Flooring Companies

We are in looking into redoing the flooring in our house & lanai with porcelain tile. If you have replaced your flooring, what flooring company did you buy from? Was installation done smoothly or were there issues? If you had tile installed, how well did the crew bump the tile to the existing molding? Did they use grout to bump the tile to the floor molding or did they remove the molding and put back on? How did the flooring crew handle your furniture? And lastly, were you pleased with the end results?

Floor Master of Wildwood installed our tile throughout home, moved furniture. They removed baseboards and reinstalled cut door jams to correct height, placed anti fracture membrane and replaced furniture in to correct rooms. They removed carpeting and linoleum total time in home two and a half days. The team worked well together.

You can do it either way, but, in my opinion, the best way is the remove the baseboard and reinstall it after the tile has been installed. Have you considered luxury vinyl plank instead of porcelain tile? Also, the best installation is to use the same flooring throughout the entire house, including the kitchen and bathrooms. I like Floormasters and Roberto's. Good luck.

We highly recommend. We liked them so much we used them on 2nd home. They moved furniture, removed baseboards and installed transitions. They removed old ceramic tile.

I just used Roberto’s to rip out my rolled vinyl and carpet and replace with vinyl planking, had baseboards upgraded at same time - I highly recommend their team, they moved my furniture and kitchen appliances.

We were very happy with Roberto's, although they did not put down porcelain tile, but vinyl plank. Outstanding experience from start to finish.

Could you explain to me your experience with the Floor Shoppe?

Stick and Stone in Wildwood. Top notch place. Owner is a Christian gentleman and class act. Best installers I ever had. Moved and replaced all furniture. I HIGHLY recommend them.

Rwirish 12-06-2023 06:11 AM

Removing the baseboard results in more damage than not regardless of installers.

Use quarter round for a nice clean professional look.

Rwirish 12-06-2023 06:13 AM

Used them and they were okay. Nothing special and the final grouting could have been better (the same with a few quarter round cuts ).

As part of a larger kitchen remodel, we used Wickham construction to install 1000 SF of LVT. We had ceramic tile floors and we removed baseboard and placed the LVT directly on top of the ceramic. The noise reduction from ceramic to LVT is noticeable and very much appreciated.

If you are replacing carpet with LVT which we did in the bedrooms, we used quarter round as the baseboards would be lower and a noticeable line on the walls above the baseboard would show.

Since our house is older, 2001, we took the opportunity to remove the popcorn from the ceiling as well while messes were already being made.

Jameson 12-06-2023 06:41 AM

We had Roberto's remove all square ceramic tile and install porcelain, new 5 inch baseboards and paint. The communication wasn't always the best however the workers were good. There were a few minor problems we noticed after they left. They came out and checked it out. The fixes were completed without any issues. That was the part that meant something to me. They stood behind their work.

Great Lakes Carpet and Flooring, Wildwood. Excellent prices, easy to deal with, great installers. Had vinyl plank gloorind installed in three rooms that had carpeting. Took 2 1/2 days. All furniture removed and then replaced. Would highly recommend them.

Mike&Silvia 12-06-2023 06:50 AM

We also used Floor Masters in Wildwood for outdoor tile work recently and were very pleased with the quality of work.

East Coast Flooring. Very good results. Very good installers.

Roberto’s will do the job properly.

We had vinyl and original 12x12 porcelain tile removed by Roberto’s and large format porcelain installed throughout the house. They moved the furniture and appliances as needed. All base boards were removed and replaced with new 5” baseboards. Removing the old 3” baseboards always leaves marks, so the 5” covers all that up and is a nice upgrade. Quarter round molding next to the old molding is a short-cut.

The process of removing the old porcelain tile in the foyer, kitchen and baths (if you have it) is amazingly noisy and dusty! We moved out for about five days. They will tell you that you can stay, but it would be rough going.

After they were done, Roberto’s sent in a cleaning crew to clean up all the dust. I can say that it is an awesome update. Porcelain or ceramic tile is what a house should have in Florida. I think flooring companies push vinyl flooring because there is more profit in it. Also, they do not need the skilled labor for vinyl. Tile is not cold nor is it hard on one’s feet.

Robertos number one in my book. Had tile installed throughout the house. I chose to replace the baseboards with a 6” base. They offer remove and reinstall but the price wasn’t that much for new so went that route. They were there when they said they would be and were done when they said they would be. A supervisor came by everyday checking on the 2 man crew and it was a 5 day job.

We were very happy with Roberto's. They did our Master bath tile. They also did 2 of our friends entire house in porcelain tile. Robertos moved the furniture with no problems. Our friends they removed their base boards and replaced with new.
Everyone was very happy with the work Roberto’s did.

