people who influenced me in my younger years. It is driving home where I end up a bit confused at times. I reach out to thank my 1st grade teacher, the priest who taught me to box, etc.. Of course it is too late.
