Is there a limit to the number of garbage bags the trash company will take?
 

We'd like to cut down a large bottlebrush and put them into garbage bags. Will the trash company take them? How about old mulch?

There are different rules for who collects your trash, but in general...
Branches are tied together in a bundle with twine. Cut ends together at same end of bundle.
There is a weight limit... I think 40 pounds ??? but they are picked up by people. I keep the bundles lighter so it's easier on their backs.
Only bag loose pieces. Keep that weight light too so it doesn't rip open.

Not sure. But we've filled two 33-gallon trash bags (each holding three of those 13-gallon kitchen bags) at one time and they've taken them no problem. Guy next door had a knee-high pile of palm fronds and tree branches and likewise. This is one of those areas that (I believe) can be influenced by the annual tip. If you've tipped the trash haulers at (say) Christmas, they're probably a bit more apt to bend the rules in your favor in such circumstances.

For yard refuse though I think you're supposed to use those large paper bags designed for such things. Home Depot and (I think) Lowe's carries them. I've seen people use them on our block.

They will take almost anything that the drivers and haulers can easily pickup and put into the truck.
Easier for them to tie them in bunches, but the length is not strictly adhered to, they took a whole podacarcus
after bundling the long branches about 4 feet long and then they took the unbundled remaining as well.

Guidelines specify what can be put out and how various items should be bundled, but don’t address a quantity limit. Since approximately half of Villages residents are part time, and pay for trash for extended periods when not here, putting out a large quantity every so often shouldn’t be a problem.

If you hire someone to cut down your bottlebrush tree, the contractor is required to haul away the debris. Only the homeowner can put the trimmings out for the trash collection.

I think they will definitely take them. However, it seems to me, that they are trying to collect as fast as possible, so if it would not be inconvenient for you, if the bags were put out over a couple of days, rather than all at once, the collectors would still be able to move the trash out very quickly. Just a small courtesy.

the " thick white envelope" will answer your question.. The Driver is on the top of the pecking order. The money that you saved by not hiring a professional
shrub & Tree service, should be shared with the guys that have been tasked with making the problem go away. Do the right thing, now that you removed a butterfly habitat from your property.

No to paper bags no more recycling all trash goes and gets burned and turned into energy.

How do I dispose of my yard waste?
All waste, both household and yard waste, is collected on your two scheduled pick-up days –
there is no separate day for yard waste. You may use brown paper bags for collection of lawn
clippings and similar yard waste items and place them at the end of your driveway the night
before or before 6:00 a.m. the day of pickup. Tree limbs and branches may not exceed four feet
in length. Please bundle and tie these items and place them at the end of your driveway. Trees cut
down by contractors will not be collected and must be removed by the contractors.

You can also buy the paper bags at Publix.

I have but out bags of old mulch. Kept them under 25 lbs in kitchen garbage bags. I put out about 15 and they took them. I neatly set them out curb side. Not stacked up and had them so they could easily pick them up.

Why get rid of old mulch? It decomposes and feeds plants. As for bush cut in three foot lengths and tie up bundythey will pick it up

None at Linden. They will take everything away.

I still use the paper debris bags. They hold a lot but don’t get too heavy. I had 13 a couple of years ago and they took them all.

Personally I have a lot of respect for those guys and like to give them a little something to show my appreciation. Nobody dreams of a career picking up garbage but they're doing what they need to do to take care of themselves and their families. Without them even our utopia here in TV would go to hell in about a week or two.

My only comment is try to make it fast and easy for them to pick your stuff up.

The large paper bags for yard waste do not need to be used at his point. A couple of years ago we were informed that plastic trash bags can be used for home waste and yard waste. I haven't put out yard waste in a paper bag since and my yard waste has always been picked up.

The paper bags do offer the advantage of standing up while you trim bushes and throw clippings into the bag.

I bundle cut branches with old twine and paper bag smaller pieces. The paper bag stands upright and makes it easier to collect. Organic mulch just becomes compost and I would see no reason to remove it at all.

I put out 26 large yard bags, they were gone the next morning.

As previous replies recommended, use twine to tie bundles of under 40 lbs and 4 feet long. Put leaves, twigs and scraps into bags. The Trash Collectors will pick up as much as you leave. I had a neighbor that lined his entire front lawn with over a dozen bundles and bags, which the Trash Collectors picked up

Hmmm… I wouldn’t count on it. I have seen bags left behind. Especially if it looks like it came from a contractor’s work. Good luck.