Roberto’s. I used them for Luxury Vinyl Planking in two houses. I was very satisfied both times. They remove the molding and either reuse it or install new molding that is higher and fancier. I’d say go with the new molding. It looks great. The trim painting is perfect. In one case I went with their top of the line product. In the other, I got one that was a couple thousand less. I recommend getting the best, textured product. This will cost more than buying it at Lowe’s. One house, 1100 square feet, this cost me $14,000. The other, 1600 square feet, I paid $11,000, but accidentally used a lesser product and then didn’t replace the molding.

Including existing tile removal, how long did it take and what was the final price per square foot?

shower. Very clean, courteous,

Royal Palm Flooring

After getting quotes from Robertos and Floormasters, we chose Royal Palm Flooring in Summerfield. They had the best prices and service for the hardwood floors we wanted. Floormasters misquoted a product and Robertos charged a lot for baseboards. Royal Palm Flooring is associated with Ruth Dyer, the decorator who writes a weekly decorating column in The Villages Daily Sun. Highly recommend!

I chose Roberto's Flooring, located off of 301, to complete the flooring project for my entire 2338 sq feet home. Initially, I had ordered porcelain tile from Home Depot, but upon completion of the installation, we noticed issues such as uneven lines and high and low edges.

To rectify the situation, Roberto's Flooring took responsibility for the problem and promptly removed all the tile. They reordered new tile at their own expense and began the installation process for a second time. However, during this second attempt, it was discovered that the tile from Daltile (the original supplier) was defective. In coordination, both Roberto's Flooring and I received refunds from Home Depot for both the tile and Daltile products.

Subsequently, we decided to purchase new tile from Floor & Decor. Due to a delay in the tile delivery from Orlando, Roberto's Flooring went above and beyond by personally picking up the tile for me. They then flawlessly installed the tile throughout my entire home, including the addition of new 5.25 baseboards. Additionally, they took care of repainting any damaged molding or walls and even arranged for a cleaning crew to thoroughly clean the entire home.

Having been in the construction industry for many years, I can confidently say that Roberto's Flooring stands out as a company that truly values the quality of their work. Their commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction and their willingness to go the extra mile make them exceptional in their field.

Roberto’s is terrific and I have used them and would use them again. I also used Floor master’s for vinyl in the bedrooms. They did outstanding finish work.

We are looking to buy in TV, and I am rejecting all houses that have tile throughout the living and bedroom areas. Too cold and noisy. Vinyl plank is so much more inviting.

We used Robertos and their service and prices were great.

When placing the LVT over the ceramic, what was done to smooth out the profile of the ceramic as nornally the grout lines are lower? I like the concept of not removing the ceramic as that can be a major project. Please advise thank you

Floors of Distinction in Leesburg

1 house was easier since we had them install plank vinyl in 2 bedrooms before we moved in. We removed baseboards (and painted ourselves) and took out carpet. Crew re-installed baseboards (no quarter-round). This was a one-day job, but I think they came back the second for a few minor things.

2nd home was a much bigger job. Removed ceramic tile in kitchen, entrance, hallway, and guest bath. Floors of Distinction could remove the tile 2 ways - 1) least expensive but lot of dust or 2) third-party, dust-free (mostly) for extra $'s. We opted for dust-free and glad we did. We lived in house while all this was going on and no problem. Crew moved and replaced all furniture.

Previous owner had plank vinyl installed in living room and master that we like, but we did not like the transition strips to ceramic tile. Crew removed plank tile in living room (older run, so it didn't quite match newer version plank tile. Removed all quarter-round (previous owner so we stayed with quarter-round). Installed new plank vinyl throughout, except master bedroom (we left old run version since it was separate from rest of floors) (installer did not like the transition strip to bathroom in our master bedroom and replaced it with new one) - living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, hallway, entrance and guest bathroom. Crew removed (and replaced) kitchen cabinet baseboards and pulled out stove and refrigerator. Kitchen now has same floor as rest of house and no transition between living room, dining room and entrance or kitchen.

We had enclosed our lanai. We had Floors of Distinction take "old" plank vinyl from living room and use it on the lanai. It was extra work to trim out the floor with quarter-round to make the edges neat and tidy, but the installation crew did a great job.

I was very impressed with the transition strips installed for the external doors and next to the tub in the guest bath (I didn't know it needed a transition strip beforehand) and it blends in and looks great. The crew removed the toilet and reinstalled the toilet with a new wax ring after installing the vinyl plank.

I think the job was 4 days.

I can't quote you price per square foot, but call and talk to someone at the store. The estimate is free and they need to measure your floors to give you a quote. The owner happened to be our sales rep and he spent a lot of time up front explaining our options and prices. He was professional and very detailed. He took his time and answered all our questions.

Floor Masters did not honor their installation warranty and it cost us $5,000 to make it right. A test for water passing through the concrete was called for by both the tile and the mastic manufactures. Floor Masters claimed that they performed the test but were unable to show them. Seniors versus Crime tried to help but we were stonewalled. Eventually gave up. Life is short.
