Construction Update #135 Following the Dream - Central Parkway Growing

Video #135 looks at the additional construction at the end of Central Parkway, the area around 466A and Powell Rd., Eastport, the 2 new fire stations, Well Point, Edenfield, the Enclave, and several other areas.
Be sure to watch the video on your big screen TV and not just on your phone or tablet, to get the full enjoyment of the video.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Always so informative.

Another great video Don. We are getting excited for the things coming that will be fairly close to us in Lake Denham. I know the naysayers will complain about a 25 minute cart ride to amenities, but for me that's not a big deal.

I will be there in a week (we are very part time for 2 more years) and I'll be able to see how long it will take going to Eastport over the Bexley (are we calling it Bexley or Southern Oaks?) bridge on the cart. I assume even if all the cart paths aren't open all the way to Eastport I'll be able to get a good idea. Don't worry, we won't ride in the construction area. Last thing I need is my bright blue cart being on YouTube for breaking the rules. :D

25 minutes to amenities? I'm confused. There are amenities right there in the center of Dabney - pool pickle ball courts, etc. Retail establishments are not amenities.

Bexley Trail over the Southern Oaks bridge, just to make it confusing.

The cart path passes right next to the Eastport construction area, so you'll be able to figure out the time within a few seconds or a minute at the most, depending on where you're trying to figure the endpoint.

I'll look for the blue cart.

Yeah I guess I meant town squares and retail rather than amenities.

Thanks again for all the work you do on these videos.

What are the hours for the Rotary event? Says starts at 10, but what time is it ending?

Ecuadog 01-25-2024 02:46 PM

Thanks again, Don, for all that you do.

Thanks for another informative video Don.

Any idea if there will be cart access over the turnpike on the 470 bridge? I think I heard you say the villages had an agreement with lake county to expand that bridge but a cart lane is unsure at this point?

I hope they do, it would make access to the new retail/hospital areas much easier for a lot of folks.

The possibility of cart lanes over the additional span for 470 is always there, and in this case it makes a lot of sense to do it. Like you said, with the hospital coming in that area, it would be a huge plus. There is also the continued growth south with the property south of 470 on both side of the turnpike that would justify it. It would be a decision that would have to be made and addressed by the developer, Lake County, City of Leeseberg, FDoT, the FTE, and the state. A lot of agreements would need to be made. For the developer it would be a great addition, for Lake County and Leeseberg it's pretty clear that they are licking their chops over all the new property tax revenue and will likely jump at anything that will keep the money flowing. For the FTE it means reworking the exits and toll collection systems at the exit. IF there would be a roadblock anywhere it would be the FDoT, remember they were the ones that were the challenge with the Water Lilly bridge and its width, and their concerns about senior citizens throwing thing on to the roadway below :loco:   .
Do I think it will happen, all the writing on the walls that I'm seeing tell me yes, but I've been wrong before.

There were a few errors in the video:
1) it is fire station 48 not 38 at the corner of Central Parkway and Marsh Bend Trail
2) the correct name for the rec center is Salikus no DaLacus - was I thinking of the car dealer or was it just Dawine
3) there is a pool at Salikus Rec Center - Now, there wasn't when I shot the video, 2-weeks and one appeared.

There's probably more that I haven't noticed yet.

Sometimes I get rolling on the voiceovers and don't pay attention to my notes.

Please don't tell my wife I made a mistake, I'll never get to forget it.

I really hope a cart path over the pike at 470 does happen. I can't wait to post how awesome Lake Denham is with it's proximity to all the retail and squares. The people always trashing our village will have exploding heads. LOL

Your new village is not the first to be trashed and won’t be the last. In 2010 we bought in Newly developing Pennacamp. We were called every name one can think of by buying a home in an area that nobody will ever live in because it’s so FAR from the middle of TV universe LSL.

You can’t get here from there, there’s no Shopping, all the good rec centers are miles away.

“ You just threw away money into a pit that you will be underwater the day you close” so bashing of new villages will go on for multiple reasons.

So just enjoy your home when you can, ignore posts. Just because it’s not an ideal village for some, doesn’t mean it’s not ideal for others. Bashing is now more targeted to all of the south vs north.:girlneener:

We didn’t like the LSL area, and just kept moving south to get away from retail, office complexes and the traffic that comes with it. Hopefully all those empty commercial lots will stay that way.

It's amazing how fast thiings change.

Any chance the Building you pointed out in the video as a sales center is a Rec center?

There'ssome very tall walls going up so It's looking more like it may be the Rec center mentioned with the indoor indoor gym (backetball, pickleball, vollyball, etc)

Nope, the Olympia Regional Rec Center is being built on the north side of building 12 (sales center), they cut in the footers for the foundations, and they started erecting rebar. In the video you can see it when flying over the ball fields and behind building 12 when I go for the high shot just before the clip ends.

Any clues what the Plaze building in Middleton could be?

The parking lot is different from the others, maybe layed out for shopping carts?

Nope, not the Olympia Rec Center it is building 12, the highest probability is that it is the new sales center - always are large building/facilities to support the large number of sales reps, support offices, and closing rooms, look at the LSL, SS, & BW facilities.
ORC is under construction just north of b12, you’ll see it in video 136 that should be out in the next day or so. The athletics building requires a different type of construction to make the high ceilings necessary, again, this can be seen in 136.

GREAT CATCH! Those are shopping cart spots, I’m not a betting man but I will put money on a grocery store. It’s too small an area for a big box store and the location certainly drives the need for a grocery store. Based on the current market for grocery stores in Florida and the existing business relationships, I’m going to say Publix will be building here.

Fenney was being bashed for years, it's now 7 years old and we still get bashed every once in awhile. For a long time it was also Sawgrass and now it's a model for what is going in at Spanish Springs. The developers know what they're doing and all the bashing in the world won't slow them down. I really like seeing the growth and these videos, just don't like the traffic.

Part of the fun living near the construction is watching how they do things :)

Maybe for concrete curbing the walking path?

I agree, definitely the size of the Walmart Neighborhood Market and not a Publix or other large chain store.
