100+ degree days toasted my 8 year old EZPASS

EZPass worked on the drive down on Labor Day weekend.
No transactions going back and forth to MCO and none on the drive North.

And to even make matters better, with the cargo carrier on the trailer hitch, no rear license plate visible. . .

Will we be wanted outlaws by FL, VA, NJ, DE, NY and MA ??

Our 9 year old EZPASS recently died as well. After 9 years of living in my truck in weather conditions from sub zero to extreme heat 9 years is pretty good.

Good information on the radar detector, never thought about that. Just brought in the Escort Passport from the truck.

My EZ Pass battery stopped working last year - with no warning - so I got a bill from Sunpass at the higher rate plus an administrative fee. I filed a dispute with SunPass but the appeal is decided by SunPass so I lost. It seems unfair to have SunPass decide the issue in which they are a party to the dispute but this is Florida.

I asked SunPass how many disputes are decided for SunPass and how many are decided for the driver. I was told that they don’t give out that information!! However, they did waive the administrative fee.

I recently called EZpass since I had not used it in a long time, and I have automatic withdrawal.
They informed me that my pass was out of date and sent me a new one.
The phone call was quick and easy, and I had a new pass within a few days.

EZPass looks like it's good from NY to FL except SC. Is I-95 in SC a toll road, if so, just pay with cash I assume?

SusanStCatherine 10-11-2023 07:30 AM

Ordered mine delivered from Amazon. $15 it's an pass called Uni and is good in 19 states.

there's a difference in providing help where someone asked a question for help,
and insulting people's intelligence by telling them what they already know by virtue of living 60+ years in a house and driving cars, and owning the equipment, and paying the bills, and navigating the pitfalls of the world so successfully that you have a house in TV which represents some sort of not being an idiot.

its called know your audience, and don't assume that everyone is stupid and needs your magnanimous help when not asked. if you read the original post, my question was if I would be $33 dollars richer or be an outlaw. Given the fact that I have an EZPASS and know how its works, because I have lived to be 65 and have purchased one, don't you think that is a question I already know the answer to?

I will not be an outlaw, and I won't be $33 richer, because I will get a bunch of toll by plate bills I have to pay to each state. . .

I very much appreciate this board for answers to questions asked, whether I agree with the answer or not. I try to help out answers to others when asked, whether they agree with the answer or not. But I also try not to insult people or threads by giving the same answer for the 50th time or give advice where none was asked.

Why do people pay for EZPASS? I received mine from Massachusetts in 5 days.
“Massachusetts's E-ZPass system does not have a yearly fee or deposit. Customers must pay an initial $20 fee if opening an automatic replenishment account and $30 if opening a manual account replenishment. The minimum balance required in Massachusetts is $20, and accounts auto-replenish at $10.”

If I'm not using Sun Pass for a while, I put it in the glove compartment, the sun is a killer here in the summer.

The scary thing...................the lights still work and it appears to be functioning.

Something very important inside does not light heat......it was in the 90's in Texas when it happened.

Just be glad you didn't get the normal "if you obey the law, you don't need a radar detector" schtick from the self anointed traffic police!

The hot Florida sun will do that. Keep it in the shade.

You can go online to have your SunPass switched to a new car. Similarly if your SP doesn’t work anymore you can go to CircleK and get a new SunPass and easily go on line and transfer your information. The original post was about EZPass which I had when I lived in NJ.

A product distributed in Florida by the Florida Government should be manufactured with specs that allow it to endure the most common element of Florida life- HEAT.

Wouldn’t heat inside car be just as damaging as sun?

The transponder has a small lithium battery. The average battery life of the transponders is between eight and 10 years,

Apparently, some states automatically send replacements for units approaching end of life.

If your E-ZPass transponder is old, you might be among nearly 1M drivers needing a new one
