Repeat and Repeat
Most of the posts are repeats of conversations that those in Sumter posted when we moved here about the short comings south of 466A. Then the same conversations showed up when south of 44 showed up. And they continue now as newbies move in. Totally understandable, the migration of TV.

The only concern(?) I have with all the expansion going on with the Villages, as well as other new development is the possible water shortage that some predict. All the other subjects of conversation are fleas on a hound dog.

At the time Buena Vista south of 466 was a two lane road where two vehicles could barely pass. |
It sounds to me like the Developers aren't really interested in the opinions of people who already bought their houses. If they cared, they'd consider - not expanding.
It's their property, their money, their headache. Until they pawn it off to the homeowner and the next CDD. And then it's not their problem anymore. Such is life in The Villages. |

Who you talking about??.......the Developer. What does a Developer do??..............Develop. :ohdear::ohdear: |
South of 44 will eventually be the be best area to live in as commercial properties are developed along 44 and 301 assuming that you are not near powerlines and the turnpike. They have the best amenities and the new homes have included enhancements and options that were not available in previous phases. Plus it has quick access to I75 and the turnpike which will be improved when the 301 expansion is completed in 2028. Your browser is not supported | ocala.com.
430132-1 SR 35 (US 301) from CR 525E to Florida's Turnpike Problem is that it may be many years before it is fully developed. Look how long it took to get one gas station to open. |
As a previous poster said developers develop.
There was another post stating that developers do not listen to the people. They do listen to the people that is why The Villages is expanding. People want to live here, the only thing that is going to stop the expansion is when either they run out of buyers or the land because of scarcity becomes too expensive to turn a profit. At the end of the day almost like everything else, profits are the motivator. |

Oh my the nerve of the developer to cause such angst. That said, we moved from a small bedroom community that began to expand and many comments there could be heard as are placed here. Oh the thought of more homes, stores etc. being built---such a travesty! (sarcasm intended) The developer does listen but he's got a business plan that was put into place many years ago. As for the roads etc.----they're made by the county and they have actual engineers who plan them. People come and are at first (emphasis made on "at first") impressed so they buy. They settle in THEN the complaints begin by saying "no one told me------(fill in the blank). Up north when folks complained they were called NIMBY's (Not In My Back Yard).

And then the elected officials in our counties might tell the Developer: "sorry - no more zoning exceptions for you. This is agricultural land. You wanna grow a farm, great. Apartments/houses/rec center/commercial property? No can do." |

All that being said…I wouldn’t want to be living anywhere else.

It has always been so. People criticize others. It is their fault. That is, it is not my fault. |

Also, 100% stone yards = the need for weedkillers = really REALLY bad for nature. On the other hand, sod is a waste of space, especially in Central Florida where you can't even have real actual grass. Better to have a wildscape than either a "lawn" or rockbeds. |

[QUOTE=golfing eagles;2273718]True. And as you remember 10 years ago, the "hot" topics were:
Roundabouts Dog Poop Seat saving Terrible restaurants Poor golf course conditions The "greedy" developer The ER at the hospital The "horror" of snowbird season You are absolutely correct. I got my smile of the day reading your list. I remember both agreeing and disagreeing on every one of them, and yes, doubt much will change on the gripe list in the next ten ! Might see a few new one though: How the Villages was intentionally over looked for a Bright Line connection could be one ? ? Not enough golf courses could be another, ya think ? But you are correct, "The more things change, the more they stay the same". |

I for one am glad they repeat topics. Searching on this forum is not easy. So as I prepare to buy a new or slightly used golf cart after the new year, I hope someone posts yet another question on where the best place to get one is?
