There are probably several. They have served their time. Let them live in peace.

Most people say that until they find out they move in their area. Nothing incendiary about this comment and I certainly don't believe people change that are like that, and don't want them around my family. Sorry I'm not a bleeding heart person!

She can’t help it. She sees the boogie man around every corner. One day it’s the solar technicians. The next day it’s registered sex offenders. Tomorrow it’ll be last month’s home invasion.

alwann 11-09-2023 12:44 PM

they're here

Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement has a website that shows by neighborhood where sex offenders have registered an address, in case this is a concern for you. I wish they listed addresses of those neighbors who've been convicted of drunk-driving so I'd know to be careful walking by their homes.

I would like people who put out such nonsense to stay away from me and my family. They are currently toxic as opposed to something in someone's past.

So what's your point? You want to organize a lynching party? If you have one in your neighborhood and don't like it move. This post is totally incendiary and serves no purpose.

Very simple to warn people, let them live next to everyone with a bleeding heart, I don't want them around my grandkids is that simple enough!
Why do you think they have to be registered sex offenders, the state and federal government is warning people!

So I guess you are not concerned about the drunks, drug addicts, thieves and such that most assuredly also live here. Now we also have the airbnb renters who can be spring break kids or worse. Did you really move here thinking it was some sort of Utopia?

The Villages is such a nice place to live. I do not understand the people who are always looking for a problem.

Velvet 11-09-2023 08:06 PM

Seriously, I thought this thread was going to name the retired head of a major hospital in NY, a ranked member of NASA, a well-known name in golf championships etc all people I chat with at my neighborhood pool. If there are any child molesters I guess they haven’t introduced themselves yet.

Boy if you think the registered sex offenders are a problem, just wait til you find out about all the sex offenders who haven't been caught yet.

Here's a clue: most of these sex offenders living in and near the Villages have committed crimes against minor children. Minor children don't live in the Villages, and those sex offenders just don't find you compelling. If you have grandkids, you shouldn't be letting them wander around the Villages unattended, so you should have nothing to worry about.

Of course not, I am concerned of that as well. It's not the happiest home town and there is a lot of bad actors here as well. Just look at some of these posts attacking me for making people aware. There's a lot of bleeding heart people here, let them have all the bad behaved people in their neighborhoods, maybe they will then have a different opinion.

Making people aware of something that happened a month ago isn't "just making people aware." It's not "just" anything. It's intentionally goading people. It's creating conflict "just" so you can cry foul. Or maybe you "simply" want an excuse to call people who have lives outside your angry world "bleeding heart people."

I'm "merely" pointing out to you that your "just/only/merely/simply/only" is obviously not very effective. If it were, everyone would agree with you.

Can’t Rehabilitate a sex offender! Pretending it’s not a problem is the Problem

lorilorilori 11-10-2023 06:39 AM

Sex offender v drug dealer, animal abuser, arsonist, terrorist, embezzler etc.

we need open records and registry on ALL FELONS or NO FELONS.
No reason to single out one felony over the other.
History shows us that those in the name, blame game have made
millions off this one crime - like John Walsh now worth over a
hundred million.

Some have and some do deserve the break. Others may not. I lived nextdoor to one rso for a while who was a very nice man. He did his time for being with a girl who said she was 20 when she wasn't and all hell broke loose on him. He did his time and has his life long scarlet letter now. He's was a great neighbor.

There are a lot of rso who are not nice. Lived around the corner from one here in T V who tried to slowly back me into a comprimising position as I was washing my car one day as a newbie to T V. I recognized what he was doing and quickly moved away. From that moment on my guard was up. I did not harass him but I did not interact with him. One cannot assume that age of victim disqualifies a victim, even in T V.

Agree with don't go on a war path toward a neighbor who has done their time and has a scarlet letter now. EVERYONE has a story and testimony to tell. There are no perfect people - hence the concept of grace. Respect is a two way street.

FL, thank God, has a judicial process that is still in use. Retired people have plenty of time to be vigilant and observant to protect the vulnerable. That person wearing a scarlet letter could just be the person to "see something and say something" that FL law makers are encouraging. Needless to say, I for one do like a locked door at night... even here in T V.

I knew a guy convicted of statutory rape when he was in a consensual relationship with a girl that was 16. He was 18. He is labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life. When he moves anywhere he had to register. His neighbors had no idea he wasn't a child rapist.

Here's the link. You can search by name, or neighborhood. You can also sign up for notifications. There will be a detailed file for each offender.

The system is in place for good reasons, to protect the public and inform citizens.

Unproven claims

First, I never open links from unknown sources. Probably with 100K plus people there are many with checkered pasts. What’s your point?

I get an alert from my ID theft service every time one registers. With so few children and schools a retirement community is a magnet for those trying to comply with restrictions on this location, I guess.

HJBeck 11-10-2023 07:57 AM

Sheriffs web site.Lat count I had seen was close to 100 in TV area an 20+ in TV PROPER. Just go to the Sumter County Sheriff’s website.

Justputt 11-10-2023 08:07 AM

Most adults know the registry exists, and maybe we don't feel a need to check it. Belittling someone that has a concern ignores their life experiences which may give them cause for concern. Yes, people have done their time, so live and let live. In the end, whenever children are around, I hope we are all watching out for them. I suspect there are far more DUIs, caught and uncaught in TV then almost anything else, and they are a danger to all.

airstreamingypsy 11-10-2023 08:07 AM

Well, that didn't quite go the way you expected. No one grabbed their pitchforks and formed a mob. What were you expecting...... there are sex offenders everywhere. Better here where there are no children I say.

Dotneko 11-10-2023 08:11 AM

In any population of 150,000 ish, you can expect a certain percentage of rapists, murderers, adulterers, thieves. Did you believe the Villages was different than the rest of the world in that respect?

Toymeister 11-10-2023 08:17 AM

Chellybean, you have the beginnings of a business model:

-We screen your neighbors for offender status

-We screen your contractors and their employees

-We will monitor contractors to ensure no trespassing

I never knew there were so many child molester, rapist loving members of our community who have come to defend these monsters on this site. A quick search of FDLE's website shows there are a number of sex offenders living in Florida's Friendliest Home Town.

JoelJohnson 11-10-2023 08:26 AM

At least one, Earl Knight of St. Andrews, is serving a 40 month sentence for recording his own teenage granddaughters, in the nude, in his own house. His wife bailed him out and lives with him. I knew this pervert for 20 years and had no idea what he was.

that is quite offensive. This forum has gone downhill over the past few years.

Fredster 11-10-2023 08:34 AM

I’m not surprised there are quite a few sex offenders living in TV,
but I am surprised at comments berating the OP!

Stu from NYC 11-10-2023 08:43 AM

I know there are people with history that is offensive to say the least and we always keep close watch on our grandkids when they visit.
