Tip of the day for drivers in The Villages
Here is your tip of the day;
Do NOT trust a turn signal on a golf cart! If you are at stop sign, at an intersection, or maybe pulling out of a Rec center or driveway and a golf cart is approaching and has its turn signal on do NOT pull out in front of it until you are certain, you are sure, you 100% know they are turning! Villagers and visitors forget they have their turn signal on!!! Often! A lot!!! And if you pull out in front of a golf cart that has its turn signal on but is not turning something bad is going to happen!! Make sure they are turning before you pull out! Your insurance company and the people in the golf cart will thank you!! You are welcome…now carry on!! |
Flair for the obvious award.

I've learned whether it was golf cart or car. Don't trust the turn signals or the fact they won't stop at a stop sign and turn!
|
I swear most of those turn signals where on since last week.
|
a/k/a...........drive defensively.
:crap2: |
I learned that on my first golf cart ride.

Drivers training day 2 class. “ Never trust any vehicles turn signals, just because it’s blinking doesn’t mean a true turn” Mr Ahern, geometry, and Drivers Training Instructor.

Same goes for car drivers. Some $&@t had their left turn signal on in the right lane in a roundabout. I was in the inside lane wanting to continue on Morse (2nd exit which is legal) while the clown in the right lane wanted to take the 3rd exit and almost hit me. They probably thought that since they had their turn signal on it was ok to disobey the law and almost hit somebody. Only in the villages!

What about a hand signal, can we trust that?

#1....When crossing at a intersection with another vehicle waiting to cross, always watch the front wheels, they move, you stop. #2...And NEVER awesome the other driver sees you even when their looking straight at you. |

What about a physical change to force that? Put a barricade in the right lane at every place a side road connects. The rule becomes the right lane must exit. To go around past that barricade cars need to be in the left lane. Makes it a one lane type of road, but everyone would be forced to follow that concept. That would stop the right lane people from going in circles. |

We have been here for seven years. We know the rules for driving thru a roundabout, and I always have my hand on the horn to give a long honk when I encounter a person breaking the rules. That having been said, we drive slowly and very carefully in a roundabout. If we are having a conversation, we always stop before entering the roundabout so we can watch the other drivers, and we expect the unexpected, like a person entering a roundabout in the inside lane and cutting across the outside lane to go into the first exit. |
I know it may be hard to believe, but looking at the signs before every roundabout explaining the traffic pattern through it really does help!

........I fail to see ANY advantages to a 2 lane roundabout system? |
The only turn signals I trust are the ones I see happening a few yards ahead of their turn, but even then, it’s possible they may have turned it on by mistake!!! D’OH!
|
The only driver I trust is me! Everyone else is either a complete idiot or an assassin. I highly recommend you adopt that same belief.

How did a thread about reminding people to not trust a golf cart with a turn signal on turn into a discussion about driving in a round-about? 🤷*♂️ Carry on.
|
I wish there was a polite hand signal to let cart drivers know their turn signal is on.

I have driven all over UK and Europe for 60 years, and have yet to see a two lane highway go to one lane at a roundabout. I have seen three, four, five lane roundabouts, multi direction roundabouts, roundabouts within roundabouts, and negotiated the infamous Arc de Triomphe roundabout many times. Roundabouts seem to work everywhere with minimal fuss, except in The Villages. |
