Carlos Santana, Joe Cocker & the Grateful Dead were steals, especially since Joe Cocker! Richie Havens & Tim Hardin did well. Quite an assembly of talent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft0vkKCadgk |

Did Neil Young play at Woodstock 1969?
The initial lineup consisted of only Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and the band needed more personnel in order to tour, as Steven Stills was responsible for most of the instrumentals. The trio finally settled with Neil Young. Their second concert together was none other than Woodstock 1969. |

Neil Young came on stage. He and Stephen Stills played two songs as a duo: "Mr. Soul" and "I'm Wonderin'." They were announced as The Buffalo Springfield, their former band.

I was seven years old the summer of Woodstock, so before my time.

My buddy and I dove all night on Friday to get there Saturday morning. We couldn’t get within 5 miles of the stage. We weren’t the only ones with that problem. Cars were lined on both sides of the dirt road for miles. We could have walked but the rain and mud was awful. People were partying everywhere. I still say I went to Woodstock, but.

Apparently, he refused permission to be filmed at the concert... I never knew that! (and I'm a HUGE Neil Young fan!) The reason why Neil Young refused to be filmed at Woodstock |
If it makes us feel a little better, $1.00 in 1969 is equal to about $8.38 in 2023.
$700 = $5866 today. |
Neil was there !
He was introduced by Graham Nash before they performed Sea of Madness

Great era in my life
So I was 14 when "it" took place. What a show it must have been. But would not have been interested in all the mud and stuff.
Anyway after the show my best friend and I were in Ocean city MD for a week with our families. We would walk the boardwalk and if any chicks, oops young ladies, talked with us we would tell them we had just gotten back from woodstock. It really helped open up conversation. Anyway again hello anyone ever see alvin lee playing Im Going Home. He introduced the song as this ones called Im going home by helicopter. Best live song I have ever not seen in person. |
Didn’t make it to Woodstock, but 3 days before on Aug 12, I saw Jefferson Airplane, BB King and the Who perform at Tanglewood in the Berkshires.

One of my biggest regrets in life, is not going to Woodstock. I had friends who were going, and wanted me to come. I said, "Where is it again?" They told me and I said, "That's in the middle of nowhere, no one is going to show up!" I've never been so wrong.... LOL I would have loved being there, rain, mud... all of it.

There's also a Woodstock concert at Whispering Oak Winery at 5 pm Wed Dec 6. We're going, but I don't remember who's performing.

I was 3 years old! Lol!!!!

I was only 13 at the time, going into 9th grade that year. I knew about it because I grew up in Orange County and lived a little over an hour southwest of Woodstock.
