Shoulder-to-Shoulder or Face-to-Face
 

I notice in restaurants, when a couple is sitting alone together, some sit side by side and some site across from each other. Which couple are you; Shoulder-to-Shoulder or Face-to-Face?

face to face

I prefer to face the person I'm talking to

Face to face and getting a spot where one of us is always facing the door(s).

Corner to corner that way can share and not have to reach across the table, still have a conversation without infringement on other tables

If we are in a place that is at all noisy, I like to sit next to my wife so I can hear her better.

Depends on where we are and what kind of tables/chairs we have.

Agree if it is just the two of us. Otherwise, side by side.

I sit next to my girlfriend but across from my wife.

Side by side. It's too hard to reach the Wendy's window if we are facing each other.
We miss In-N-Out Burger out west, but I digress.

Side by side but we are drunks so we are sitting at the bar. The bartender gets mad when we go face to face. (even though I usually know how to make cocktails better). :D

But really, at a table it's always face to face if just us. Sitting beside eachother alone at a table for 4 is awkward.

I have read, & I certainly don't know if it is true or not, but supposedly women generally prefer side by side & men prefer face to face.
