Good luck. I enjoyed owning a RHD 1954 Bentley Mark VI during the early 1970s and a LHD 1955 Jaguar XK 140 in the early 1960s while an undergrad but Porsche and BMW are my current vehicles.

Rolls Royce were never the same once they removed the side running boards.
We had nowhere to tie the dead sheep, or hay bales on our farm, and went over to pick ups instead.:icon_wink:

WOW…OP is looking to start a club, posters seem upset that one would have a fine machine, want to get together, and enjoy experiences.

If you don’t have one why are you so upset, someone else does. I smile when I see the “RR” at neighborhood Walmart. Stop to take in its lines and craftsmanship.

In our past there was a RR and a B, in the family. My great uncle loved those cars, better than the 6 dealerships he owned. It was time of respect for a machine well made.

The time put into keeping it in top shape, and the time we kids piled in after riding, mud and all. (That story has been repeated at every family gathering for more years than I can count).

OP you might be better putting a notice of starting your club in the Rec center paper.

I didn't see the replies as being envy, I thought they were just good fun in reply to a tongue in cheek post.

However, I have seen a RR which is chiefer driven, sort of driving Miss Daisy, and I believe there is a Bentley.

Yes. It’s sad that people can’t just stick to the topic without starting up the clown show. I didn’t see the deleted posts, but I can imagine. The OP just happens to be one of my neighbors. He likes Rolls and is interested in starting a car club. But as usual people try to be cute. This site surely ain’t what it used to be when people tried to be helpful before they derailed a thread.

Usually our resident Brit Two Bills takes the prize with me, but this time, I dare say village dreamer’s allusion to that classic ad for mustard can’t be topped.

Those who drive attention-getting cars expect comments and might even appreciate the good-natured humor as intended.

I love seeing a head-turning car. The closest I ever got to owning one was in the 70s with my second-hand Triumph GT6. I sure looked good driving that car. (Well…..looking back, I guess I looked good no matter where I was in the 70s (sigh)) …..

I loved that car…….even though somebody said I better get ready to put out for a Leyland Motors mechanic. I just smiled at that one. Did not take offense.

Those were the days when sports car drivers waved to each other on the road. There was a hierarchy involved though…..The driver of the less expensive car had to wave first. I had to wave first to a lot of Porsches and Jags……..But I digress — so, anyway…..

I still look at beautiful and classic cars, although now I drive around in an ordinary Accord.

I hope our OP finds his fellow enthusiasts in TV.

Orlando RR/B Club
 

You probably already know but there is a RR/B Club in Orlando. I had to join a Jaguar club in Orlando since there wasn't one here. We had a joint drive trip one day that was fun.

There is also a Villages Classic Automobile Club that has some very fine autos and would welcome you.

Not rude, not green with envy (although I would love a Royce) and, okay, not particularly funny but hardly worthy of being taken down or accused of being nasty.

Good luck to anyone wanting to start a new club - variety is what makes TV so great.

Always admire RR and Bentley’s but never owned one. Good luck with your club - would definitely love to come to your show. We had a MB two seater HD Conv until it got too difficult to “fall in and out of”. Mercedes great vehicle though. We do love our Subaru!

It's fantastic that there is a club for them here in TV. Kinda makes the whole place just a bit more bougie too.

It would be interesting to know how many Rollers/Bentleys there are in TV.

I've only seen one - a regular at the Spanish Springs monthly cruise-in - and it exudes class.

Neighborhood Walmart has a Bent, parked there couple times a month. There was a convertible Bent in Brownwood Saturday, not the same.

Then there is the RR that a driver drops off this lovely older lady at the front door, then parks in the back forty. Then pulls up and escorts her into car and loads the groceries.

She is quite feisty, and tells the cashier, my man is waiting in the car, not waiting in RR, just the car. She stops in couple times a month. Ya got to love it.

Anyone who owns a RR or Bentley and doesn't have a Driver, is suspect.

Yes, I agree, that's the way I took it. Actually thought the whole post might be a joke of sorts, I could see it in an actual private "gated" community, like those we all know near Orlando where the sports stays and entertainers live, but it did seem a bit humorous to post something (if it is serious) in a pretend "country club private community", where retired mechanics, firemen and women, retired military, teachers, welders, nurses and insurance agents live on SS and pensions ? Just seemed a "bridge too far" if a legitimate post... LOL ! But, you never know, and really doubt, especially at this age, there would be very many people who actually bother with such a useless emotion as "envy" ....lol...think most of us left that back in high school before we ever went on to college ! But, maybe not ! One thing for sure, it certainly makes this TOTV's an interesting site to peruse with the morning coffee :laugh::laugh::laugh:
