Hey everyone!
Looking to head down to the Villages in a few years and wanted to say hi! Look forward to getting everyone one's input or help when I do.

Welcome!
Same spot as you - not there yet, but hope to be in a few years! See you then!

Has there been a Jim Cantore sighting? Be safe down there.

Suggestion: check YouTube for The Villages. View as much as you can. Take with a grain of salt but you will get the “flavor” of the community. Eventually come down for a lifestyle visit. If you are decent health and are a “joiner” you will love the place.

FedCop? Hmmmm. To me, cops work holidays, odd shifts, split days off and endure Mando OT. Except for a USSS presidential detail crew, I don't know many who do this. Just playing and busting your b...s. Look on FB for the First Responders group.

A few years?? So much can happen in that time. The bubble may well be down to Disney by then

You will love it here. We have been here 18 years and have no regrets moving here. Retirement can be boring if you live somewhere where there is not much to do. PS: The Villages did not get anything from the current hurricane---we got only 1/2 inch rain with no wind. You can get information from your neighbors on where to go for new license, plates, doctors, etc. We welcome you when you get here. Good Luck!

When we arrived in 2007, people said, Great your experience with all things medical will be a great value to the neighborhood response teams.
In 2010, at the next village we both chose to remove anything about our background. Why because some just don’t get after 45 plus years of ON call, 30 day 24/7 stints, with 60 plus hours and then some, your mind and body needs to regroup. Those in the fields who got a regular 40 hours, will participate to heart’s content. Trauma people need a break. As you can see I am still regrouping. 4 hours of sleep, and up prior to the butt crack of dawn. It’s hard to remove law enforcement and medical in retirement. But the effort is worth it. Things change here in a matter of week’s, you will be amazed at the difference from one visit to the next |

Frederick was great in the 80's! I was in the Walkersville area then, but spent my weekends hanging out in Fredneck cruising the circuit. |

Lots of retired LEO and/or military here in the Villages.
There are probably clubs that would be very for you appropriate too. The Villages - Florida's Friendliest Active Adult 55+ Retirement Community |
