Best wings, IMO, since I’ve moved to the area are the salt-and-pepper wings at Yummy Chinese in Ocala - I get a takeout order every time I’m up in Ocala. A bit spicy, but I like ‘em that way.

Cody's in Lake Sumter has very good wings. Publix are really good too, but they are very salty.

Lopez pool bar has good wings. We go on Saturday when it’s 1/2 price wings day.

Mickeymo 07-18-2023 06:15 AM

Ramshackle in Leesburg has big wings

Nobody ever thinks of trying wings at a Mexican restaurant, but... Ay Jalisco in Spanish Springs has by far the best wings I've had anywhere in Florida. They have a sauce they make called Raspberry Chipotle, and it is just amazing. Wings are big and crispy on the outside, and chicken is moist and tender on the inside. Went there for years without every trying them - then got them about two years ago. Now, don't like to get them anywhere else.

Large Tasty Wings

The wings at Legends Bar and Grill in Fruitland Park
are the best in the area.
Always meaty. Tuesday night is all you eat wing night. Starts at 5 pm.

Buy wings at Aldi’s.. they are large. Put some seasoning on them and put them in a good quality air fryer for 24 mins. Best wings you will ever eat! If you like them hot just brush on your favorite wing sauce after they are done. :beer3:

Non-Recommendation

I have a non-recommendation. It's Just Wings sent me so-called "boneless wings". They were huge pieces of white meat, the size of almost half a chicken breast in some case. I am 100 percent sure the meat was not wing meat. It was basically an order of fried chicken, and very greasy fried chicken at that. I did not finish and it is almost unheard of for me to fail to "clean my plate" after an expensive meal ( I find wings relatively expensive for what you get). I'd order fried chicken if I wanted it, but I wanted wings. The taste experience is different. . The crust to meat ratio is different with fried chicken. "Wings" can be too big.

dewilson58 07-18-2023 07:52 AM

Thanks for the recommendations.....................I see wings in my future.

Which one? Never had a bad meal at the one in Mulberry. Went there last night actually.

Best Wings!!

Being from Central New York, where wings are king (yes, I know the sauce is from Buffalo) I was very pleased with the wings at Havana Country Club!! They were big, well sauced and had a good amount of heat. Take a seat at the bar, order a cold beer and enjoy some wings!!!

Best Chinese food around. Yummy! (Pun was intended)

pauld315 07-21-2023 09:47 AM

In Ocala you need to try Charlie Horse for wings. On Thursdays after 5 they sell 20 wings for 15 dollars and they have free trivia at 630 that same night.. If you want large frozen wings delivered to you house go to wildfork dot com. They have them right now for under 13 dollars for a 5 pound bag.

Every time I've gotten them they were always big and juicy compared to the other restaurants in the villages which were scrawny and dry.

retiredguy123 07-25-2023 11:27 AM

When you order wings, are you supposed to get just wings, or wings and legs? I ordered wings at Belle Glade recently and I got half wings and half legs. I felt cheated.

??? A chicken wing has three parts: the tip that you rarely see, the "finger" (my wife's preference) that has two bones, and the "drummy" (my preference) that looks like a mini leg. I expect to get an equal number of fingers and drummies since that's the way they come off the chicken.

Did you get legs/drumsticks, which would be odd, or the drummies? I've been to places where the drummies were as large as small legs/drumsticks - I kinda wanted to see the chicken that grew those.

I don't know what a mini leg or drummy is. I assumed that what I got was the chicken's leg because they were pretty big and not as tasty as the "wings". What I wanted was all wings as advertised. When I buy a roasted chicken at Publix, I cut off the drumsticks and eat them. I also eat the breast. The wings are so small that I just throw them away.

Ask for "flats". Those are the wings with two bones in them...

The Sunny Pint, right beside the Brownwood Hotel. They do BBQ'd ones during Sunday football.

Nothing in Cody's is worth eating!! Just my opinion!!

I started to respond to this with an explanation, but then decided if you think you got half wings and half legs and have lived to be retired, then you must know, or are baiting us for entertainment.
