Xfinity NOW

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with "Xfinity NOW" tv for $20 a month which includes Peacock. Sounds like a great deal.

Did they tell you they were also going to charge $66 for “installation”? And all kinds of taxes? It was very difficult to get them to take off the charges I did not authorize. Make sure you know your final bill total each month first.

Peazoup 01-15-2024 10:31 AM

thanks for the info. Are you happy with the service?

Velvet 01-15-2024 10:37 AM

I got rid of it as soon as I could, but I have YouTube TV already.

Stu from NYC 01-15-2024 04:10 PM

Be prepared for regular and large increases with xfinity. Have had them for four years but cost is now outrageous and shortly they will be gone

Michael G. 01-15-2024 04:21 PM

I don't know how Xfinity stays in business by raising prices like they do.
It's almost coming to be a joke.
Don't people care?

Have xfinity internet and youtube tv installed here. xfinity is 75 mbps at $30 per month less discounts for automatic payment.

ithos 01-16-2024 06:23 AM

Xfinity is more expensive than Youtube TV because it is far superior in many ways. The remote is amazing and you get much better response when FF or RW shows. The voice command is awesome too.

The best thing about YoutubeTV is being able to stream on other devices with a great app. It has other advantages too such as an unlimited library. It is a matter of personal preference which is better and whether the difference in costs are a factor.

huge-pigeons 01-16-2024 06:35 AM

You don’t get much with now tv. I had YouTube tv and it wasn’t that good either for the money you pay.
Somebody mentioned they pay $30 for 75Mb which is not a good deal for such a slow speed. You can get 300Mb or more for a few $$$ more per month.

I pay $30 a month (permanently) for Quantum fiber and 200bmps plus. I doubt I would go back to Xfinity if they offered it FREE. I stream using a Roku stick and pay for Youtube TV and save a couple hundred bucks over what I was paying.

I thought the same, 75Mb is a hair faster then dial-up.

I was just quoted to keep just my internet @ 300Mb, it would cost me $96.00 per month.

JRcorvette 01-16-2024 08:09 AM

Comcast/Xfinity is a Horrible company with Terrible customer service if you can even call it that.

JudyLife 01-16-2024 08:19 AM

I’ve had Xfinity since 2018 and very pleased & yes we get Peacock. Started at $20 p/month and after 3 years went to $30 but still a good deal as it’s the only service I pay for on my television. We had the aerial put in our loft space, good reception.

biker1 01-16-2024 09:46 AM

Dial up is typically 56 kilobits per second. So, 75 megabits per second is actually 3 orders of magnitude faster. Unless you are moving large files around, say 10s to 100s of gigabytes, then 75 megabits per second is usually more than enough. Streaming 1080p only consumes about 5 megabits per second. I believe most people pay for much more bandwidth than they require.

That. Also some things to consider:

some areas can't get Spectrum or Quantum. If I want broadband internet, my only option is Xfinity. I can get "high speed" internet from CenturyLink for $55/month for 3mbps max. I'm paying $50/month for 200mbps from Xfinity. I would be paying only $45 but I refuse to do auto-pay, and send payment when the bill comes instead.

I wouldn't mind paying less for 100mbps, but I was paying $50 for that, and they doubled my speed without charging more, so this is what I have til the contract expires. And then I'll see what specials they have, and threaten to cancel and return as a "new customer" to get those special deals anyway.

28carl 01-16-2024 10:41 AM

xfinity did you know

i had xfinity confirm that i was a long time user in various different locations in Florida going back 15+ years and as a result they moved me to the highest level of service...includes peacock at no additional cost....if you have used xfinity in other locations you should try this

biker1 01-16-2024 12:32 PM

You are in an area without a lot of options. One option you may have, however, is 5G cellular internet access via AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile. I can't speak of whether they have sufficient 5G coverage for your area or whether their services are reliable but it may be worth looking at if you reach loggerheads with Xfinity over their value to you.

Tried Tmobile 5G, it slows down drastically during busy periods. Totaly unuseable.
We get Comcast 75M for $35.. Far more than adequate for streaming multiple shows and camera feeds.
Only 20M required to stream HD content (Google it).
Those thinking they need more are mostly misinformed. (Again, Google it)

biker1 01-16-2024 02:47 PM

Not exactly. You need approximately 5 megabits per second of bandwidth to stream 1080p. You need approximately 20 megabits per second to stream 2160p (aka 4K). I don't have to Google it; I actually measured it. As I already stated, I believe most people are paying for bandwidth in excess of what they require. FYI, I do know people who are happy with their 5G cellular internet service. I suspect performance is location dependent. I am perfectly happy with QuantumFiber so I wouldn't entertain it.

Are you comparing to 300 baud, 1200 baud, or 2400 baud?

I wouldn't use cellular service for internet. I like Xfinity, and I only pay $50/month, and that's what I've been paying for years. The frustration of spending an hour once a year to maintain my price is just an hour once a year. If that's the worst hour of my life in a given year, I consider myself lucky.

Went to YouTube TV and ROKU and turned off Xfinfity. If they keep charging me cap fees for my internet I am going to go elsewhere too. Xfinity wants $100/month for unlimited internet data ( + fees) while there is at least one place that is 300Mb/s at $50/month into fiber. I don't game so that is plenty for me. The cable companies are slowly raising their provider fees for internet because of wire cutting.

Internet

I am looking for an internet only provider. I have been using Comcast/ Xfinity for over 20 years but they are expensive and they don’t give seniors or veterans any concessions on their bills. How do other internet providers get the signal onto your home? Xfinity ran a cable into my house.

Brighthouse 01-18-2024 08:52 AM

Do you live south of CR 466A, if you do then Spectrum is an option. Right now new customer can get their internet for 29.99/month for 500Mbps. I signed up with their local sales rep, Lysander Jimenez. His number is 352-239-3538.
