How good is that.
Any kid that doesn't grasp the opportunity offered by that setup, is dumb.
All my old teachers had was a blackboard, chalk, some dog eared books, and as an aid, a cane to beat us with!

That’s a great school! I also like that daughter (grand, great grand) she’s really natural and feels like she’s just talking. Not reading lines.

We visited yesterday when they had student orientation. The video does not do it justice. The place is amazing. The football, basketball, softball, baseball stadiums are awesome. Next the the state HS football championship with be played there. And the middle school and early learning center is just as amazing. Across from the HS will be the new town square. Can't wait to see that.

A quick look at the theater makes me think that it will quickly become " The Sharon" for Southern Villagers. Hopefully we will be able to support two venues of this size with the same quality/variety of performances as presently exists in Spanish Springs.

I'm blown away. Please explain eligibility. I understand a parent/guardian must be employed by a business in The Villages for their kid to qualify, but what about tuition? Wow. I might get a job in TV and adopt a kid just so I can be a part of this experience. ������

In a sense, I'm a little proud that everyone who purchased a home here helped pay for it.

I’m with you. The schools I went to were never that nice.

This in an amazing facility. (Perhaps more buffalo than roamed on the range.) I love how students are being prepared for the hospitality profession by teaching them to wait tables and for construction management without referring to, say, carpentry or plumbing. Nice shop! This will help students aspire as well as get entry-level jobs. I saw a shot in a library, but I didn’t notice any books. Perhaps that is appropriate, given the word last night that the Florida legislature has passed a law forbidding teachers from assigning students to read entire plays by Shakespeare (died 1616). Only carefully chosen quotes that will be on exams will be allowed. Well, after all, Romeo and Juliet encourage suicide pacts between fourteen year old lovers! And Hamlet’s mom marries her brother-in-law who killed her husband. And Lady Macbeth was a murderer. Indeed, Shakespeare’s plays are as filled with murder and sex as dozens of movies today! Can’t have that! (Less than most rap songs, though.) Also, Shakespeare’s plays are in fact filled with double-entendres, though most students won’t catch the jokes,. (The book “Shakespeare’s Bawdy” lists them all.) But who needs Shakespeare. Who understands Shakespeare? (Well, I do, and everyone else in my family.) But imagine if any kids from Florida get into Harvard and discover that they are drowning academically because they don’t have the knowledge elite students are expected to have, even though they have lots of buffalo. Below is an example of a Shakespeare quote with double meanings.

The schools look like college campuses with more perks than some private schools.

Our granddaughter hopes that a new hospital will be built at WellPoint, then she and her soon to be fiancée can raise their future children in what she thinks will be one of the safest walkable communities. She believes in multi gen to raise children as that is how she was raised.

The schools speak volumes when young adults are impressed with a school system to make advanced plans.

my old high school didn't even have air conditioning

The new schools are fabulous and I love that parents are required to serve a number of hours each month as volunteers doing something useful with/for the students.
My HS was brand new when I attended in the early 70s. It had a spectacular theater and underneath the sloping concrete floor where the theater seating was there was a 50' 10-point rifle range for our rifle team to practice and host competitions. We were CT state champions 2 years in a row. Ah, the good 'ol days.

I did notice plenty of boxes in different offices and classrooms yet to be unpacked...

I retired from HS education last year and was in a very good school district. If I was in a school like this though, I might have not retired!! LOL The school is amazing. But hopefully the staff will be also. Esthetics are nice, but it's the staff that makes the school. Of course, state of the art equipment helps. What a fabulous building! I just sent my future son in law who is a math teacher this video saying " are you sure you don't want to move here" LOL

Jim, This is for the students, not for The Villagers. Why is it always about "us"?

Because if WE go to the shows that are put on there, the school makes more money, which will help support the Arts Program there.

So it's really about THEM...

Lucky kids! Those facilities are nicer then most very expensive private colleges!
To all you naysayers about evil developer blah blah blah...the entire purpose of Middleton and the new Villages Charter School is to attract talent to the area to support YOU! Their hope is that this school will attract the young doctors and other health care professionals with young families to the area so that they can build a world class teaching hospital and wellness village along the turnpike. That DIRECTLY benefits YOU!

Has an open house been planned for the general public to tour the facilities??

Maybe in the next lifetime, I will go to a high school that is that impressive. That is smart to have the desks in the back row of the classrooms set up higher. That stock display ticker tape may be the only one in any high school. The robotics lab looked interesting. Maybe the robotics lab can make a large animated buffalo that walks around the school halls and answers student questions. Amazing that they have 4 basketball courts and/or 8 volleyball courts in that massive gym.
Hopefully, a better, more modern high school will produce BETTER more well-rounded US citizens.

The new school is some of the best Villages related news in a long time. The high school FINALLY has their own pool and they will no longer be invading the Laurel Manor sports pool, depriving Villages residents of valuable lap swimming time. Moving the school way south will also alleviate some of the traffic congestion in the area around the intersection of 466 and Buena Vista : )

Hopefully, at some point folks will get as excited about addressing the teachers pay levels (the key element that makes the "wonderful" work, or not).
