Spectrum wants to visit us
Have any of you experienced this? What should I expect?
I received email from Spectrum notifying me ... "We've identified an issue that's likely to affect your service. While you may not be experiencing it now, a future service disruption can be avoided if you schedule an appointment today." The only Spectrum service I use is Internet and it is working just fine. If you have had these visits: - Why did the visit? - What did they do? |
Oh yeah, a third question:
- Are you comfortable with letting strangers into your home? |
Use the app chat feature asking for specifics. Dumped them when xfinity offered 25 a month for internet service
|
I would contact Spectrum from a number on your monthly bill or their web site and see if they actually sent it.

Scam……

Might be legitimate. They may need to change some equipment at the home to be compatible with a scheduled upgrade at their office. It's easy enough to contact them through a number on the monthly bill to be sure the email was actually from Spectrum. |
My questions aren't about legitimacy. There's enough evidence in the emails and web pages to assure me the request is actually from Spectrum.
Read again, and you'll see my questions are about what they actually do. |

We got a new modem in the mail because they said the old one was obsolete
|
Call Spectrum to verify that this isn't some sort of scam. It smells a bit.

Yes, call them to set up appointment. Use your bill or online account to confirm the number to call.
I'm in Marsh Bend, and yes a tech came out. Our modem was replaced, and the tech checked all the wiring in our home. Everything is working and just might be a bit better. Yes, it's wise to be cautious. For us, it was legit. No new charges, just good service. |
We just had it. It is legit. Everything for us was working fine so I almost didn’t have them come but it turned out they had to replace my line to the street. No charge. You should give them a call for peace of mind or have 2 people in the home when they come like we did.

They had to change the line to the street when I got that notice. I too was wondering why they needed to, since all seemed fine, but it's something they do to prevent issues.

Email
Check if the phone number in the email is the same as the actual Spectrum number. At any rate if you do call, call the number you actually have, and don't reply to the email.

When you call them - IF it's real they will tell you exactly what they intend to do. otherwise you wasted a post! |
Sounds suspicious.

I just delete it, when it fails then i’d call them. |
Ask Spectrum
Try calling the number on your bill and ask them what they are going to do while at your home. Don't settle for "Check the hardware". Their email sounds like there is something specific they are trying to do to avoid an outage. Don't settle for anything but a specific answer. Hope it helps.

It is 100 percent legit. I have friends and family that both work for Spectrum. Spectrum does check your signal every so often, and unlike Xfinity, they fix a problem before it becomes big. No scam going on. If you do not want them in your house, then just wait till it breaks on a Saturday evening when you have a house full of guest and then call them then to see when they can come out.
