Businesses around Eastport

I realize this is my personal list but I’d like to see these stores put down south of Magnolia Plaza instead of the usual ones TV establishes—
Cleaners/Shoe Repair; Chick-Fil-A; Sonic; Walmart Neighborhood grocery; Lowe’s; a SMALL Dick’s Sporting Goods; a donut place NOT Dunkin!; JJill women’s casual clothes; DSW; home decor store. Oh, and Target would be nice as well! It’s wishful thinking on these stores, but maybe someday.

Doubt if The Villages establishes any retail. All of those stores you mentioned pay somebody a lot of $$ to determine where to place a store.
Send your wishes to them…….

I live in Deluna not far from Magnolia Plaza. We already have an existing Lowe's and a Target that's being built about 6 miles away on 466A in Wildwood, so I wouldn't count on them adding others near south TV unless it's down when they're developing near Center Hill..

Sporting goods other than Pickleball and Golf stores are already sparse in all parts of TV, so that would be nice but I'm not sure about the demand when that stuff is bought online quite often now. At least the new Costco in Clermont opening next month will be 25 mins or less for most people south of 44.

Developer builds the store front, it’s up to the business to rent at that location. The only way you will see the retail you would like is, apply for franchises, and open up as many as you can afford. Good luck with your new ventures

That's not how it works and most of those stores are not "franchises".

First 3 , Donut, cleaners, Chick-fil-A, Sonic, one would guess would be probably more in franchise fees, than the average person would want to invest. Except for target The rest are brick and mortar, that most order online, even my parents have online personal shoppers, instead of driving to a store.

bowlingal 10-20-2023 05:25 AM

TX...good luck with that. You should have researched that area before you bought.

MidWestIA 10-20-2023 05:50 AM

shoes

Shoes are all plastic now they go broke but a good one in Eustis as well as a good clock repair

Rwirish 10-20-2023 06:27 AM

Perhaps south of 44 isn’t such a good option?

I wonder if people living north of 44 would travel south of 44 very far to eat. Maybe. If not, that cuts the sales quite a bit. I really doubt that male golfers around here would be willing to shop at Small Dick’s Sporting Goods, accurate or not. Drunken’ Donuts might be a nice option.

Please add: HomeGoods, TJ Max and Marshalls!!!!

Maker 10-20-2023 07:08 AM

Looking at maps, there are land owners who have not sold out to TV. Perhaps they are hoping to sell to a big box chain, or some other shopping plaza developer. Where the overpriced TV lease costs won't force payments based upon sales, and drive up costs too high to be profitable.

Great list! Need another Chik-fil-A definitely. More clothing options would be a plus or a small mall of sorts. Fingers crossed!

The "Only Way"?

Whitley 10-20-2023 07:19 AM

The OP never said there MUST be these stores or he doesn't want to live here. He would "LIKE" to see these. Lighten up people, it's Friday, relax. I have a mind to post a thread about traffic circles, rental homes or dog bathroom habits. Guy posts an innocent light comment and people are getting on his case.

Michael 61 10-20-2023 07:25 AM

I knew as as soon as the OP posted this harmless thread that they would immediately be attacked, shamed, and ridiculed. Why are some people here so cruel and mean? Can’t we all try and be more positive and supportive, or is being critical of others is how one wants to spend their retirement years? I’ve talked to many since moving here to TV that are scared to death about posting even a simple question on this forum, out of fear of being attacked.

I like the idea, be nice if the community could somehow have a say in what we need/like and go pursue companies rather than wait and see what shows up.

mizerkeith 10-20-2023 07:33 AM

By the time that gets built and stores move in a long time took brownwood 12 years to get almost full

Not entirely true. TV didn’t build the store fronts for Publix, HD, Hobby Lobby etc etc. and I’ve read that TV does try to lure in retail business. It’s been awhile but I seem to remember it being from a reliable source.

Torchy's Tacos is #1 on my list!

The Villages is supposed to be the World's Friendliest Town. Kinda makes you wonder. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure these folks are probably the smaller percentage in the big picture.

I agree with you 1000%. I can't understand why people have seemingly the need to bash people for their decision to buy a house south of 44 like we didn't have a clue to what we were doing. We personally did five lifestyle visits before I found found a house and area that I liked and we searched north of 466 to south of 44 where we ended up. I can list pros and cons of any area that we looked at but I don't have the need or desire to denigrate anyone in their decision where to live. The people who do I just chalk it up to insecurity or jealousy.

People living in Middleton near Eastport want coffee, grocery, retail, pharmacy, and a gym, to start.

People on here sure do have strong opinions.

What is certain is a Citizens Bank, a golf cart store and a business that does nails and haircuts.

Several Championship golf courses would top the list of businesses I’d like to see open.

Michael 61 10-20-2023 10:35 AM

My top three would be 1) A good bagel place 2) A Taqueria 3) An Indian restaurant

meme5x 10-20-2023 10:36 AM

Best shoe store ever, Beckers in Mt. Dora

Would like another bagel store but wonder if we would give them enough business to survive.

Would like a good Greek restaurant.

And don't forget the pack and ship type store; they're everywhere! LOL

Actually, if I could wave a magic wand and have anything I wanted, it would be to see my 2 favorite places ever in or near TV: Cheesecake Factory and Rain Forest Cafe.
But I agree there needs to be more retail, groceries, and basic business choices in the Southern areas.
Although I grew up in the mountains where anything and everything was at least a 30 minute drive, these days I'd rather not have that long a trip to go shopping, etc.
I also miss the days of good indoor malls, but shopping on-line sure is convenient.

Not going to happen. Dunkin Donuts would be the donut place expected to open. McDonalds. Not enough profits for DSW, Target, "shoe repair" to open there. If you are lucky a new Publix may open, otherwise you will drive to Magnolia Plaza.

Dunkin donuts is too busy putting itself out of business by making foolish decisions.

Would rather see a Timmys.
