Need oil change

Where does one get a fast and fair price oil change here in The Villages
Thank you for your help.

Update: Thank you for all your help. Went to 5 Minute Oil Change in Lady Lake. They did just like you said they would. They did try to upsell but that's part of the service. Oil change sure not cheap by any means but it is what it is.
Thank you again for all your help.

I don't think there is any such thing as a fair price oil change anymore but we take our cars to Sumter Tire in Wildwood, they have 2 locations there, never had a problem with them over the 6 years we have been using them and they do all kinds of other repairs if you ever have the need.

Car, Cart, Motorcycle, Lawnmower???

Babubhat 06-29-2023 10:14 AM

Wildwood or Sumter tire. Dozens of recommendations on this site

Pick a place to call for an appointment. The closest quick changes Mobile1 or Valvoline aren't in the area only Inverness and Beleview.

Take 5 on 441

I was shocked at the great service I got at the "Take 5" oil change place north of the Walmart on west side of 441.

I pulled right in, with no appointment, rolled down my window, and a guy handed me a cold bottle of water and there was a fan blowing in the window while he took my info, and then they changed my oil, all while I sat in the car. Afterwards, they topped off all the fluids and checked the filters. When they were done, they had a guy calling off items on a check list, to make sure everything was secure before they closed the hood. They were very professional and serious about doing a great job. I didn't think to time it, but I doubt I was there 10 minutes.

It was about $50 for the "economy" oil change, which is outrageous, but still less than most places, and about the same as my last WalMart oil change (where they made me wait 45 minutes, and then broke the hood release handle for the 2nd time).

My experiences have shown to me that there isn't enough difference in price between businesses to make a difference. Only difference was in the time needed to complete the oil change. The quick lube places are usually the most convenient and fastest. No appointments, just drive in, wait in the car for a few minutes and go. Now you will have to contend with some of them trying to sell you new air filters and cabin filters but ask to see the old filter so you can determine if it needs replacing.

If using one of those fast oil change businesses, don't let them adjust the air in your tires.
The air in tires need to be adjusted/check cold, and your tires are hot.

Do they drain the oil or pump it out?

Pinball wizard 06-30-2023 01:58 PM

Goodyear is having a $20, $40, $50 sale on oil changes. Good, better, best.

I normally have an oil change done at the dealer but used Take 5 last time. Was very impressed, and it showed up in my Carfax report.

What does Take 5 charge for a full synthetic oil change?

Drain

bowlingal 07-01-2023 05:31 AM

wherever you go, do not go to a dealership. I use sumter tire.

ithos 07-01-2023 06:04 AM

They do my oil changes and I have been impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the employees. Also they have a 25% veteran and military discount. Rules say that you need military ID but a drivers license with a Veterans designation may do.

I take my car to the Chevy dealer on SR44. $20 cheaper than Sumter Tire. Last oil change at Sumter was greater than $90.

They drain. I asked him about it. He said they replace the washer every time and are very careful to hand-tighten so they don't strip the plug. I heard the guy under the car call it out after he'd replaced the plug, if you can believe it!

Apparently, they're not happy with the machines currently available to pump, but he said the company has come up with something that will effectively remove all the sludge. He said they'll probably be pumping by next year.

I suggest you go to Firestone on 466 near Walmart.

Gpsma 07-02-2023 02:48 PM

I broughtmy car to sumter tire for an oil change. Last time they left the drain plug loose…oil dripped in my garage.

Bunch of amateurs

dewilson58 07-02-2023 04:06 PM

Sally B never came back..................I don't think she/he cared.

What place gives a veteran a 25% discount?

Yes they do
take five military discounts - Google Search

Looking at the discount on their web-site. It is for active military and retired military. I served four years so it doesn't apply to me.
