Cable and Internet Providers
I'll be moving down to Lake Denham in December and was wondering which provider for cable and internet that you would recommend? My contract lists the following providers: Comcast Xfinity, Spectrum and Centric Fiber.

Xfinity

spectrum
no contracts, vacation mode, 300 min speed been with them 10 years, very minimum rate increases. :eclipsee_gold_cup: |
I've come up on my end of contract with Xfinity and I am wondering the same thing. I've been happy with them, and I have my cell phones with them as well. Got two Apple iPhone SE free about this time two years ago. Waiting to see what they offer me as far as a phone upgrade/price.
Neighbor has Spectrum and is happy with them. They are offering a deal now for a free unlimited data phone line for a year. However, I need two phones, so after a two year period, the price is about the same as I'm currently paying with Xfinity, maybe a little more. Don't know anything about Centric Fiber, but willing to consider them. |
If you just want internet connectivity and are planning to stream, absolutely check out Centric. They connect you via fiber at fast speeds, good pricing, and high availability.

xFinity. Not the cheapest but fast and reliable. We have them for internet plus two iPhones w/unlimited data each month. About $175 total + Amazon Prime (about $14 per month--I think. Haven't checked in awhile).

Centric fiber, hands down. If you ever have a choice of fiber, that is the best and most reliable internet service you can get and it’s usually cheaper with higher speeds. If you check speeds, fiber is the only network that gives you the same speed for uploads and downloads. For example, if you have any copper cable network like spectrum or xfinity, you can get 1Gb speed (1000Mb) for downloads but only 20-40Mb upload speed, whereas fiber gives you 1Gb down and 1Gb up speeds. Also, spectrum/xfinity will slow down when more neighbors are using the network, fiber not. Also, your network latency is much lower with fiber than with xfinity or spectrum.

Xfinity has been working great for almost 4 years for us.

Always go with a fiber provider. No tax, no fees, price is stable. Also, you will be getting the latest technology without worrying about your price going up without you knowing it from some special deal the cable company gage you. With Quantum, they now give your a very good WiFi mesh network for free with the service. It's WiFi 6E system and works very good. It's a several hundred dollar value. BTW, If anyone is interested I have an Orbi 960 WiFi 6E mesh system for sale. PM me if interested. |

Cable TV suggestions please
Hello,
We are moving to The Villages in late December and would appreciate any input on cable TV suggestions. I live in Indiana and we use XFINITY, and paying $276 a month for nothing.. Thank you, JoJo :) |

Quantum Fiber (a rebranding of the fiber side of CenturyLink) used to have a great deal of $30/month for 200 megabits per second up and down as their lowest tier of service. The current deal is $50/month for 500 megabits per second up and down for their lowest tier of service. This is too bad since 200 megabits per second is more bandwidth than most people can use, let alone 500 megabits per seconds. Regardless, if you have access, they have dependable service. I have been using them for 9 years.
