Need bathroom in pool birdcage

Any recommendations for contractors to put a bathroom in a birdcage ?

I would check with the local building department; I believe this would be an extension of the house, and I am sure there will be strict code requirements. However, your biggest problem may be the drain line, you may not have sufficient slope for the drain (assuming your sewer connection is in the front of the house). While I realize the general rule is anything goes inside the birdcage, this may be pushing the point, you may want to check with ARC on this also. The birdcage foundation may not be suitable for your planned addition.
IMHO, I believe this will be a fairly large and complicated project. I hope this works out for you.

On a side note, if all you need is an outdoor shower, this can be accomplished much easier, I have seen a few pools with these installed inside the birdcage.

Like Tink said...........it's an addition.

But, drain line is not an issue.............there are many pump options to use.

Creative option? Chem toilet? Compostable toilet?

Melton Construction has done many of these. The most recent one for one of my customers.

Bathroom addition

I suspect the OP wants this as a changing-room option so people don't track water etc. into the house. PLUS the toilet addition would be nice too. I have a friend whose got one but I think perhaps they'd put it in when they had the house built. I didn't ask.....maybe they'll weigh in here.

Good luck…. With todays prices it will cost a small fortune. I got bids to add a small addition on for a golf cart. Three walls and a door and a little electric… $60,000. Insane.

Is the OP technically wanting an outhouse here? How far could the pool be to the nearest bathroom? Maybe they really just want a change room with a shower and a drain which is a much simpler project.

Well, my wife called your company yesterday about an electrical switch that needed changed INSIDE THE HOME to control 4 flood lights attached to the OUTSIDE OF THE HOME AND OUTDOOR KITCHEN and was told your company does not do electrical work around a pool; both sets of lights are at least 10’ away from the pool.

Anthropomorphic I pool birdcage

Not sure of your model. We have a designer and master bath is on same wall as pool. We just put a door in that goes right to the toilet room. Works perfectly.

Home bathrooms on other side of house...

JPI Construction do great work

You need to call a plumber first to see where your drain pipe cleanup is located. If it is on the wrong side of the house from where you want the bathroom - "Good Luck"!

A pool bath is a nice addition to an outdoor experience. Not only is it convenient; it also eliminates traipsing wet through the house. (and hopefully no peeing in the pool). Also since you and guests use your lanai and cage area other than splashing in the pool, its a handy powder room.

I would contact T&D for a quote. They would be a one stop shop.

Torri Plumbing did an outside shower for me. Sumter county required a permit and I had the drain connected to the sewer line. I suppose a toilet would need similar. ARC didn't require approval inside a birdcage.

may I suggest the frosted windows…

If you want to add an outside switch for the lights, then it's much cheaper to change the light switch to a Lutron Caseta Claro on off switch or a Lutron Caseta Diva dimmer switch. The Claro requires a neutral wire, the Diva doesn't require the neutral wire.

You add the Lutron wireless switch to the changed out light switch. You'll also need a Lutron hub to connect it to your router. Then you could have an outdoor light switch without running power wires. You can also control the lights with your cellphone. You can also schedule the lights to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise.

I changed out four outdoor light switches to the Lutron switches for the sunset to sunrise automatic switching. Set it one time, then it follows the sunset and sunrise times perfectly, even with standard and daylight time changes. You can also shift the time before and after the sunset and sunrise times. It's programmed to the sunset and sunrise times for your zip code, so those times are accurate.

There's a lot of people that manually turn on and off their outdoor lights. The outdoor lights end up being turned off at night, and turned on running during the daylight hours.

Unfortunately, bathrooms are all on the opposite side of the house...
