Must we tolerate the gutter?

Attended an Old Mill movie last night and was blown away by the filth that was throw in our faces. Some coming attractions are bad, but this was the height of obscenity. Having to be captive to such profanity for 5 minutes made us sick. I would think the Villages majority would not even think of going to this movie, yet it has landed here. How very sad.

At the risk of being censored again. The profanity, risky behavior, sexual connotations and the filthy end product, I am disappointed that people continue to pay money to watch this disgusting display of so-called acting. It permeates our society to the point that we tolerate it and think it's no big deal. Well, it is a big deal. I can't wait to get the infraction notice.

I am curious. Have you really been censored for a post such as this? I am struggling to find anything political, inappropriate, or a personal attack. I have been censored, but usually because I direct my comment to someone directly or use a political term (or color).

Two Bills 09-12-2023 11:02 AM

If we are not told which film, how can you expect an answer or comment?

Barbie? Oppenheimer?

Gpsma 09-12-2023 11:06 AM

Judging from your comment, you know something no one else has been told about.
Perhaps you can tell us what film is so upsetting?

I believe we are part of The Villages majority. We never go to a theater. We watch our movies at home.

If you step in a gutter (i.e. movie theater), you have to learn to deal with the filth in the gutter.

I'm thinking troll post and the poster will not return to comment or even read the thread.

retiredguy123 09-12-2023 12:11 PM

This thread proves that TOTV posters will discuss anything, even a movie that doesn't have a title.

I recently read a book that was great, but I won't mention the title or the author. Did anyone else read it?

Best comment award.

Just finished season 1. Should have found it earlier but glad we finally did.

Keefelane66 09-12-2023 01:31 PM

Although there are 8 novels published the final ninth in the series to be published late this year or next. The final 8th will conclude the series delayed due to writer strike.
I'm sure you'll like it even though its Historical fiction, Fantasy many of the events correct in time line, ENJOY
Just downloaded the Audiobook Series 1-8. Due to content it may have been removed from Florida libraries.

#1 Personally don't care for such movies and they seem to continue to up the level of violence and language each year, but #2 also think if there was no market for this type of thing, including in the villages, it would not be financially astute to do so, and #3, I "thought" there were "strict regulations" concerning what previews can contain since the audience may contain young children ?
Not that I agree with this at all, but seems when we attend a family movie we have no choice but to remove ourselves ! Stay in the lobby, or go buy snacks until the preview is over ! Certainly not the way it should be, but if we are in any social situation with really offensive behaviors and /or language, we'd just walk away !

If you don't post video, it didn't happen.

That was a great book but somewhat titillating. I would highly recommend it but just realize I do not remember the title.

Assuming this is on the level what was it rated?

I enjoyed watching a few seasons of that, although there was quite a bit of unneccesary explicit sex. Then, a new season opened with sex scenes of Jamie and Claire, Roger and Brianna, and Murtagh and (blind) Jocasta. It just got too ridiculous for me.

It moved to Iran, where it should stay. We don't need it here. If something offends you don't watch it.

Agree, but, how do you know what offends you until after you have seen or heard it? Like people who say "I hate that food", but have never tried it.
And, the OP is just a troll.

I thought the OP was talking about a preview?

Agree

Sorry, I agree that the trailers should be clean. Comedians too. I believed that even as a teenager.

Relative to the comment about people discussing just about anything...:

Simple, controversy sells. ToTV probably loves the clickbait for their algorithms which then generates ad revenues. See it all the time. It also equals Infraction clickbait for certain types of posters, see that all the time too.

Interesting too is that if I am not mistaken if you look at the actual location for ToTV it is in South FL, no where near T V.

I think the rule is that, if the feature movie is rated PG, then the trailers cannot be rated R.

Carlsondm 09-13-2023 05:41 AM

Looks like clickbait to me. Why share this?

I would never go to a movie theater where I might be exposed to offensive content. The world is such a vulgar place and I am ashamed to live in the filth and mire of our crude society. I will just stay home and read my bible and pray for the world.
