Statue of Jackie Robinson stolen.

Knowing how he reacted to stuff with a coolness under fierce pressure he is probably still keeping calm.

I believe they are still watching us from wherever up to the point we join them. But, who really knows?

With so many cameras available, it shouldn't be hard to intensify the perps. The weight wasn't listed, but multiple people and some sort of truck had to be involved.

There was a truck. The two perps put it on the back of a pick-up.

And I do not remember that a lot of cameras were available at this place.

Simply the latest of many statues toppled and/or stolen over the last few years. Sad.

They probably passed many cameras. Many stores, restaurants, banks etc have cameras facing the roads. Not to mention all the Ring doorbells. It may depend on how active the police are during their investigation.

Little League nonprofit League 42, named after Robinson's number with the Dodgers, paid about $50,000 for the model of him, Executive Director Bob Lutz said. The sculpture was installed in 2021 in McAdams Park, where the roughly 600 children play in the youth baseball league.

They may have found the truck. They will probably be caught in a few days.

Good to hear. Really liked the movie 42 | Rotten Tomatoes. Saw it at the Barnstorm Theater.

Risky move to earn about $2.50 a pound at the scrap metal dealer.

This is a first in recent history during which hundreds if not thousands of statues were toppled, desecrated, stolen, and otherwise vandalized, yet absolutely nothing was done about it! An arrest has actually been made for the theft of a statue. Police arrest 45-year-old man for theft of Jackie Robinson statue

Taltarzac725 02-13-2024 10:18 PM

Suspect caught.

Yes, that is what I posted. Whoopee!

Hope they are punished to the fullest extent of the law, but can you imagine the outrage if they are released without bail pending their trial.

No where on this thread does anyone write this was done as a race crime.

Re-read all talt's posts. Disagree with your assessment.

Completely agree(with fdp's disagreement) - nothing racist about the theft, nothing racist about talt's posts.

Thanks. My sister-in-law's first son was in the Robin Williams' movie August Rush. Black kid in wheelchair who walks fine in the story as well as in real life as far as I know. My younger brother married a former SEAL support team member. That is one of her kids.

I have heard a lot from them about mixed marriages and they got a lot of grief from both her family and some from ours. It was more though their experiences here in the Villages. This was ten or more years ago. My younger brother lived here in the Villages for a year and a half.

And many of the home care people we get are African-American. From all different places though as far as ethnic background.

Mixed marriages can have lots of challenges. Sadly, you finally found that person that you want to spend your life with because they bring you such joy, and family, friends, society at large has to make waves when they should be happy for you for finding your special one.

Things seem better out there now. Get a lot of information from the various home care aids we have had the past three years. Many of these are part African American with a lot of mixes. And many have been here in the Villages area for most of their lives.

Of course, they may be telling me what I would like to hear.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how comfortable they feel with you. Care givers have to be careful to not cross certain boundaries. Not the same as having a good friend who can give you the honest answer you really want or need even though it might hurt. Those friends are very special.

From what countries in Africa did they emigrate?
