Where to buy a front overhead storage shelf for Yamaha

Where can I buy a front overhead storage shelf for a Yamaha golf cart? Can't seem to find one on the internet. Haven't checked with the cart stores yet.

I purchased a rear overhead storage shelf for my Yamaha from Ebay. I like it in the back and it has a lot of capacity.

Like you, I have been looking for some time for one. No luck from my side. I bought my Yamaha with the rear overhead storage, and I'm just tall enough to bump it if sit up straight.

Not sure why, but no aftermarket company appears to make one. That limits the choice to only the Yamaha product, which needs to be purchased through an authorized dealer. One would think an aftermarket part would be available given both the simplicity of the product and the sheer volume of carts in existence?

I bought mine from The Villages Golf Cars in Spanish Springs and installed it myself. I am not really happy with it, as every time the cart bounces at all (like when you hit a bump in the road), the shelf acts like a trampoline, and bounces whatever is up there, sometime right in your lap.

I have found that a towel in the tray will limit some of the items from bouncing out. I am considering an additional brace on ours.

Good advice, I keep everything up there wrapped in a small towel, no bouncing or rattling. The towel comes in handy when golfing in wet or very humid weather as well.

I got mine installed when I bought my cart from Villages Discount Golf Cart store near the corner of 42 and 441. I don't know if they would sell one as a part, but you might check with them too. They have 2 stores, but the one on 441 does all their work and I assume has their parts inventory.

There was a gentlemen in Hacienda at Mission that provided and installed them. I had a couple of carts done by him. He also installs lights-advertises on here in the classified's now and again, although I haven't seen him do so in a while. He did my last cart in November of last year and does a great job. His email address is rvnpout@gmail.com.

Has anyone added a front or rear storage tray on their cart to have two storage trays total? Thinking I can store more stuff and it would take longer for would-be thieves to steal my stuff.

Have one in both the front and back. Keep permanent golf cart stuff in the back like suntan lotion, binoculars and map of the Villages and use the one in the front for miscellaneous stuff depending on the day’s activities. Have never had anything stolen from the golf cart including the Bluetooth speaker mounted to a water bottle holder on the rear roof support. Correction, have had a sandwich, bag of nuts, etc… stolen from the cart while golfing by both birds and those aggressive Sherman’s fox squirrels.

Noisy

We have a front overhead storage tray from the Villages and it sure is noisy. Any recommendations on how to "quiet" it up?

Two suggestions, first try a towel or similar in the tray, if that does not work, I have been looking at installing an additional brace from the tray to the roof to reduce movement.

I ordered this on Monday for a Drive 2 and it came on Friday, shipped from Elgin,IL. It's pretty study with nice metal brackets on the end. Had to move the top of the sunbrella covers to get at the roof/support pole bolts. Put some sheet metal screw in the front of the shelf for added support. The only thing I didn't like was that the metal brackets are attached to the shelf with pop rivets.

A simple "L" piece of aluminum about 4 inches long with a screw in the roof and one in the tray. I used stainless steel machine screw, and drilled the hole too SMALL so the screw made a set of threads in the roof, and I added some GOOP to make this completely water tight and rust proof. The hole in the aluminum was large enough for the piece to slide over the threads, and then a wing nut to tighten. I used a similar SS screw and a nut on the tray area with both holes large enough for the screw to pass through.
