Death of the Republic.

Margarita Republic has closed its doors at Spanish Springs Town Square.
A note on pink paper on the door announced the closure.
“Margarita Republic is officially closed!! We want to thank everyone who has supported us all these years. Thank you!!!”

Where do the ravers go now?

Freehiker 10-31-2023 05:51 AM

That place was gross and a magnet for trouble.

No great loss.

How is Blondie's progressing ? With a little bit of planning the developers could have made the Republic the new venue. My bet - another FMK establishment goes in. How many will this make ? Just as well Blondie's will go under due to the vast amount of resident water sippers.

Never been a big fan of the place. Any time I was at Gator's or WOB late at night the police were there at Republic for whatever reason.

Chi-Town 10-31-2023 08:27 AM

Perfect location for a Hooters.

...Which is not necessarily a bad thing. FMK does things right. We've eaten at many FMK restaurants here in TV and have never once been disappointed, with the sole exception being Chop House, which in our estimation was not a bad place at all, but somewhat overpriced for what you get there.

It seemed to have more locals and a younger crowd in the evenings than the average restaurant/bar crowd in The Villages. The crowds didn't disappear at 8pm. They also had live music.

I hope the next business will not be one that primarily attracts retirees. Too many of them already.

Location, location, location. Assume it will attract a younger crowd

I would eat at McDonalds before I would eat at FMK restaurants

Unfortunate that some people have no choice and are forced to live in Florida. If only there were 49 other choices they could move to.

Life is too short (especially at our ages) to be unhappy with where we live. If you are able, explore. I am searching for an old ice/fish house on the water somewhere in the state. I have had the historic homes, modern homes, condos etc.. My dream has always been to find such a home and fix it up as a residence.

Michael 61 11-01-2023 09:50 AM

I visited Margarita Republic once - food was not good and I didn’t care for the “vibe” - it would be great to see yet another FMK restaurant - Coastal Del Mar has been a very popular and successful addition to the Spanish Springs restaurant scene.

That’s 😆 funny. After all it is located in a “retirement community “.

Very sad !! The very few times when my weed contact couldn’t deliver , I could always go there and score lol

During the day they attracted mostly Villagers and the senior crowd with their kids and/or grands, enjoying lunch.
